  • This video is basically a continuation of our previous videos ( • AC Manifold Gauge Set ... & • Testing AC Manifold Ga... ) on how to assemble, properly attach & hook up the connectors on our new VIVOHOME R134a Manifold Gauge Set. Also come with the kit is the a 110V 1/3 HP 4CFM Single Stage Rotary Vane Air Vacuum Pump. This video is to show how the pump works, how to - operate, fill oil, pull AC vacuum, evacuate the system - before recharging the refrigerant. It is considered an unboxing, first impression and initial not comprehensive product review video. There are many kits on the market today and most of them come with vacuum pump and other accessories such as leak detection. Here are the #ad links to the most popular brand with a high positive ratings and five star reviews:

This is a single stage rotary vane pump. It is is a type of pump technology that enables the compression of air inside the pump chamber to create suction for the removal of air from a vessel. A dual stage pumps have a low vacuum stage and a mated high vacuum stage in one assembly in order to improve the performance of the pump.
A vacuum pump is NOT used to handle refrigerant. You can not use a vacuum pump to properly recover refrigerant gases because a vacuum pump does not have a compressor to reduce the gas recovered to a liquid in order to store it in the recovery bottle. It's to evacuate a system AFTER the refrigerant is gone.
How to Use a Air Conditioning Vacuum Pump on Your Car. First hook up a refrigerant gauge manifold set to the low pressure port on the system. Connect the vacuum pump yellow hose to the middle port.
Now, hook up your refrigerant gauge manifold set and screw on your A/C vacuum pump to the center port. When the vacuum reaches 27 Hg, let the pump run for another 30 minutes. Close the valve and leave the gauges connected to the A/C system for another 30 minutes. Verify if there is still a vacuum. If you lost some of the vacuum, then there is a leak somewhere. If the gauge still reads 27 Hg, you are ready to add refrigerant. Start the car's engine and turn on the air conditioner. Now slowly open the low pressure manifold and let the freon or R134a refrigerant flow into the system.
Manifold gauge sets, sometimes called HVAC gauges or refrigeration gauges, diagnose and repair refrigerators or cooling systems. They measure both low- and high-refrigerant pressure with either digital or mechanical gauges to troubleshoot issues such as leaks or to help when evacuating and recharging a system. A manifold gauge set will also let you determine if your system is fully charged or not. A manifold gauge set will have red, blue, and yellow hoses.

A micron gauge is what is needed to measure vacuum . System needs to pull 0---200 microns service gauges will not get near that unless serviced /lubed even when they are new . Coupler need to have Nylog on the service port and coupler shaft and thread . The couplers always leak .

The brass fitting has 2 inlets (1/2" and 1/4". You can't pull a vacuum with one of the inlets open to the atmosphere.
The manual explains if you bothered to read it :) You should get your dad or grandpa to help you.

At 10 minutes into the video you very quickly achieved minus 30 PSI, nothing like 45 minutes of running. I didn't see it in the video, but did you open the valves at the car end of the hoses? It looks like you quickly achieved a vacuum in the hoses, not the system. Just checking.

Yup. I noticed that too. I think he only vacuumed out the three lines. The gauges only read whatever is in the lines.

Umm.. so many issues, please dont follow these instructions! Issues include: you don't want to leave one of the input vacuum input ports open on the pump; the high and low pressure valves attached to the car are not open - so not draining anything!, you don't want to vent the refrigerant into the atmosphere (it's illegal).

  • @theewz

    Yikes.
I hope thats not refrigerant you're just exhausting into the atmosphere.
Clearly you did not understand whats required to di this property.
