    Oakie! To me, this is your best video to date. Your awareness of the sound and feel of the ported saws is top notch. The tuning on both of the saws will eventually find their happy place. Then you won't have to keep adjusting, unless the situation calls for it. Great build for Super Dave. Oakie, your skills are improving in the buck for sure. Great video, I'm happy for you.

    Can’t beat a work ported saw!
    IMO, it needs to be richer on the high side. Fatten it up until the 4-stroking is obvious. Then adjust from there. I tune my bigger saws for wood like that Oak trunk.
    What caught my ear was how clean it ran when you were limbing.
    IMO, if it is that cleaned up in small wood it’ll be too lean when you are in the bigger wood…
    But, with that anti lean nozzle deal removed it might be fooling me…

    Regarding tuning, why not fatten up when hot until it starts breaking up. Sometimes the sound you hear is different than what comes through on the audio.

      It certainly is a great platform and I believe it is going to be great as a ported saw. I felt comfortable doing it as it is over built and held back from the factory. In other words, I trust the saws robust build. My 562xp will only ever see a muffler mod I believe. Thanks for sharing!

      @oakiewoodsman yeah no hate towards the 562 awesome saws with the mk 2 coming really wanna see if they get it perfect cause I think it would be the best out of the box 60cc without the issues it's had. The 550 mk2 seemed like a decent improvement and they got a lot more to update on the 562 . The 620 just seems to take to porting so well and you can get with brand new with paying for port work super cheap and run long bars no problem. I seen WCS gonna be selling dogs for them would be cool to see a filter upgrade on the 620 as well.

    Nearly a year ago was when I bought my newest chainsaw and after researching several different models, I ended up deciding on echo as a final choice. At that time, Home Depot only had the 590 Timberwolf in stock so that is the only reason I didn’t buy the 620. I’m extremely happy with the 590. Small things here and there I wish was different but overall I’m definitely not regretting buying it at all. Currently I’m really wanting to check out a new echo 7310 but not quite convinced myself to spend a thousand bucks on a chainsaw just yet. The 60cc 590 does exactly what I need it to do as I’m not felling huge trees nor running any sawmills. lol

    • @oakiewoodsman
      @oakiewoodsman  Před 10 měsíci

      I think you made an excellent choice! The 590 is a great saw at an excellent price. It is robust, capable and a great firewood saw. It should last a very long time because Echo builds a stout build very conservatively. I have never run a 7310 and would have been interested in them at a price point of around $800 or so. Right now, they are a bit high. They are an excellently built saw and wake up fairly well after the 10-15tank echo break in. My understanding is that this ported 620 probably would out cut the 7310 stock and it is lighter and smaller. The 7310 has a far superior air cleaner and it is nice they increased the bar stud Diameter to match Husqvarna. I appreciate you watching and taking the time to comment. Welcome and be safe out there cutting!

    Heck yeah man! I'm excited for you. My 620pw is headed to walkers saw shop next month for the whole works. Base gasket delete, porting polishing piping. Some west coast aftermarket goodies. You asked about the tune, it was really hard for me to hear (my bad ears, not your fault) but it sounded like it was 4 stroking in the wood. It shouldn't 4 stroke in the wood that means it's rich. It should 4 stroke at the high end with no load but it should clean right up in the wood even smaller wood. Tinman saws has a great video on this if you haven't watched it. I found it helpful when I was starting to work on saws. They did a good job on that 310 too. Looks like it cuts almost as fast as my 4010 and that's a 42 cc saw

    • @canuck7268

      @oakiewoodsman have you put a tachometer on your saw? My 620 tops out at 12.8k with the stock jets and I find it's really happy there. My 590 wouldn't go over 11.6k so I did the jet swap in that one. A tachometer is a very helpful tool to have.most folks don't know echos are long stroke motors meaning they don't need 13.5k to make peak hp. Their power band is different.

      @oakiewoodsman  Před 7 měsíci

      @SliMStaR360 I am no expert on this but when a saw changes how it runs when flipped, I think that indicates an air leak of some sort. You may wanna check into that make sure all your lines are good and seated, make sure bolts are snug and if you blasted towards the crank seals, make sure you check into that as well. May wanna do the brake cleaner test around the PTO crank seal. Definitely before you run it more, find the issue and resolve it otherwise you will burn the saw up if it has an air leak. @superdaveoutdoors is the one who ported my saw and is an echo mechanic.
