Today I'm taking you to the most colorful city in Portugal 🇵🇹 For 42th time I was surprised again, about what this country has to offer.
Ending was not how I planned it to be, but anyways I had really good time in this city.
As always factual part of the place:
Municipality is 197.58 km2 and population around 80.978 inhabitants. Urban area of Aveiro is 31.08 km2 and 55,402 inhabitants.
Explore the city of Aveiro, which is in the Central region of Portugal, renowned for its canals and atmosphere. Often referred to as the "Venice of Portugal," Aveiro offers waterways and colorful moliceiros.
Interesting things to eat includes the famous ovos moles and eels. Explore the unique Costa Nova district with its striped houses. Take some pics also, like me and other million people 😄
And Aveiro serves as a gateway to beautiful beaches and the stunning Aveiro Lagoon, a natural reserve with diverse bird species.

@@millionplacesoneworld Taking a break from Chicago and heading to Portugal every month is really something else. It's like stepping into a whole new world of peace and calm, away from Chicago’s problems.
The thing that stands out the most about Portugal? It's got to be the vibe of the people there. Everyone seems so relaxed and welcoming, making you feel right at home.
The food is another thing! For me, it’s the Cape Verdean dishes. I just discovered them and they're amazing. The flavors are so rich and varied - it's like a burst of Portugal's cultural diversity in every bite. The whole experience, from the beautiful scenery to the warm people and fantastic food, just fills you with this inner peace and happiness. It's pretty cool, isn't it? LOL.
Oh, and guess what? I got my NIF number and because I noticed that some small vendors and restaurants only accept euro or cards issued by banks in Portugal, I opened a bank account there. You won't believe it, but my card arrived here in Chicago in less than a week.
Plus, I found out about Cacilhas from your CZcams channel. I've been going to this affordable restaurant on the waterfront called, 'CACILHAS O FAROL - 1890'. You should check it out sometime.
Also, I'm almost done with my book, '72 Hours In Lisbon.' I've even snagged the website domain '72hoursinlisbon.com' for it!"

"Moliceiro", porque serviam para transportar o moliço ( algas marinhas) que eram usadas para alimentar os terrenos agrícolas. Eram barcos à vela, não a motor como são agora para transportar turistas e eram às centenas.

I look forward to exploring Aveiro one day. Must remember not to go in the water! Eels… eek! Tat would have freaked me out… you have to wonder how it got there and I’d like that. It didn’t look like it had had any injuries. Have you eaten eel before? Maybe it’s not something that agrees with you.

I think I will agree on that about taste of eels, we have them also in Latvia, but much bigger, like that one on the beach and they are fresh water eels, I'm not sure about these. Never tried them back home and I think I will leave eels alone for a while😁 Will stick to sardines 🇵🇹

Carnes: carne de porco à alentejana.
Peixes: bacalhau à lagareiro ou bacalhau com natas.
Mariscos: açorda de marisco.
Mas há tanta coisa gostosa na cozinha portuguesa.... não foi à toa que o TasteAtlas awards colocou a gastronomia portuguesa na quarta posição!
E depois, a doçaria, é outro departamento .

Wow...just checked and you are right, it's in Ílhavo 👍 But Ílhavo is in Aveiro district. When I checked Aveiro before the trip, always saw these houses, so I thought it's Aveiro 🇵🇹 Thank you for clarification 🤝
