When playing as the US I found that the best strategy is to not focus so much on Germany but on Japan especially in the pacific. This forces Japan to devote resources and production to the pacific and prevents them from carving up Asia especially in Russia. Then I also land troops into Africa and liberate it from any Germany and help defend Russia and Asia that way as well.

I find this to be too slow, and allows Germany to focus solely on Russia for those extra turns when you're moving your naval forces around. Japan starts with more navy than the US does, and even with the US production juggernaut, that takes valuable turns to get going. How do your games usually play out when you do this? Does the US eventually overwhelm the Japanese navy and start taking away their islands? On what turn does the US start to make this headway?

Have you ever considered recording gameplay when you play with your friends, it would be very interesting to see your plans and tactics in action in an actual game of AnA. Love the videos and keep up the great work!!!

Thanks Macker! That's a good idea. I'm not sure when our next game will be or which version we'll be playing, but I think there'd be a lot of value to doing that.

Just to clarify: in this version of the game, Classic, you can NOT place fighters on newly purchased carriers. Whether you buy the fighters or non-combat move them, still not allowed.

Hi Nathan. That is my understanding of the rules in this version. That was changed in future versions, however.

Correct. At the 3:40 mark you said different, so I wanted to clarify for you and any viewers.

I've often seen Japan take Hawaii turn 1 and capture Australia turn two, the Eastern US fighter can't attack the Japanese fleet around Hawaii when it can't land in Hawaii.
I do see east indies as the initial US objective in the Pacific, it's a great factory out of reach from Japan. The Brazilian factory landing 3 units every turn in Africa is much appreciated by the UK.

This is an interesting idea - guarantee that Germany gets kicked out of Africa, and deny them the income...

It's too slow to put naval pressure on Japan as the US. It's better to pressure Germany in Africa and Norway, and force them to devote defensive infantry to West Germany, rather than let them focus heavily on Russia.
If Japan doesn't attack China first turn, and the Allies want to pressure Japan, it's possible for both the US and UK to put factories in Sinkang and India, which also helps Russia, and can allow the UK to help Africa, potentially.
