    Amazing driving, I wish I could drive lime rock park one day, it’s my favorite racetrack!
    I’m from Germany and I’ve driven Oschersleben and the Nordschleife, both amazing tracks.
    But somehow the simple, fast layout or LRP is fascinating to me!
    Even if I have access to the Nordschleife, sometimes you wish for something shorter.

    Excellent driving. Usually when I see vids like these pop up, it is mediocre drivers in fast cars. You are a very talented driver extracting the most out of a powerful but heavy street car on street tires, and that is impressive. As someone who has a ton of laps around LRP and owns current NASA ST5 lap record, including a personal best 57.7 running unrestriced in my 240hp E36 M3 on Hoosier R7's, I commend you. Well done. LRP requires talent and balls to go fast.

      Thank you for the unsolicited very kind words. It's even more meaningful coming from someone who apparently is very fast around LRP themselves and understands the challenges of the course and equipment - 57s in a relatively low powered E36 M3 is mighty impressive. I have a lot of laps around this very short course and I want to think that I am close - if not at - the true limit of the car with this particular setup and tires. But the back of my brain tries to stay conscious that there is always someone that will be faster in the same equipment and therefore there is still plenty of space to keep learning and improving. I guess that's where the challenge and fun lies.

    Great Laps! Brings back fond memories of my younger days at BMWCCA sessions at Lime Rock . IIRC in the early 80's I was doing 1:18 something laps in a completely stock '73 2002 that had maybe 98hp and non stock 185-70 tires. We could only pass on the straight, where I couldn't, and was backed up in traffic on the rest of the course. Still - not bad for a daily driver!

No where up to go from here, except possibly actual racing, which - unfortunately, haha - is not in the cards for me at the moment.

    What are you using to protect paint on your car? I’m think of tracking my M240 after doing a few mods, but don’t want to damage the paint. Your car looked really clean!

      Will S thanks. I thought she was actually really dirty, but I appreciate your comment. I’ve only got about 16k miles on her and don’t drive her in the winter and avoid driving in the rain if I can. Also, I give her a few coats of collinite 845 wax a few times a year. Having said that I’ve got a protection film on the entire front, bumper, hood, fenders, lights, mirrors and a pillars to protect against chips. It’s not foolproof but minimizes the issues. I believe it is Xpel.

    • @dvas2686
      @dvas2686  Před 3 lety +1

      Yes it is, the one and only Lime Rock Park. It's a fun track. It's short but average speeds are very high and it feels like a roller coaster. It only has 7 turns but it is a very nuanced track and takes some time to get fast.

      Thanks. Mostly stock, yes, just some bolt on suspension components originally purchased to manage tire wear. I've listed all of my mods in the description - with the exception of spacers 12mm/5mm to make the wheels/tires fit. LRP is my home track, so I have a lot of days there, over a thousand laps for sure. I'm still not as adept at the other tracks I visit, NJMP, WGI, Palmer, but working on it.

    • @dvas2686
      @dvas2686  Před rokem

      Yeah, mostly stock for the world of track cars. Engine is completely untouched, not even bolt-ons, radiator upgrades, nor ECU tuning. Stock OG M2 power, not even M2 competition. Only mods were brakes that can handle track duty, and camber plates / suspension so that tires don't get destroyed in a single day. With regards to tires, did you expect me to drive with snow tires? RE71s are an extreme performance street tire for sure, but they are a daily tire that is seconds behind Hoosiers which themselves are a few seconds slower than real slicks such as Pirelli DHs - both of which are a very common site at these events.
