Today lots of your funny comments about your older horses seemed to apply to this 83-year-old gal, had to chuckle. Maybe i need one of those vibrating platforms. Your narratives were particularly therapeutic today. And i love the views of the near mountains dusted with snow. My husband died in January after 50 years and i really need therapy but I’d rather tune in to you. thanks
My condolences for your loss. I hope you had a very happy life together. Never discount the therapeutic power of doing what simply feels good. I also recommend Winkle the duck videos and Desert Drifter (for low key arm chair adventure).
My condolences- I’m a widow , too, and it can get pretty lonely. Grief therapy helps some.

Being someone who was around horses and horse people most of my life, I can tell from the horses' body language when they are happy and comfortable in their environments. Your horses tell us they love living with you and enjoy your company! In my book you could not receive higher.praise! Thank you for allowing us to be a part of all this!

As a treat for the toothless guys, try the applesauce that comes in a small pouch with a squeeze top and cap , designed for kids. You can give a squeeze or two of it. Even my dogs like it😊

I watched Steve Young Horsemanship do exactly what you said about using a toothpick to help if your horse is afraid of shots. It worked. This poor horse had a horrible story. Luckily he got rescued. The patients you have is amazing. And that can’t be faked. A horse always knows.

Thanks for sharing your life with God's gift, the beautiful horses! I'm too old and disabled at 77 to live my favorite life any longer and I get great pleasure in spending time with you and your chargers😊. I have a tip for you. No criticism meant of you, please, just wanting to share. I always had a long barn aisle to sweep at the end of the day and found that by using a leaf blower, the chore became less tedious! It was also helpful in keeping the spiders at bay too! Lol! Please know you are a sweet treasure in my life, and I'm sending all my good wishes for a happy and healthy life for you and all the ones you love.🥰
I have a leaf blower! It gets done at the end of the day as long as it isn't too windy out! Good for training the horses too
I am a few years older and feel the same way. Watching C.C. as she does her work rekindles memories that brighten my day. 😉

Lucky horses to have you looking after them
I love that you share your everyday chores and care for the horses and their home. I noticed you are wearing your back support and see you lean over quite a bit. I have similar issues, love yardwork, and always have to remind myself to squat versus leaning over so much. The upside is building glutes and thighs and stretching calves and saving back. Hugs, CC. As always, you are exceptional. I can't wait to see you working the horses.
I had the thought the other day I’m just too tall for regular pitch forks, maybe time for a custom one!
I worked with horses, as a truck and line mechanic, a few motorcycle spills, and four years of H.S. football and by age 50 and what I thought that I was in good shape running a 10K every other day at an eight minute mile pace I began having leg pain. It was then that MRI’s had shown damage to three lumbar discs via compression and wear and tear. I would lose over an inch of height in 12 hours of vertical time.
What was surprising was how weak my core strength was despite how athletic I thought I had been.
Finding a good physical therapist is as hard as finding a good horse trainer like C.C., but on the third go round I found one and developed ways to strengthen my body core to keep pelvic tilt and other alignments at its best position. I also learned to say no to the many prescription drugs and take only simple over the counter meds if needed.
Learning to live within limits is difficult work whether it be working with an older horse or even yourself. ⾺

Hahaha about Little Gus being too smart. We had a pet ewe. One time a visitor asked my Mom just how smart she was. Mom said, "She's smarter than she needs to be."

All in a day's work, and work you do! Great job caring for all those horses, and sweet Huckleberry, I'm glad he's got a few tricks up his sleeve...it's really sad when they stop doing the mischief so enjoy it all. Love every part of this because when it's done, it's finished.

I would not describe you as highly organized, but rather of having an ability to make things happen that need to be done. These are two separate abilities may not necessarily have the same results. I liked the opening music played during the first few minutes.

Glad to see you wearing lower back support, I have three damaged lumbar discs where the MRI showed extensive scar tissue that might have been avoided if I had took better preventive care.

We had a small collie /lab cross who took after his dad in colour and his mom in size. My dad used to take him golfing with him every day after school got out. One day he came home without him. "Where is Spot" we all said (he had one white spot and I was 6) and the reply was that he had found something really dead (we always said dead groundhogs) and he wouldn't let the stinky dog in the car. There were a lot of complaints and he went back over after dinner and there was Spot waiting in the parking lot. Dad still didn't want him in the car so he put him in the trunk to come home (only about 2 miles). We all were horrified until we got a whiff of him! 🙂

I was surprised it’s ok to disperse them. I thought they got collected. I know you must worm the horses, which keeps the burden down but doesn’t the pasture get contaminated if you disperse? Not criticising what I don’t understand, just asking that I might understand x
Being a retired dental hygienist I really appreciate your consideration in the changing of the needles. I know only too well how uncomfortable it can be on the size and usage of a needle. In the mouth it is not too uncomfortable injecting multiple spots for anesthesia. when you have something like skin and fur to penetrate then you really do need to use fresh needles. Way to go.

Skeletor looks so much stronger. The muscles on his chest are forelegs are pretty huge. I bet he could pull a cart or buggy pretty danged easily. He has a wonderful arch to his neck. I don't mean to single him out, all the horses are wonderful, but his improvement is just so drastic, I had to make mention of it. Studman is a very, very handsome horse. You could show him.

Marvelous video, enjoyed every minute, laughed out loud at Huckleberry's antics with the sprinkler. Thanks so much for mentioning that you use two needles for injections - one for drawing up the meds, then a fresh one for the injection itself. I administer B12 shots to an elderly cat once a week and SHOULD have thought of this myself, duh; I know that your strategy will ensure an easier poke for Baggins. I hugely enjoy all of your content!
To be fair a lot of people don’t do this. But get a sensitive animal and not you can tell a difference!
