      Hey, I get it that you’re upset about something and there’s no chance I can change your entrenched position, even with facts. But let’s go over the run down:
      2023 I haven’t even given you my shoe of the year yet. So chill, bro. It’s not novablast 4. Real ones probably can figure it out.
      2022. Novablast 3
      2021. I don’t know that I declared a shoe of the year. (This was the year the novablast 2 was released)
      2020. Endorphin Speed (this was the year the novablast 1 was released)
      2019. Nike Vaporfly Next %

      @@kofuzi i been watching your channel for about 1 year and i think you are a great content creator. But you have chosen the novablast as the best daily trainer as follows...
      2020 novablast 1
      2021 novablast 2
      2022 novablast 3
      2023 nobablast 4.
      Im sorry but every reviewer and everyone who has actually used these shoes knows they are good shoes but they not deserve this kind of praise. All the feedback for the Novablast 4 has been underwhelming from every one i know and every reviewer.
      Also one last thing Asics is a company that should be critisized as one of the very few shoe companies that does not allow you yo try on the shoes for a period of time. Nike, Hoka, Puma, Brooks all let you try them on and see if you like them.

      I’d love to talk with you about our respective favorite shoes and why we do or don’t enjoy them. But it appears you have not tried this shoe. Perhaps try them. If the ASICS policy is getting in your way, consider going to running retail with a good return policy. Then we can discuss all day long. I have a livestream that I do Monday through Friday on the Kofuzi Run Club channel where these kinds of conversations happen regularly. I’d love to see you there

    I ran the most in 2022 and 2023 in the Novablast 3, with the Triumph 20 2nd in 2023. Still my SOTY overall is the SuperComp Trainer V2. I only have about 30 miles in the Novablast 4, with my longest run only 8 miles. So far, I will say great shoe and I think the forefoot is better in the 4, but I like the heel better in 3. I need to get some 15 to 20 mile runs in them to truly judge, but so far they are a blast to run in. Fun fact I wore the Novablast 3 for the Damn Yeti 55k trail (mostly smooth, non-tech) race. It did great.

      @@kofuzi So I didn’t run in them last night at the ASICS demo, as they ran out of my size, but I tried them on afterwards and felt awesome! I just walked around in them in store, but step in feel was still squishy and the upper fit was nice, more stretchy and simple, as they said the upper is just a single-walled upper compared to double layer in the 3. Seemed also like more sole flare on either side of the forefoot, which I liked. The foam didn’t seem too different compared to 3, but then again I didn’t get to run in them. I’ll probably get them anyway! 😛

    Hey Kofuzi. Discovered you recently when looking at shoe reviews. Really enjoying your vids, especially loved the Boston Marathon vid. I haven't run for quite a few years mostly due to back issues but hoping to get back into it, to a fun level with the family at least.Being a pronater I used to run in Brooks with a bit of stability. I've been reading about the recent science in regards to gait, pronation, natural etc and that what we all believe is not quite right. So I'm going to try the Novablast 4 and see how I travel. I think my fitness starting out will be more of a battle than my foot placement but we will see. Keep the quality coming. Cheers!

    Great call on the Cloudsurfer 7. It's a shoe that surprised me and many others this year. On Running deserves praise for breaking free of their institutional thinking and finally giving us a shoe without that stupid speedboard. I rewarded them by buying two in different colorways. It's light too. I like to use it for faster/flatter cold days when the TS9's upper gives me frostbite.

  • @Peter_Scott
    @Peter_Scott Před 6 měsíci +2

    Nice rundown!
    Really liked the Supernova Rise. Just felt personally for me it needed a bit more 'ooomph' on faster workouts but definitely a step in the right direction for Adidas. Novablast again was really comfortable, but perhaps too comfortable (is that even possible??) for my use as a daily. Might give the Hokas or NB 1080v3 a go next year. OCs just don't appeal to me. Look great… but…I can only think how annoyed I'd be if I got a stone in one of the gaps mid-run!
    I've been using my last pair of Pegasus Turbos for dailys this last wee while. But having racked up 350+ miles on them I'm in need of a new daily.
    New Peg Turbo 4 pics are doing the rounds on insta! :D Let's pray its better than the Next Nature!!

    I'd like to predict that Kofuzi picks the Puma Deviate Nitro 2 as shoe of the year. For two reasons: 1) He seems to love running in it and he said it feels the most "Boston" like to him. 2) I feel like he'd want to recognize the rise of the Puma Brand. People love their Nitro foam and they are creating an awesome lineup of race shoes, tempo shoes, and recovery shoes.

    I didn't even heard of Kofuzi when I had my favourites NB2 and NB3, and I am loving the NB4 as well. Some brands just makes things that fit, feel or looks better for some of us. Remember, all of Kofuzi's top/favourite listings are purely based on what his legs and body tell him, and seriously I think that's why we follow him. We want to know what he thinks, and NOT what his other followers think.. We all have our favourite brands for every consumer item out there, but that doesn't mean we cannot try to be objective...

    Been a long time viewer, started running late 2019 and bought the Peg 36 on your recommendation (in the wrong size which I was unaware of initially)
    Stopped in 2020 (due to injury and pandemic), and just got back late this year with a Bondi 8, extra wide this time, since I thought the shoe size was the one causing the pain during and after the run.
    Point is, I still prefer the Peg 36, and I'm glad that we have the same preference when it comes to feel so I can have a solid recommendation. IT'S PREFERENCE in the end of the day.

Looking forward to trying Novablast 4 at my local running store tomorrow. But, what surprised me about this top 5 is NB 1080. The Novablast is longer and more stable than the 1080s for sure. The Triumph is more comparable if you're looking for a change. Honestly, the Novablast 3 is the best version so you wouldn't go wrong sticking with them especially as prices fall.

    Novablast 4 and 1080v13 have the properties of a max cushion shoe that come close to the likes of the triumph and nimbus. It's getting harder and harder to separate shoes these days because everything is supposedly a daily trainer. Even shoes like the Speed 3 and DVN 2 are considered for daily use and they have plates in them....I'm all for trends but I do miss the days when companies dished out daily trainers with a heel stack no greater than 30 or 31mm and left everything else for a different category. Wouldn't be suprised if the peg 41 is going to be a higher stack as well when you what's been done with the kinvara series

      tbh, I don't remember when it was released, but even if it were a 2023 release, I think that it's a beautiful daily trainer for shorter distance/faster runners. But for the road marathon runners, I think a more cushioned and more comfortable shoe is appropriate.

    • @kofuzi
      @kofuzi  Před 6 měsíci

      I generally don't use plates as a classifying criteria except for racing shoes (although if I see a great racing shoe without a plate or carbon, I wouldn't exclude it from consideration in the carbon plated racer category)
      a daily trainer is a shoe that can be used for the bulk of your miles. great for easy runs (your every day run), recovery runs, and even some light workouts. great contenders in this class are also fun and exciting.

    • @kofuzi
      @kofuzi  Před 6 měsíci +1

      That’s always possible, especially where seeding pairs sent to some reviewers arrived four or five months ahead of production release.
      The other thing to consider is how much expectation is going into the shoe. For example, I have strong opinions on what a Boston should be. So when I get the Boston 12, I’m reviewing against a certain set of desired spec. And that may be different than what Adidas is trying to deliver.
      Similarly, some people (to the extent I can speak for what other people are thinking or hoping for) may have certain ideas as to what a 1080 should be. I mentioned in my 1080 review and here that the shoe has undergone quite an identity shift (so much so as to switch categories from max cushion to daily), and that could be one reason.
