- Here are instructions to organize all your different metal dies, thinlets and thin cuts from Spellbinders, Sizzix, Avery Elle, Mama Elephant, Simon Says Stamp, Close to My Heart, Stampin' Up, etc. that you use in your Cuttlebug, Sizzix BigShot, Tim Holtz Vagabond, Anna Griffin, etc. die cutting machines. If you have been looking for a way to remove them from their original envelopes and organize them on DIY chipboard-backed magnet material, this video will show you how!

I like this idea... thank you for sharing
I've watched these types of videos before. But your is concise and to the point. The washi tape adds a nice touch of color. Happy Crafting!
I did mine in a similar manner - but not adhesive and no acrylic bin. I had a couple of A5 size planner binders and clear plastic pockets (Snap 2-hole & and Avery 3-hole) around. I just put the magnetic sheet [easily cut with scissors] (hubby bought sheets from ACE Hardware) on one side and the packaging photo/info on the other. I don't have many metal dies and it just took a few minutes of instant gratification. Also, since I have so few dies, no need to label at all! I really work best with my flat supplies in binders.
Great video Stephanie. Very quick, simple, and to the point. Of all the versions of DIY die storage I've seen, I like yours the best so far. Going to give it a go. Thanks so much for sharing!
Elaine Faulkner , I totally agree with you. Best video ever
What a great idea! I'm just seeing this now in 2108! I've been searching for a great way to store my many dies. Thanks for sharing!!
love your studio !! lucky to have SO many craft products and a nice place to work . !!
I bought my magnetic pieces on Amazon. Plus they had stickie stuff in back to place on the cardboard. I then put them in clear envelopes. (Also Amazon.)I have many dies with alot of small parts that can easily be knocked off. That's why I bought the envelopes for added storage.
I bought my plastic storage cases much like yours from Micheal's crafts when they were on sale. Thanks to YOU, you were my major help and influence for my die storage. Works much better for me now. Thank you.
Exact way I did mine except I used double sided carpet tape as my adhesive and once I added the dies, I stored each sheet in a clear envelope by Avery Elle
Great Job!!!
Wondeful and creative idea! I will be organizing mine just like this as I am a newbie card crafter. Looking forward to your future videos. ❇️ Thank you so much.

Hi. Thanks for sharing this idea, very neat. What do you do with all the original packaging from the dies?
Excelente tu idea, felicitaciones y gracias x compartir. Para mantener separado una hoja de otra, le pegas al iman carton? De cuantos milimetros el carton? Gracias x responder
Amazing idea.
Please Can You Say To me, what is The Name of The tool use, To print adesive labels?
Amazing, I would like to Buy It too.
Ty
Awesome idea...ive been looking for shell/ ocean/ beach dies...where did you get the seashell dies?
Syly Syly Hi Syly, you can buy seashell dies on Aliexpress, you can even watch some other crafters hauls on them, that’s where I got mine for I think a few dollars. 😊
😊
I keep hearing about the vent covers, but here in Canada, or at least, Victoria, B.C., they don't sell them, just the plastic ones, they sell. But, I'll try Oriental trading.😜🙂
It looked like you took them off of magnetic sheets to transfer them on to the sheets you bought. I don’t understand why.
very good ideas on strorage but where can the magnetic shèets be gotten? the cty where live is so slow at getting anything new, it tends to be backward, so to speak. anyway thanks a lot your video it has created ideas i can use☺☺☺
Michelle Regis Hi! Do you live in the USA? You can order them online - search Google for "magnetic vent covers" and you'll see them at Bed Bath & Beyond, Lowe's and more. Also, another helpful person commented above and said you can find similar ones from Oriental Trading Company's website.
Michelle Regis I bought everything I needed on amazon. 8x15 inch magnetic vent covers, 8x15 inch chipboard and 16 inch long interdesign fridge bins to hold the magnetic sheets in after my dies are all in place.
Don't the SU dies come on magnetic sheets? Why not use those also?
What’s an agt gun?
What is the name of the die holder you brought from IKEA??
Try Oriental Trading for Magnetic sheets 12 8.5 x 11 sheets for $15.00. Another youtuber pointed me in that direction.
I live in New Zealand and that $15 US for some reason is $60 for NZ. Not sure how that works it should just be converted as per the dollar conversion. So I went and found them somewhere else a little more expensive than the $15 but it was 7 for $14
Do you think this is practical if you have hundreds of dies? I do and this seems like a great idea. I have a lot of magnetic sheets but not a lot of chipboard. I am sure i can probably come up with something firm enough though. Do they stick pretty well? I am just hoping they don't fall off easily when i am flipping through them. You sound a lot like Jennifer Mcguire!
You can reuse packaging like cereal boxes. If it's too thin glue 2 together. I've heard other crafters use them. Depending on the size you make them you could use page protectors to slide your sheet in or purchase some like Avery Elle. Happy Crafting!
Where did you get the boxes for your washi tape? They hold in there perfectly!!
D - hi! They're actually drawer organizers from the kitchen department. I think the brand is "Threshold" from Target and it's made of bamboo. :-) I bought a small tension rod for a curtain and wedged it into place to hold my washi tape. It works well!
Genius. I'm so doing this. Did you have to cut the curtain rod to fit? I'm also doing your magnet on chip board trick. I'm going to do it a little bit differently and utilize the entire vent covers and make my boards 8" x 15" because I found containers that will fit them. I am so super excited I found your video because I have tried four different other methods and I'm so tired of buying crap to store my dies! :) Hopefully those mother work. Thanks for sharing
Cards By Stephanie oh and would you believe I found 8" x 15" chipboard pieces on Amazon! Could not be more perfect. I couldn't use the small size you are using because I have hundreds and hundreds of dies. Wish me luck😂😂😂
D I don't know if I can reply with a link to show you, but if you search Google for "washi tape tray curtain rod" you'll see ideas. It's a metal, spring-loaded tension rod that stays in place perfectly and it's made of metal, so there's no cutting. I hope you can find it online because it's tricky to explain without showing you. ;-)
Cards By Stephanie I will look. I'm good with internet searching. Thank you!!
Dollar stores sell A4 magnetic sheets and backs are sticky
Where did you bay the sea dies?
Craftygirl Oh, sorry for not seeing this sooner! I think I bought them 6 years ago at a craft fair.
You don't use a protective cover
Oriental trading magnets are too lightweight. Try Marietta Magnet sheets on Amazon
Did you see the price? It's definately not affordable!
