    I applied the skater’s analogy today. The darn thing worked!! 100% improvement. I finally learned how to hit a proper backhand!! It only took 45 years! 🤣🤣🤣 Your tip is amazing! Thanks man!
    Additionally,, I used the skater’s analogy on my forehand too. And it worked well!! 😀

    congrats on 2500 subscribers! If you're still taking questions can you talk about the right way to take off power? For example, say you're playing mini-tennis warmup? Or less extreme, say you are hitting w/a 4.5 player and you want to give him good shots but not blow him away?
    Do you take a shorter swing? Different swing? Swing slower? Suppose you're having an off day and want to cut down to 70%, how to do this while keeping your stroke smooth hoping that you can go back to full strength?

    I'd love to see some more material on volleys, I find I often can't transfer any pace into the ball and just end up producing volleys that sit there.

    1:46 - One handed vs two handed backhand body rotation
    3:50 - One handed sideways options: 1. Out & forward 2. Out staying sideways
    5:52 - Two handed spin and leg drive advantage
    7:30 - Two handed racket angle advantage
    I have a one handed backhand. Very occasionally and only when I'm in a pinch I hold it with 2 hands - only to support a weird backhand angle that would feel too weak holding with one hand. My question: is it good to develop a 2 handed backhand besides my one handed backhand or is it better to focus on one of the two?

    • @ironwilltennis
      @ironwilltennis  Před 11 měsíci +1

      Developing a good general knowledge of the 2 hander for those pressure shots is a great idea. You see pros switch to the 2 hand every now and then as well

I would like to understand better the advantages and disadvantages of closed stance and semi open stance versions of the two handed backhand and their technical differences. Coaches seem to generally push for the closed stance version, but I am not sure why. It would be amazing if you could make a video on this topic 😀

      If you asking tactics, high rolling shot if you're in the back court or flatten it out if you're inside such as a short ball. Technique wise, set you're racquet Slightly higher and shallow out the racquet drop behind your body

    Enjoying the videos. I have a good forehand where i do not have to really thing about footwork or dropping the racket to get topspin or power (it just comes more naturally). But my backhand, I have to seriously concentrate to hit my spots when hitting top or pace. What do you suggest when hitting a return inside out? My issue is that I can hit the ball cross court with spin but not enough pace where it does not get pouched vs I hit a solid flatter ball that is more inconsistent and has less control.

      Inside out backhand is a tricky one but I have a little trick that helped me. I'll upload it to the shorts feed just for you. My other advice would be if you are asking specifically about doubles since you mentioned getting poached is wait with your grip favoring your backhand side and also go for a few returns down the line so they respect the attempt

    on the 2hb you stay open or semi close in order to hit? i see you give the power with the front (right) leg. I thought i should give the push with my back (left) leg. I will go out tomorrow to try more the open stance.

    Hi !
    Thank you for posting this video following the various questions regarding the backhand, it's nice to see someone so concerned about answering their viewers' questions.
    I manage quite easily to move forward by hitting my backhands with one hand (right leg in front and left leg which goes in front while hitting) but I have a lot more trouble in the forehand.
    I think it's because I put myself further from the ball on the backhand side than on the forehand, which allows me to move forward naturally.
    The problem is that I can't at all feel the necessary distance on the forehand side.
    Do you have any ideas for exercises or visualization tips to correct this?
    Thanking you in advance.

    • @ironwilltennis
      @ironwilltennis  Před rokem

      I will make a video specifically on this soon. but for now If you have a ball machine here is a simple one, for like 5 minutes use to racquets. Hole the one in your non dominant as a 1 hand backhand. a just bump the ball away from you (no swing) every third or fourth ball bring the forehand through to that same spot and just meet the ball. after a while start swinging

  • @sebtennis
    @sebtennis Před rokem

    Hey , a question for the forehand. I have a very extreme western grip, and that skating movement into the ball kind of chokes me up sometimes. is it better to do closed stance?

    • @ironwilltennis
      @ironwilltennis  Před rokem

      if you are using the full western grip, the next gen forehand might be the best way you go to incorporate the feet and power into thee closed stance.

    I try to step across on my one hander as it gets my front shoulder more closed for power when I follow through. I just stepped forward in the past and when I saw myself on video it looked weak as my front shoulder was too open. Any thoughts?

    • @ironwilltennis
      @ironwilltennis  Před rokem

      You still should close the shoulder fully using hip rotation to make up the difference. Power will come from having the hip come through followed by the shoulder
