Started on imvu for 15 years. about 4 years ago I switched to Secondlife, and havent turned back. It's just next level. It felt like I graduated from high school to college. Now it's my second income as well. The possibilities endless.
SL was and will ever be The Best...My personal Opinion as she said more or less each one got its own feeling to its own 3D Platform
You're absolutely right! Second Life is unrivaled and holds a special place in my heart. I've poured 17 years into it and can't imagine shifting to another platform unless it outshines SL in every aspect, which seems like a tall order. Each platform certainly has its own charm, but SL, for me, is truly home.
I have both SL and IMVU accounts started with IMVU created a store there, been in sl for over 15 years. play on SL mostly. learning to create on SL on IMVU I have several homes because you buy them they are yours in SL you get a free house or you buy land that you pay a huge down payment followed by monthly tier fees. But I love that on SL we don't have to hop from pose to pose. Plan to learn to create in Second life. I stopped logging into IMVU about 2 years ago.
IMVU is mostly a 3D chat room. it doesn't intend to be much else. But it does that one thing well.
SL user for over 18 years now. I've tried most of the others that appeared, but I didn't like any long term, like I enjoy Second Life. Maybe it's because it was my first virtual world, but no other were as intuitiive to use or as imagintive to explore.
As for me, I also have been here in SL for 17 years. Found that I really enjoy being a builder and hope to soon dabble into being a content creator. I have made some long lasting friendships here and really do prefer the more mature groups of people.
What kind of content creator?
@@secondlifespectrum I'd like to make unusual plants, to start off with. Seems to me that there is a lot of sameness in the types and kinds of plants. After that *smiles* I don't know; there are so many things to think to!
@@AthenaSchroedinger If you are going to make plants, please, make one side ‘flat’ so they can go against the wall without clipping or going through the wall.... 🙃
Until VR worlds cross into the Early Majority phase, I think the most important thing to come out of the launch of IMVU was founder Eric Ries' book "The Lean Startup"
Hi beautiful, been playing IMVU pretty much all of the 20 years. And very active as a developer and photographer. I find there are lots of ways of creating environments, rooms and yep parties just in a one room setting. I need to drag you around to us who do spend a little money to update ourselves. :) Also, IMVU very much has an older generation. Being 50. 😅 I wouldn’t be here telling you this if there wasn’t. I do agree it is easier to meet people on IMVU, since all you need to do is find a room of same interest to meet new people. You really don’t have to but to get married, but just like SL you still have to pay for your wedding space and decorations and so forth. And you can make credits as exchange for services. I pay for live dj’s and artists.
I say all this with me in the process of joining SL. And loving it. It is harder to make friends though many of my friends from IMVU have moved here. So I already have some friends. I do love that I am going to rebuild an old wine cellar and not just buy a new room to furnish. And going to the shops has become very addictive. 😅 I really am loving the better detailing and design. And how much I really can personalize my avi. I don’t plan on developeing or being a pro model…. Even though my old friends say I will. Because I am finding that I love living a simple no pressure life there. So yes hi :) I love them both. But I am sure there is so much you can show me on SL that I haven’t seen just like I can with IMVU. ❤
I noticed several profiles with ages over 30, suggesting that there is an older generation like on SL, especially among those who joined in the early days and have remained active. It would have been enjoyable to create this video with a tour guide. Feel free to reach out if you'd like to catch up. Who knows, maybe a part 2 could be on the cards... I really enjoyed the experience of exploring a different platform.
@@secondlifespectrum would love to do that too. :)
For now… I am going to do my new addiction. Seriously how do you guys not shop all the time? Oh yea the cost. 😂
@@forestmaiden Haven’t you seen my other videos? Yep, we do shop...a lot. But honestly, nowadays shopping events are overwhelming-not the thrilling hunt they used to be when they were a novelty. There’s just too many! I bought so much stuff that half of it ends up buried in my inventory. I found myself spending too much time sorting through my virtual closet than enjoying my new finds. Who’s got time for that? But, I get it-shopping events can feel like the Oscars when you're new.
Thank you for posting this.
I play imvu however I’m looking to get into sl when I get a better pc imvu was fun in the old days but too me it’s dead chatrooms suck making friends suck it’s not that social I only come on imvu cause I got family there and that’s it to me sl looks and has way more to offer from the vids I have seen on your channel and many others
IMVU is in a desperate money grab and has been since 2009 when Sony music and I believe Disney sued them for copy write infrigment.
Team SL ✊❤️🔥
Here, 30 years old, I've been playing imvu since ever, but I'm updated to SL, though I'm on/off because it's hard to adjust for me and harder to get friends, especially when you're an introverted person with a furry avatar lol.
Welcome to SL. Is it easier to get friends on IMVU? Do they have furry avatars on IMVU?
@@secondlifespectrum Is easier but at the same time is easy find enemies lol, and yes, there are furry avatars on imvu
Hold on, getting married in SL can be costly depending on a variety of details. You could technically get married for free in both if you just proclaim yourself married to someone. You can simply write "Married to ..." in your profile, and there you go, you're married. But, if you want to be partnered, that's a bit different story.
But don't you reckon un-partnering should come at a cost? Why should it be free? (Not that I want SL to make more money on us).
@@secondlifespectrum - Un-partnering can come with a cost, even if it isn't L$. If you want to RP out divorce court, sure, why not? But partnering/un-partnering in SL doesn't have any real legal basis. Yes, it breaks relations, and communities had between said partners, and that hits a cost at the social aspect, and for some people, social currency is everything on SL. But, unless those being partnered are married to each other irl, there really isn't much grounds for anything other than the losses and splitting of inventory, banned from access to lands, blocking people out of one's virtual lives, etc. that really can be done and considered tangible loss.
Whether partnering ought to be a sacred bond, and how is up to those that choose to partner. Some might be both married IRL as well as partnered in SL. Others have their RL spouse and their SL partner. Still others treat it like a business partnership, or some mix of all the latter, and other ways that one might be able to compose a book, or have content for a CZcams series about. But, however it works, there is no legal precedence to honor these partnerships IRL. SL could create some virtual legal system that could impose fees or whatnot, but apparently LL isn't interested in creating a virtual divorce court. Although I think there is a small fee for processing an un-partnering.
Please can you telll me in wich stores I can find on the minute 17:51 the furtniture for the babies like the bed/ chair to sit with them and the giraffe, dinos etc tysm!
I can't log in right now, but I am 99% sure it is Dust Bunny.
@slexandthecity Yeah, Dust Bunny, or even some Half Deer items. Many homes have mixes from many makers. I enjoy a vintage feel so my homes, when I have one, usually have a mix of Apple Fall and Muniick. Added: also Nutmeg
IMVU did the same thing to my account, they locked it and require an ID to unlock it much like Facebook does to people that don't log on for extended amounts of time.
I have mixed feelings about this. While ID verification on platforms like Facebook and IMVU can be a hassle, especially if you don't log in often, it's becoming a necessary step to combat the prevalence of scams. Recently, Facebook has allowed users to create multiple profiles from a single verified account, which helps in maintaining anonymity while also enabling the platform to track and manage fraudulent activities effectively. This system seems practical because it ties secondary profiles to one verified main account, making it easier to trace and address scams directly at the source. Although it's debatable whether identity verification should be a paid feature, it’s a safeguard that might be worth the inconvenience for the security it offers.
