We'd been discussing a project for a while, and we knew it would be an enormous task, but the obvious choice was to choose something from the Take 6 catalog. What better tribute than the first cut off their first album? It's hard to believe this track was released 23 years ago, because the arrangement is still as fresh as ever. The tune was written by Claude McKnight and Mervyn Warren, and arranged by Mervyn Warren. Jean-Baptiste transcribed it, and we stacked our parts from bottom to top. Evan edited and mixed the audio. Andrew mastered the audio and edited the video. Our video concept is a reference to the original album cover.
After all of the time we've spent discussing ideas, critiquing each other's performances, and basically just cracking each other up on Facebook Chat, it feels like we all know each other, even though we've never worked together in person. Perhaps one day that will change...
Enjoy!

THANK YOU !! - Hudba
WOW! I'm a Take 6 junkie and very hard on other acapella groups. But these boys did the damn thing well! My mouth was open throughout the whole time I listen to it. Im sure Take 6 are very proud and happy to hear there song done just as well as they did it the first time. I love to hear more from these guys.
HOLY CRAP ! You guys NAILED IT.... Props to the bassman.
You guys do Take 6 proud! It's nice to see the next generation after Take 6 keeping acapella music alive; and with a 21century twist. Good luck in your future musical endeavors! Keep me posted.
Stumbled upon your cover. You guys sound amazing! Just as professional as Take 6! I've subscribed.
Elaiyel Thanks so much!
this cover is so spot on that if you closed your eyes and did not know it was not take 6 that you would never realize it....awesome job showing some splendid skills vocally...
Dude singing bass hits a perfect low Bb at about 1:40.
Great articulation and note separation, all six singers,
I love Take 6!!!!!!!!!
GOOD job here!
This video just proves that the best will eventually gravitate towards each other. I follow most of you closely because you are THE BEST. The spirit of Gene Puerling and Take 6 resonates in your music. You should all be very proud of your artistic accomplishments.
This was good. Obviously not take 6 perfection, but nothing really is. I like your rendition. Really glad you guys did this.
Still total ACE after 11 years!!! Nailed it big time already back then!!! 😍
Watching this again...I come back to it every day!
Losing my mind
Climbing the walls not even knowing
What it was I had to find
Wondering if I ever would
There had to be some kind of something
Or someone who might bring out the best in me
Only the Greatest ever could
You
(Then You)
Caught my eye with a glow too wonderful to ignore
(Better sight)
I took
(In Your light)
One look
(Shining down)
Through Heaven's door
I never thought I would ever
Stumble out of darkness and prize the view
But this time I found a gold mine in You
(In You)
This is too much hard to believe
My life is changing, Lord
But now I've got Your touch
I gotta keep passin' it along
Down
(Deep down)
In my heart I knew there'd be someone like You someday
(On the move)
Hear me
(Knowing You've)
Steer me
(Chosen me)
Just lead the way
I never thought I would ever
Stumble out of darkness and prize the view
But this time I found a gold mine in You
(In You)
[Unverified] I have to admit
I never thought I would ever
Chance upon a love I could hold on to
But this time I found a gold mine in You
I found a treasure
(No one can measure)
But it's true I can't begin to calculate my wealth
And I never thought I would ever
Stumble out of darkness and prize the view
But this time
(I found)
I found You
(And finders are keepers)
I never thought I would ever
Chance upon a love I could hold on to
I never thought I would ever
Spot a ray of hope in the residue
I never thought I would ever
Find another prospect to interview
But this time I found a gold mine in You
I have to admit, I never
Firstly, let me say FANTASTIC. This song, when I first heard it by Take 6, caused me to stop my car, shut off the engine, and sit in shock...late for work. I then listened to this one song for 6 months, to the chagrin of my wife and everyone else who knew me. I continued to be stunned. So, I just stumbled upon your version and was sitting here admiring your faithfulness to the original...it's just incredible, especially doing it all virtually...with the exception of one spot....
😍 I'm an OG Alliance … Take 6 fan here. This makes me VERY HAPPY.
Andrew, JB, you're both songbirds with those high notes! Simon, James, why do you have these looks of terror and uncertainty on your faces? Danny, you're so cool, and Evan, dude you're too much hitting those bass notes! I love all you,. you're awesome!
Wow guys, just wow! This piece really showcases your talent and totally works with your voices. The visuals are great too. Well done!
Listening in 2019
Chills throughout the whole thing, all of you guys are phanomenal! And Andrew your editing skills are amazing, I can only hope to be as great as you one day. I love how you highlighted each guy when they had a solo.
guys, fantastic. Performed this chart in college and know first hand how tough that piece is... you guys are killing it.... hope you keep recording... you are terrific.
all of you guys are very talented and made me feel old too. I had that tape when I was in Germany and would break down each part. keep it up.
A new fangirl from Jakarta, Indonesia, guys! You all are amazing
There's a low note that Alvin Chea chose...I've always marveled at its choice...and it comes up on your video at 1.51, and - darn! - it wasn't hit (not because your bassman couldn't nail it, either). With that one exception, and a certain pause, I am totally blown away and thrilled you guys took on the Holy Grail of accapella, Take 6. To think you did it all virtually! Amazing! This is just awesome...I'm saving it as a favorite. Way to go, guys!
Evan!!!! Holy crap - that F#4 in the middle of nowhere was spot on! No glide or weird attack - 'twas perfect! That was awesome you guys - really nice work - as always.
You all are absolutely amazing! I grew up listening to this Take 6 album and you all nailed it.
AWESOME! Absolutely phenomenal. You guys are fantastic.
OK...I have literally watched this about 20 times since yesterday. Never have a seen such a successful attempt at covering a Take 6 tune. It's just brilliant. The voices blend incredibly well and the overall execution is just superb. I seriously can't stop listening to it and I can't stop talking about it! Bravo. And congrats on a successful cover and such a fresh idea. Looking forward to hearing more!
It's the first time, I've heard anyone cover an early Take 6 song so well. 1 - it's obvious you are musicians, 2. you must be lovers of the fantastic harmony and quality singing of the group, 3. you must have worked very very hard and long days to come up with this - just lie originally Take 6 did :) Fantastic job guys! It's a pleasure to listen to this... several times
All of you are right there👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 maybe a song that will force you to sing with a little more passion? "Spread Love" should bring it out of you.
Amazing!!! I want more! Take 6 is my most favorite but you guys ROCK!!!
Love Take 6. Love you guys, too!
This is *amazing.* All I can say is "Wow." I have loved this song since I first heard Take 6 in the late 80s and I am SO impressed at you guys' rendition. Flawless, seriously.
I always loved this track from Take 6.... okay I love the WHOLE album. I bought it back in the 80's in my college days. It's till my favorite Take 6 album after all these years, above all the others since then. I am MORE than impressed with your rendition. I am completely impressed that you were able to transcribe this! That must have taken forever! And I love the virtual collaboration. Awesome job, guys!
I am a huge Take 6 fan! I must say. you guys did an outstanding job covering this song! Keep up the good work!
A WONDERFUL INTERNATIONAL RENDITION OF A TAKE 6 EARLY WONDER. VERY SMOOTH!
To verify my point, go to Gold Mine here on CZcams and check the note at 2.08 on the original. You'll hear it. They say, "Hey" and you pause where it belongs and start the AND I part. Still, I'm so thrilled by your accuracy in so many tricky spots like you did at 1.39 - 1.44,and it's just so damned perfect at 2:05-2:10. Man! What a job. Check out that missing note and edit it in - you deserve to make this 100%, and there's no doubt you're capable.
In the immortal words of Lawrence Welk: "Wonderfulla, wonderfulla!"
No kidding, you guys knock me out. Congrats. You're inspiring.
I think I'll transcribe something for four part trumpet a cappella. Ciao, and thanks.
You guys blow me away. Couldn't believe my eyes or ears.
Fantastic! Great job arranging this one.
Chapeau guys! Awesome! LIVE for sure!
i have seen take 6 twice and performed with them and opened for them, and this is one of my all time favorites. job well done. (coincidently I am in the midst of arranging this piece as well).
The Bass singer is a gem... Tough to find one with his range. Very good job to all of you
Stunning replication. This was one of my favourite a cappella charts in the 90's. Your rendition is almost perfectly the same as Take 6. To be doing this separately and at a distance is awesome work...kudos men.
Im speechless!!! Bluffed. You are simply brilliant guys!!! Video awesome too.
Absolutely amazing. I bought that album 23 years ago. Still great stuff. Andrew, your video and audio editing has become SO professional. I'm very proud of ALL of you!
I found only one thing wrong with this vid... I AM NOT SINGING IN IT!!!! THis is HOT!!! It is the best remake of this song I've every heard. It is on point note for note. AND THE BASSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!! Dude is killing and hitting every note.. I just wish you all would have done it full out.. full length. It would have been worth it! I see a new thing about to happen on FB with groups making vides and selling songs and just doing it online! This was great.. I need more characters to type! ha
HOLY GRAIL WOW I THOUGHT I WAS LISTENING TO THE ORIGINAL TAKE 6 YOU GUYS TAKE MY BREATH AWAY WOW JUST WOW
Congrats guys. People like you make the difference. Keep on! (Brazil)
this is phenomenal! great job on the collab and amazing performances guys!
Mira Evan..
thank you guys so much for this wonderful piece of art, i have absolutely no reason not to adore you guys after this now... i just keep hoping i can eventually have the opportunity to make something as nice as this.
Great tune, well done! I also enjoyed how you highlighted the individual performers throughout the performance. Keep up the great work. I always look forward to your latest project.

All I can say is Wow. I do hope that this is the wave of the future of music. True musicians are tired of Glorified Karaoke. You guys are a wonderful talent. I'll certainly watch as you "enlarge your territory"!

Beautifully done guys.....
WOW! I've waited a long time for a cover version of this song. Great job y'all! :-)
phenomenal!
woooow im loving thiiiisss!! i want more!
I really liked the song, and the lighting you did. Also the Bass was pleasant.
This was exceptional! Great job guys:)
This has got to be the best cover of a Take 6 song. One man can't quite get the sound a multi track. You guys rock
+Marlin Sanders Yes .. 1 man CAN do a multi track cover of a Take 6 song but the sound of 1 persons voice doing all the parts is somehow.... not there. Because our voices (when multi-tracked) create a type of sound with overtones that makes the final result.. kind of dull and a bit dry. The beauty of Take 6 is in its varied voices and timbre that came together to form a most beautiful blend of Vocal harmonies.
Great!! Thanks for the excellent post!
stumbled out od darkness to prize the view....! keep up the great work guys! i love it love it love it!!
Brilliant! Great work, fellas! Spot on, as the Brits would say, eh James? This is a wonderful demonstration of how this amazing technology can be used to bring people together.
I'm ... speechless. This is amazing.
C'est magnifique!
MAN that's a nice cover - subscribed immediately! Hope for more updates soon.
That bass is Killin it!
More - More - More. Love it!!!!
génial! très très très bon j’adore la voix de jean-baptiste certe!!! mais la basse là c’est énorme!!!
Amazing simply amazing. Omg!!!
And the video concept is awesome!! Take 6 should have done one of their videos like that. Super creative.
@jibcraip I encourage you to keep producing this awesome music!!! As a BIG Take 6 fan I appreciate your ability to reproduce their style as well as establish your own sound... you are truly INSPIRATIONAL my friend!!!
Love this, guys!!!
Great work, guys.
I must say I'm extremely hard to impress. This is an excellent cover!
