Probably the most honest and transparent review I’ve seen for a long while. I’ve been watching your videos over the last week, and actually enjoyed your delivery and content, it’s very honest. You earned an instant subscribe from me today!! Brilliant video. I didn’t need to see you driving the car, we know what the car is from other videos, but the way you described your thoughts and experience of it in the video is more than enough to make up my mind, that my current F87 is “bargain of the century” as you said in the video. I purchased my LCI M2, brand new ,5 years ago, I didn’t even test drive it as BMW dealer messed me about so much regards the test drive and deal, so I went to another dealer and did the deal without a test drive. The F87 is totally amazing, it’s raw, and yes mine is a manual too. I can relate to so many points you raised in this video, hence the subscription. I wish you well with your channel and look forward to more content from you. Don’t lose the honesty and transparency, like some have, when you’re channel becomes really big and successful. Great content so far👊🏼

Great review, The GT4 point is what I also say. I own a M2C - and I mostly see 2 downsides on the new one. The looks are weird from certain angles, especially the design of the front and rear. The side angle looks ok. But as I sometimes drive my car on track, I already complain about weight, so why should I get a car that is even heavier? And again, BMW makes the same mistake, they try to solve the problem with better electronics, with wider tires and with more power.
Also, I really like the new interior, But only for the child in me, when I go to tracks, I don't want any more buttons than necessary, and I want clear simple designed gauges to grasp things in a sec.
I mean on the new ones - there is even a dial missing to quickly turn up heat/cold? Everyone who does track days - knows how great it is to just flick a knob to have more air ect.

That’s not an M2. It’s made in Mexico as part of BMWs strategic objective to drive down manufacturing costs generated by its M division. If Ferrari made its F8 Spider in Mexico it wouldn’t be labelled a Ferrari so why should we be calling this enchilada an M car!

Really informative video, thank you for your honesty. Really goes to show how much interest rates affect these PCP deals over the past few years isn't it. From seeing several reviews, it sounds like the G87 is basically a cut-price G82 with a shorter wheel base. For people who appreciate the smaller BMW M cars for their playful handling rather than their autobahn and CarWow drag race capabilities, I have a feeling that the Toyota GR86 would be worth checking out. It may not have the in-gear acceleration nor refinement of modern BMWs, but it weighs at least 300kg less, comes with LSD as standard, low driving position and you can really ring the engine out to its redline without going over the national speed limits too much on winding B roads. Only thing is, the UK market will be limited in allocation, which is why GR86s on the used market are still trading over their list price :/ So probably best to keep your F87 for now!

Frankly, the G87 M2 isn't the worst looking BMW I've seen. I remember people trashing the Bangle-era cars when they came out, and some of those models are still absolutely hideous to me. The E60 M5 still looks off, and the Beluga whale shape of the E63 M6 isn't much better or worse than the bucktooth G8x M3/M4. The only thing going for them was the screaming 5.0L V10, and even then, it's notorious unreliability can be a turn-off for some.
I think it's safe to say people liked the F87 generation is because aside from the design, it stayed true to BMW's heritage dating all the way back to the 2002 and E30 M3. The G87, particularly with its S58 engine gaining a reputation for big HP tunes, is more like a modern Mk4 Supra. Sure that can be good in its own way, but I guess that's not a BMW heritage. Ironically, the Mk5 "Zupra" is now closer in spirit to the old M2, and the only car on sale today that is closest in ethos to the original E30 M3, is a Toyota GR86. Similar weight, similar power, and both are more engaging at lower speeds than the current M offerings.

I used to have super fun cars when I was younger, but after couple of hours of driving hard in the mountains, I would feel tired and beaten. I’m a bit older now, still do the same thing, yet don’t feel tired at all in G87! Plus, feel a lot more confident in this car ( and somehow safer), than when I did with the other ones ( super aware of not killing myself on tight corners). Daily drive it in comfort mode, and feels like a nice luxury car. To me doing all this in a 450+hp, 6 speed, rear wheel drive coupe worth every penny.
