  • Full review of the Shark IQ self-emptying robot vacuum. How good is it? I've put it through my usual series of tests to find out.

The IQ series is Shark's first self-emptying robot and one of the pioneers of budget auto empty robot cleaners.
It was the least expensive alternative at the time it was released and still is one of the more affordable options to date.
Like Roomba, it utilizes a top-mounted camera and floor sensors for navigation. It moves in straight lines and is quite efficient even in tight spaces.
Cleaning performance is at par, at least with the Roomba I3 and I6 variants, but lags in deep cleaning.
The base station utilizes a bagless system, so there's no need to buy replacement bags, which reduces the cost of ownership.
But at the cost of exposure to allergens.
I've read reviews about this robot having issues with map creation after many runs. Fortunately, I didn't encounter these issues and the map was done after a single run.
I'm not sure why, it could be the small area or the updated software that might have solved the issue. But whatever it is I hope it won't be a problem going forward.
Let me know what you think about the Shark IQ in the comments section below.

I agree that it left a bit of debris on its first run. But the second run it made when it had full battery was enough to map and cover our whole first floor perfectly, and we have a large square footage. It is a bummer that it can't map out my second floor, but I suppose we can just carry it up and let it go.

Can you use the base of this model to Shark EZ RV911AE?

Does this robot go under couches and such that top lidar mounted robots will not?
What do you think of making this a part of your testing?
To me that is the only disadvantage of a top mounted lidar robot.
Thanks for all your great no-nonsense videos,I have been enjoying them for several years.

Yes it did clear the lower clearance furniture we have. Thanks for the I suggestion. I'll do try to incorporate that into my tests

My Shark AI Robot VACMOP PRO (RV2001WDCA) doesn’t ultraclean. It gets stuck in communicating with robot then just timesout with the robot not leaving the dock at all. How do I resolve this?
Cloud please make Ultraclean options videos

How do you know if it’s the 1st Gen. or. 2nd Gen.??

If you have the first gen Shark IQ, it takes FOREVER to map. The second gen you have maps faster since it has floor tracker. The first one never had that. If it encounters a jellybean, it will start to rattle and make loud noises.

I have it and it works good for hardwood floors but runner carpets ehhhhh not so much. I have 4 dogs and 1 cat and it does a great job getting all the hair from everywhere. And the other downside is if you have a pet accident and don’t know it đŸ€ź. But I have 1 upstairs and downstairs and love having it! I now never run the vac when I’m not home lol . I also run it on high suction and have had zero issues with stuff left behind.

Took 3 runs till it saved my map. Being able to map only 1 floor makes this a no buy recommendation for me. Otherwise, it would have been highly recommended.
