I have had Muslim ask me why I don't convert to Islam, as he was impressed with my faith as a Christians, (he just thought it would be better spent on Islam) and I said because I respect myself too much. It wan't snarky, and it actually fit the conversation we were having.
I said that no man would every hit me, or as he told me, correct with a "love tap" . I said a love tap would cause the man to draw back a bloody stub of an arm, if he was lucky.
We had many conversations, over several years and most of the time, or just about all of it, they were respectful conversations to each other. But when I pointed out things in the Qur'an and hadiths that did not shine well on Islam concerning women, it took him aback some to realize I at least understood more than most others, about Islam and women, than he was used to. And I am not the most knowledgeable about Islam, but I know when something is bad, no amount of spin can change what Islam is about.

These are just a couple of examples of how God wanted men to treat women. Jesus even got after the Jews for how they treated, in the old days, women, and how Moses only came up with divorce for the stick necked disobedient to God, males.
I can go on in context, for days on how people are to just treat others, with basic dignity.

If you may not know, in Saudi Arabia, women who do not have husbands were not allowed to go out. Even widowers were not allowed. All of the women Muhammad SAW married consists of a widow and women who do not have family, to take care of them and ro treat them equally. But some muslims have misinterpreted the essence of marrying many wives. In Islam, you cannot marry 2 or 4 if you cannot treat them equally. If you buy a lamb for your 1st wife, you also have to buy a lamb for the 2nd and so on. If you buy clothing, you have to buy 4. There are rulings in Islam and everything was written fairly. If you don't want to believe in a certain religion then don't talk ill about it. Would it be nice if I also talk ill about your religion just because we don't believe in it? We, Muslims, also have a lot of questions about other religions and if all us do so, I don't think if you would be able to answer also. If we are not sure about something, better stick to your beliefs.

I am atheist women from Kazakhstan, never been indoctrinated and never been religious. Always wanted to read holy books from abrahamic religions for knowledge purposes and now reading old testament. We allegedly have 70% of population claiming to be muslim, however majority of muslims in Kazakhstan never read quran, have no idea what’s written in there, do not go to mosques, do not pray, drink, eat porks and etc. i never knew such kind of things were written in quran and now i am insulted. It is ironic that Muslim women here in the Philippines can have jobs, go to university, run a business. I'm not sure in other Southeast Asian countries like Malaysia or Indonesia which are Muslim.
