    • @Ikaros1994
      @Ikaros1994 Před 11 měsíci

      Brainwashed barbarian truth hurts. Thracians are Greeks only ,
      Thraki, the daughter of Okeanos and Parthenopi. No other Greek tribe has give some much to Greek civilisation. With Orfeas, music, poetry and the mysteries. Eymolpos created the mysteries of Eleysina. They gave the rest of the Greeks Dionysus and Ares. They spoke Greek, competed in the Olympic Games (you had to prove your Greek bloodline in order to compete), had Greek names, eveything about them is Greek. They always took part in the biggest events of Greek history. Famous Greeks were from Thrace, as Thucydides, Diomidis, Dimokritos, Tegyrios, Poltis, Thamyris etc. It’s ridiculous, illogical, anti Hellenic and crazy to say that they weren’t Greeks. It’s like saying that Macedonians aren’t or the Pelopponesians. Everyone considered them part of the one and only Greek race. There is literally no proof that they weren’t Greeks. Only endless proof that they are and forever will be Greeks. In modern days for political and anti Hellenic reasons they are presented as non Greeks with no proof at all, only empty and unscientific words. No logic, out of reality. Bulgarians are occupying Greek land. The majority of Bulgarians are genetically Greeks but have lost their identity and are being brainwashed to believe they are Slavs. They portray Thracians as non Greeks for their own benefit. Thrace will forever be part of Greece, Thracians will forever be Greeks, no matter the lies, truth won’t change.

      So there are flaws in your reasoning but there are some reasons. So, your first flaw is, the Spartans were outnumbered, so it wouldn’t make sense to break formation. But the peltasts had unlimited javelins. And the terrain matters too, this place was not in like a choke point like Thermopylae, it’s a open field, so their forces would be stretched really thin to cover the field. The way you would carry out this battle falls nearly perfectly into the first of Sun Tzu’s 5 faults; “Recklessness and lack of knowledge, which leads to destruction,” - The Five Dangerous Faults that may affect a general, Sun Tzu, The Art of War.

    You didn't explain the main cause of the Thracian victory. The Thracian first use of the "Unbalanced Phalanx." Where the main force of the Thracian was sent against the left flank of the Spartans instead of the center. It caved in the Spartan left flank, allowing the Thracians to flank and roll up the rest of the Spartan Army.
    This was the downfall of Sparta. After the slaughter of so many Spartan males, there weren't enough left to rebuild the population.

      @@umbrellashotgunman thracians were indeed greek but he does confuse them with Thebes. Thrace became the center of the eastern roman empire, called Romania, which was.... • @oneman7638
      @oneman7638 Před rokem

      @@atreast.4331you can check ancient Greek writings. The Greek writers themselves indicate the Thracian groups were a distinct people that spoke a different language to Greek and had their own Gods which at time were at odds with Greek Gods. Many Greek philosophers would go to Thrace to learn about spirituality and other healing techniques from Zalmoxes. They weren't Greek, they were a separate Indo-European group from which Rome most likely originated later on. Thracian slaves were always the best warriors and gladiators as well. They were friendly with the Greek world, however, Greek philosophers and writers alike did not describe them as Barbaric at all, but rather a deeply spiritual peoples with their own gods and culture, and language, and council of 12 elders and with a system similar to Democracy in Greece, but predating them by quite a bit.

    • @atreast.4331
      @atreast.4331 Před rokem

      @@oneman7638 half if what you say is true. The later Greek writers,these of Hellenistic period write such things about some Thracians. Well to begin with both thracians as the rest of the Greeks had different gods , different way of writing and different way of speaking from region to region. That happens even in modern days. If you get a Cretan, an arvanitis, a pontic and a maniatis they will all speak greek but they will not communicate at all. There is a big variation of greek speaking which is called ντοπιολαλιά (nativespeak) . So that explains why also ancient greeks had different way of speaking. Phillip the second just "made" the koinh so all greeks can communicate easily. I will not write much about that. It is a whole new thing. Also the gods are different between Athenians and Spartans. For example beautiful Helen was a godess in Sparta. Not in Athens. Imagine the gods of thracians that were far away. Also thracian tribes differ from each other. Other were more thracic themselves, other were more greekish other more skythic.in terms of civilization. It seems like they share common ancestry with greeks. That is why they were and are considered as greeks. God Ares was thracian. Orpheus was thracian. Eumoplos who was teh inventor of eleusinia mysteria of Athens was thracian. And king diomidis was thracian. And watch this. All of them leaved in a prehistoric era and have greek names. Athens were closely related with them and Alexander treated them as greeks in the Panhellenic army of his . Ancient Greece is much more than athens and Sparta. It also lykioi, mysioi, moisioi, Paphlagones,kares, pontic,thracic, epitots and many more .
