Good review Jeem. As a Windows user running SmartSDR I agree that this Mac program looks integrated, and the Windows platform looks more modular when you move beyond the basic core functionality of SmartSDR. For instance spots can be toggled on and off in SmartSDR. You have to have launched another program on Windows and set it up to broadcast them on the port that the Flex is listening on. WSJTX and N1MM+ setup is similar with those programs needing to be launched and configured with connections to SmartDAX and SmartCAT. In fact there is a 3rd party program that you can use to launch the right mix of programs when you create a certain type of slice on the Flex. Slice with a digital mode gets WSJTX launched. Create a slice in CW mode and the decoder launches. Close those slices and the other stuff that got launched will also close.

In smartsdr windows you can change the sound input and output only in the sound mixer in windows, adding it to smartsdr is not required

I dont like Mac's, they are banned in my home. Lol
Flex is okay but too expensive... I'm looking into Don's recommendation of the Hermes Lite 2 and an amp. Either way, I'll get a HF rig at Dayton or shortly after. Im keen on mostly digital at home so maybe the Hermes on a PC is best. I would rarely do POTA/SOTA due to health and your hatred for going outdoors!😂... too old for that. Thnx Jeem. 🍻🤠

Marcus developed SmartSDR iOS first.... SmartSDR Mac was second... FlexRadio develops SmartSDR Win, 11:23 not Marcus! Ambiguous! Otherwise a good presentation!

Have you been able to use the record option?

I haven't tried yet. I have Windows as my primary at the moment, and that seems only to record/playback the last qso you recorded, and doesn't seem to save it off anywhere. I *think* the mac version might, as it has a lot more features than the Win version.

I have been using SmartSDR for Mac for more than 2 years now... The record and playback works very well. It also interfaces for PGXL and TGXL equipment in my station seamlessly and is terrific for remote operation. And incidentally... I don't like PC's and they are banned from my home lol!
