The IR is showing cloud tops. The dominant flow of showers is east to west in Jamaica. What you're seeing moving west to east is the cloud tops . This will increase the moisture in the mid levels and make it easier for lower clouds to build and enhance shower potential

* Yucatan to Panama.
Wetter on Eastern side of Continental Divide as elevation wrings out moisture, but still wet on western side.
Heavy downpours w occassional intense thunder n lightning.
Lots of landslides, road and bridge collapses, w displacements and some loss of life..
It is the Wet Season
