I really like what Tallan Pick, Wendt and myself came up with here. Wendt asked what we’d like in a pick set if we were to start again from scratch and together, we built this set from the ground up, re-factoring every single aspect. I genuinely hope you like them too!

I'm located in Texas, U.S.A. I own several custom picks made by Ratyoke, as well as a mixture of all the standard pick companies. Sparrows, Peterson, Southord, HPC, etc. I prefer the HPC picks for a few reasons. They are made from spring steel, and the thickness is .022. I resort to Sparrows and/or Peterson if I need something thinner. These new Lockmaster picks are the thickness equivalent to Southord picks, in which the standard thickness is .023.
So these Lockmaster picks are .023, actually a tad thicker, not quite .024 but close. I've learned that even paracentric keyways can be navigated sometimes with picks this size, or even .025, if it's deeper than a standard hook. A deeper hook can fit into the chambers in the warding we can't see. 18 to 22 are my favorites.
I've never ordered anything from the U.K. And I typically get lost and frustrated trying to navigate pages where I have to covert pounds to dollars, but this might be worth it. I've seen some hooks, and a rake I'd like to try.
QUESTION: Are these picks made from spring steel? I like that they are made in Germany! Finally, I'd like to say that I've learned a great deal by watching Lock Noob's videos. I've been into Lock Sport for only 4 years now, I think. Thanks!

I really like the design. Its a simple idea that opens up the possibility for a lot of customization. Someone could go as far as to implement their own handle designs if they were so inclined to fabricate some. If you have a 3D printer it would be really easy to do all kinds of things, including designing handles that extend the length of the handle if you wanted. I might pick up a set of these picks. I've been wanting to have a go at anodizing aluminum and making a set of anodized aluminum handles for a set of those picks sounds like a fun project.

Not so keen on dipped handles, as they are too narrow (for me). I noticed you included one of your very favourite profiles - another name for a precious stone - mine too. Flat top hooks, always great for placement! I like the 23 thou. thickness as well, a very good compromise. I feel a less severe triple peak would be handy as well. we thought about even longer handles. But that would mean that you can't put them in most cases from other manufactruers. We were able to increate the handle to 83mm from the typical below 80mm picks handles. The Idea behind this pick is that we also want to allow mix and match with other manufacturers.
But yeah maybe we can add some longer handles. we thought about that already problem might become the few different pick thickneses it would need to support.

I find 0.6mm a bit thick. I like the wide range or hooks. I use mostly hooks. There seems to be no sets available for a cheaper price. I think that could be a good idea because initially you need sets to test them. i use mostly thinner ones like 0.015 or 0.018 or similar. Those need a lot for a material.
My to go set would include hooks and a tripple peak. 99% of my use is with those. For larger sets forrested ball/diamond, diamomonds and some other rake (in that order).
I often get large sets to try out what I like but in the end small hook, medium hook and something similar to peterson gem get used the most. (and the rare use of tripple/quad peak or similar)

I didn't even know there's another German lockpick vendor besides Multipick. The picks (and the faux leather cases) are significantly cheaper, but shipping fees are significantly higher and I don't see why. They only offer DHL who are known for losing a high fraction of their shipments. To make it even worse, shipping fees within the EU increase for orders above 500 €, whereas Multipick ships to Austria for free for orders above 175 €. Penalizing customers for buying more is not the most effective way to boost sales.

Hey we just changed our system. we currently charge more for higher weights but yes we need to intoduce new shiping methods and free of charge shipping. Problem is we tested different methods of shipping already and to all countries dhl express and then dhl international premium had the least lost packages out of 1000 parcels send. in fact dhl express had only one parcel lost until now in 10+ years.
In fact in Germany and most of west europe DHL is known for least lost shipments. But it alsways depends on the country you live in.

BTW. the main Problem we have is that we have a lot of Locksmith Tools we earn only a fraction on. so sending these free of charge would allow compititors to bankrubt us. but we are already working on a solution for the lockpicking market. ;)
