Learn how to think like Sherlock Holmes from the book "Mastermind" written by Maria Kannikova. From her analysis of Holmes' behavior, we can reverse engineer how he acts and thinks to be more like him. Deductive in nature, Sherlock hardly ever falls into the terrible thinking such as cognitive biases and logical fallacies. Learn how to not commit any biases or fallacies through pure practice and mindfulness. Metacongnition can help you understand your thinking faults and how to correct them. The three basic steps to thinking and acting like Sherlock are, to avoid fallacies and biases, to practice mindfulness, and to never stop learning. If you can accomplish these for the majority of your life, you will undoubtedly become extremely successful. Learning how to deduce, and deducing successfully can be very exhilarating and quite addicting. Learning to be mindful in your thoughts and applying mindfulness in your life can be super beneficial to your overall health and well being.

Benedict was born to act like Sherlock~
Nah
Rdj is better
Guys I just finished sherlock series benedict is better .d but rdj is still good
@@yagizbaran4850 definitely
Actually, Sherlock doesn't use deduction, he used induction.
See deduction is reasoning from an infallible premise. The best examples here are numeric based. So if A>B>C, then A>C, no questioned asked.
However, in observing the world around you, and drawing conclusions, it's inductive based reasoning. And yes it's true, if you say, have a dog hair on your say, trousers, it doesn't mean have a dog. However, what Sherlock did do, is he would look for clusters that point to a probable conclusion, instead of just from a single piece of evidence.
I think what Sherlock uses is called abductive reasoning, which is slightly different from induction.
I just read up on all 3 and I too think abductive reasoning describes best what Sherlock does.
Sherlock does all of three but in appropriate condition.
@@ParthSingh1807-gz1wv Damn, I was such an awful writer back then. "No questioned asked", "it's true if you say, have a dog hair on your say, trousers". The doctors must have been right when they told my parents I was going to be retarded 😂
No shit, Sherlock...
Hate to break this to you but Sherlock's thinking isn't *SPOILER ALERT* deductive at all it's INDUCTIVE. Google the difference ;)
right, he mostly, observating specific things and reading the patterns and facts to form a logical conclusion based on theory, so its most likely to be true however, not guaranteed of its validity
Love this ^_^ great content! there are times when I don't work on anything and not study anything and it feels boring, it feels like you're dead already, unlike learning something everyday even if the stuffs that you have learned isn't that much.
Is it really so bad to think like Watson?
No, but it's better to think like holmes if you want to solve a case or a problem.
Cristian Villavicencio It depends on who you ask. To me, yes. Emotions are a distraction to the tasks at hand. To others, they go more with the flow, I guess.
no but it's not as fun :)
Yes, it is. git gud.
It's elementary

Good job man. liked it
Extremely helpful!
Thanks:)
Liked your video, you do have mentioned really good points. Thanks
In this book, Maria unpacked the mental strategies that lead to clearer thinking and deeper insights. She draws on 21st-century neuroscience and psychology to “illuminate Holmes’ most fascinating cases.” She writes at length on the scientific method of the mind, the brain attic, the art of observation, imagination, deduction and the importance of self-knowledge.
For me, this book is not easy to read (I didn’t read this book thru like most of my other books. I paused for about 3 months) but since my fascinated for Sherlock Holmes, fictional character created by Author Conan Doyle, is greater than the task of finishing this book, I finally did it. I read 'The Power of Habit' by Charles Duhigg and some parts of Daniel Kahneman’s 'Thinking, Fast and Slow' before and I found these books are almost similar to ‘Mastermind’ (or ‘Mastermind’ is actually similar with these other books). Some readers fairly commented that this book would be much better if she used a real character instead of a fictional character. I agree and disagree. I refuse to comment further. I suggest you watch Konnikova’s talks first on CZcams :)

According to this, I already think like Sherlock... The "Holmes way" of thinking like explained in the video is EXACTLY the way how I think. This explains soo much!
Very interesting !! Waiting for more videos
it's so interesting. Keeps up making video!
well done man.
real nice
Dude good job, I wish I could make daily videos like you but I don't have the time, however I try to make one per week, really inspiring I've subscribed!

awesome videos!! continue to do more.
+Adrian jasper Definitely more coming ;)
I readed the book one year ago, and I must say that you did an incredible work on briefing it. Thank you so much.
i enjoyed it!
Would love a whole video only focused on the conept of mindfulnes - you're doing a great job of communicating what's really important in a simple way. Btw, this video makes it a whole lot more interesting to watch Sherlock as well - jsut started with the new season! / Alexander - have a great day:)
I think breathing exercises are really useful to quickly and easily calm and steady your thinking and increase mindfulness. I find that whenever I use them they can make a difference straight away. Just breathe in and out slowly and deeply and concentrate on it. You will feel the chatter in your mind diminish more and more the greater your concentration is. It is great for moments of anxiety
Loving these videos man, you should put an affiliate link to the books you mention in the description though
Ur awesome man, keep up the good work 👍👍
Definitely! Thanks for the support :D
me ahorraron leerme el libro y ver que solo son analogías de estudios psicológicos ;) excelente vídeo!
Thank you!
this is some interesting stuff, I want to think like holmes too! lol keep them coming
dude awesome !!!! love you bro
+Jithin Joseph Thanks!
Says Sherlock played a violin... draws a cello... smh
Cooper Paddison Astute observation...Kudos
Pretty sure a violin, viola, cello and the larger double bass can have the same construction in different sizes. But it's not very smart nor common for a violin to have the end pin near the tailpiece. Something you would see on a cello or a bass. But you can't blame him, he also says "deducive". Pretty sure the word he's looking for is deductive.
These are smaller inaccuracies and doesn't question the integrity of the video because they're irrelevant.
Haha its just because i play the violin... I notice these things.
I play the violin too and I was ready to comment the same damn thing
@@Peteru69 it's cause he drew an end pin on it, which only comes on bass and cello. If you tried to play a violin with an end pin, you'd be stabbed in the neck
This was awesome :)
One of the best channels on CZcams !
+divyam sheth Thanks! I've got some great book and more amazing videos coming out soon!
I have Aspergers, and this seems very similar to how I react to external stimulii, problem solving and such. I can take an age deciding from a menu from correlating all of the various possibilities and which might be the tastiest choice.
One reason I think it's thought those on the spectrum have difficulty reading emotions is really that we have more difficulty determining between the general emotion (the one they want to show), the microexpressions and the spoken word.
Also, sometimes an environment, person or situation can instantly and unexpectedly become an incredible sensory overload, and can be either welcome or thoroughly undeirable.
I'd like to learn about some of the methods (CBT) I've heard can be used to help with social integration better (they're a new thing for me), as that's a segment of my life I think I could improve somewhat.
That's a super cool video. I liked it :)
Hey dude i'm enjoying your videos :D. thumbs up
I had a good chuckle when you described the Watson Brain, perfectly describes most people I see...
Alan Mak which, if you have followed Dr Watson, is not really a bad thing
Should we deduce you're that one special snow flake who isn't like most people you see ? :)
Sherlock is an LLI or INTJ if you care to research those as it may explain why you feel as though your different from the pack
I have the last one down! Always learning something new, LOL.
Very nice video and very good explanation....keep it up buddy
+Franco Lopes Thanks! Expect more awesome videos soon! :)
this guy sounds so much like Morty ;)
oh geez pudding, he does sound like me.
YEAH MORTY, I am sure every squeeky brain dead adolescent virgin sounds like you.
Morty after graduating high school
Moriarty
Lmao
Lol
thx u are really great

I like this!!
Great Video!!
+Jack Trowbridge Thanks :D
such a great video, :)
i want these type of videos for older age thinking, you know how not just body but mind slows down during old age too, how to remain brain effective during your golden years
In my honest opinion Benedict Cumberbatch is one of the best Sherlocks (keeping any of the other 70+ in mind) he really brings out the extravagance and arrogance of the character.
by the way thanks so much for your videos they are absolutely excellent, immediate thumbs up and subscribed !
Yes indeed! I agree with you that rdj is an excellent actor, but when it comes to the role of the genius, the mind acrobat, the abstract thinker he is simply three leagues below Benedict Cumberbatch.
Winston Churchill ye i don't see that...i like cumberbatch but he'll always be my second choice...he acts like a dick(which i like) but he mostly gives in to watson...and he seems too smart rather than crazy(as Sherlock was).
well I think it depends on how you would like your Sherlock to be. When I saw Cumberbatch doing it I was like yeah thats what I thought he was like when i read the books, it wasn't really that way with rdj. I guess if you imagined Sherlock to be like rdj acted, then you will definitely like him much better. I can completely agree with you that both are great but for me Cumberbatchs the man
So righttttt
Thank you 👍👍👍
awesome video
This video was perfect to show my friend the mindset to improve at league of legends!
+funnyjoshua Good luck!
how many types of biases are there?
Oh so many. If you want to know more about them i suggest reading the book "thinking fast and slow" by Kahneman, ha has done a lot of research on biases.
If you think that's good try uninstalling league of legends you won't believe how much better it will make you
Jk bro you have a right to your own opinion
Do you have those videos about fallacies and biases? I'm looking forward to it. :)
i LOVED this! keep it up. :))))
+MrSO9014 I definitely will, expect more amazing content :D
watching ur channel from Argentina!
+Federico Riedel Awesome, I hope you enjoy! Cheers! :D
I already sort of do based on your description
great video! just an observation, violins do not use endpins or spikes to hold to the ground, cellos and basses do.
keep up the good work :)
Thanks! :D
THANK YOU.............
After following all 3 steps, I can proudly call myself as a high functioning sociopath! :D
Yeah! Much love, and best wishes
It's very interesting.i'm also big fan of Sherlock holmes
❤ I love helpful CZcams videos
Very good
+Sherringford Holmes Thanks! Glad a Sherlock fan such as yourself enjoys this video, that means a lot :)
Thx you
love ur voice
3rd tip is great 😂😋😎
jeremy brett will always be the best holmes. mckellan was also pretty good from memory
I'll have to look more into this :)
What about Johnny Lee Miller :D haha
ansaree97 He's good too! It's just he's more quirky and he's on CBS 😛
Benedict Cumberbatch is the ONLY Sherlock. I LOVED this video, please do more on thinking/deducing like SH!!!
nice video contents..and whch software or sites u r using to make this kind of video????
I like these "How to think like ... " videos. I think you can do a breakdown of pretty much ANY character and get some cross-viewers to your channel. Some characters to consider: Tony Stark (Ironman), Einstein, Tesla, Musk, Steve Jobs, Ford, Frasier, etc...; this is how I became a subscriber.
silver play button!!keep growing bro☺👍
I know, I can't wait
I really like Benedict Cumberbatch's performance, but when I think of Sherlock Holmes I still picture Basil Rathbone since he's the first actor I saw playing the role. Brent Spiner was quite good too, although that was a weird case of him playing the role of Data playing the role of Holmes on Star Trek.
Wish it was longer dude but it's probably better to practice my mindfulness due to it being so short !
Subscribed!
+Vikraman 10 Awesome! Expect more great content :D
dormamu,I've come to bargain.
Doctor Strange?
Rami J Yes...
Rami J no doctor normal
Well done video Practical Psychology... Few things- Sherlock Holmes is said to have deductive reasoning, then some correct that to inductive reasoning, but they're both wrong... Sherlock Holmes uses abductive reasoning (look it up) to solve the crimes... and he's not a high functioning sociopath either... He's a high-functioning moralist, whom has, but suppresses his feelings, and exhibits none of the major traits associated with sociopathy. I've even done a Y/T video myself on the subject. (check it out if you wish) Now Moriarity on the other-hand... TOTAL SOCIOPATH!!!
good work
Thanks! Best wishes in your deduction skills! :D
I came here trying to figure out how to slow down time in my head while I fight 😔
i like your Videos a lot Peace from Austria
+Orpheus much love! I'm glad you enjoy them so much :D
Nice and short :)
Thanks! I'm experimenting between 3-5 minutes, because I don't want a video to be too short that seems like a waste of bandwidth, but not long enough to lose attention. I'm glad you enjoyed :)
thanks
Benedict Cumberbatch, definitely. Great review btw. I've been always fascinated by Sherlock Holmes.
I have one request if it is possible. Kind of like a "tour" on what books you have cause I'm kind of curious about what you read aside from the books youve reviewed.
Hope I'm not asking too much! Looking forward to your next videos to learn more from you and have books added to my list to read in the future. Cheers!
+Shin Retsu I'll do this in the future it may be a few months, but I'll get it done :)
Really interesting video, do you recommend reading the book? It really seems that you dug out most of the gold nuggets ;)
+LonelyBookaneer I would say if you had 30 minuted to read any book, this book wouldn't be at the top, there's quite a bit of analysis of Sherlock, and its not the most interesting at the beginning, but I liked explaining the topics :)
Nice video..
+Sambat Lim thanks!
Love the video! Would be better if you had a more suitable choice of background music though.
Question: Does this book look into HOW to do these things or does it just tell you what to do? I'm thinking of purchasing it and would like to know before I buy.
Bro which animated software u use ..your videos is so cool.
Benedict is the best i think. not only genius,he also has that sense of humor.
