    This actually worked for a Samsung T5 portable SSD!!!! ****IMPORTANT**** you CANNOT install the Samsung Portable SSD software that comes with the T5 NOR CAN YOU SET A PASSWORD on the T5 EVER!!! If you do--this tutorial won't work and you'll never be able to format the SSD to be reconized by your CDJs!!! THANK YOU SOOOOOOO MUCH FOR POSTING THIS PULSE!!! - DJ Rob Alahn

    Hey man great video. Just a quick question thats been bugging me. Why dont you just format it by clicking the "erase" button instead of clicking "partition" I have a 64GB btw if it means anything like i heard what partion cant be above 8GB; from else where I read 8TB. Thanks!

    Note: do not back up time machine to EHD with recordbox it will change the partition to Journaled and you won’t be able to access recordbox

      For all people wondering, you must hit View and select 'Show all devices' in disk utility to see the main drive. There you can select partition and follow above steps.

    I already have 1 usb that i use that is identical to the one i am trying to make, but i am now afraid to put that one in with the fear of it being deleted or something since i use this for work every weekend! So i know that the USB should work with RB and cdj2000, but this 2nd one just doesnt for some reason.

    Hey Pulse I have followed your video but I am get this message., you cant resize the partitions on this disk because it uses the master reboot partition scheme. The partition can not be modified. ? Any ideas mate..thanks

    Hi! I´m having problems with this! I do it just like the video..then open Rekordbox, exported 1 playlist, ejected the usb..inserted it back into my mac and everything was fine...then i kept on exporting playlists to the usb...later on i ejected the usb, then inserted it back into my mac and i just got this message: "The disc you inserted was not readable by this computer." Now there´s no content or partitions on the usb! i use RB 2.0.1 on mac osx10.6.8! Would be forever greatful if u can help!

    Hey Pulse - not sure if you'll see this on such an old video, but worth a bash...what's the deal with the partition map having to be set to Master Boot? I have just purchased a la Cie 4TB drive so that I can literally take my whole rekordbox collection everywhere (over the score, I know); however, I don;t seem to be able to format the drive as anything other than GUID on my mac. It seems to be working fine with RB anyways, but am I likely to have a nightmare during a set at some point?!?!?

    • @DeejayPulse
      @DeejayPulse  Před 6 lety +1

      You may be clicking on the PARTITION itself, rather than the drive - check at 0:53 of the video where I note the difference. You also may only be able to get MBR if formatting to FAT (FAT32). GUID is just fine if you'll only ever use it with a Mac and will never use the drive to update the firmware on a player.

    • @eldel6398
      @eldel6398 Před 6 lety

      Pulse Pioneer DJ thanks for getting back to me!
      Nah, definitely not that, my computer just seems to refuse to format the drive to anything other than GUID; it’s rather odd- it won’t allow me to format at fat32 either. I’ll get in touch with the manufacturers to find out why; but I only use macs, so all good.
      P.s. I’ve (still) got first generation 2000s- do you think there will ever be any more firmware updates for them?

    It would not let me format my OWC 1TB flash to master boot recording, it however changed it to Fat32. Will I still be able to play on rekordbox?

    • @DeejayPulse
      @DeejayPulse  Před 4 lety

      FAT32 is the filesystem, Master Boot Record (MBR) is the boot sector type, which we recommend, but it should still work with the CDJ in GUID mode, but you wouldn't be able to use that drive for updating the firmware.

    Hey there Pulse,
    Despite my best efforts, rekordbox still automatically shuts down on me whenever I try to drag a playlist onto my flash drive. Any suggestions?? I reformatted, but to no avail, and my scouring the forums hasn't lead to any solutions either. Please help!!
    Thanks!

I had a question for you, i have a hard drive i'd like to use, with both pc and mac in case a friend of mine has some nice tracks we can trade and load up on rekordbox, how would i be able to use it on a pc? I have trouble doing that a lot. Any suggestions? If so i appreciate it a lot thanks!(:

    Thanks for posting - I have a humungous 512gig Patriot flash drive which I'm trying to load up with around 10,000 files (mostly aiff).I have no problems getting the files onto the drive and have already formatted it, though I didn't use the 'partition' feature, only clicked 'erase' but it seems to work fine.The issue I'm having is that it can take around a week to upload everything - the flash drive is extremely slow. Will partitioning speed this up and/or is there any way to improve this?Cheers! R. :)

    • @DeejayPulse
      @DeejayPulse  Před 7 lety

      The drive speeds are generally unaffected by partition size / type - the drive itself is the usual culprit for transfer speeds. Be sure not to change the partitions while data is on the drive as some of those utilities are destructive and you will potentially lose the contents of the drive.

    great vid thanks! quick question,, ive had to convert all my ma4 files just so my numark cdjs, NDX can read the files from my usb.
    I made sure in Itunes in preferences they converted to 320kbps, quality is highest, and i ticked the ''use variable Bit rate Encoding'' box. (not entirely sure what that last box even is)
    I just wanted to check with some one who knows there stuff, will the new mp3's i play still sound as good in a club environment/big club monitors? Im a lil concerned the sound quality may not be as good.
    I usually use cds and never had problems with sound quality - big thanks in advanced for any info on this topic!!

    • @DeejayPulse
      @DeejayPulse  Před 8 lety

      Anyone who tells you they can tell the difference between a 320k MP3 and a full-bitrate WAV file is either high or lying... under most circumstances. If you're playing on a million-dollar sound system, the sound system would make it easier to hear the difference in the compression, but for the most part, 320k will do the trick.

    This isn't what it looks like or how it works in 2017. Jeez, Pioneer, update your how to's! You can't partition a stick anymore, it's greyed out. You have to choose erase, and then choose master root record. UPDATE YOUR HOW TO'S

    • @DeejayPulse
      @DeejayPulse  Před 7 lety

      Hey Jerry, thanks for your feedback... but this is my personal CZcams channel where I try to provide video answers to questions I commonly get asked, so I don't have to write it out over and over again. Yes, technology has advanced, the operating system has updated, and the screens may have changed, however none of the settings or preferences are different - just in different locations.

    • @jerryphoto
      @jerryphoto Před 7 lety

      Thank you for replying. On my MAC, "Partition" is greyed out and not available for any USB drive I plug in. Also, everyone is saying use fat32, but that's not listed at all, I can do exfat, fat, and OS X extended. That's it.

    • @jerryphoto
      @jerryphoto Před 7 lety

      I got it. In Disc Utility, chose Erase - format = FAT, scheme (if it shows) = Master Root. After doing this the PIONEER folder showed up on my stick. Hopefully it works when I get to the bar tonight.
