Just come back from Lanzarote and the local business owners are very much against it as are the local workers. The British and Irish tourists are far bigger spenders than the Germans and they don't tip well. The woman behind this move will probably be ousted at the next election.

Generally places that try to concentrate on high end tourism regret it because there aren't enough high end customers. Germans will go where they choose to go whatever Lanzarote does. If Brits (and Irish are very similar) are discouraged, they'll go elsewhere.

@@frosty_soda 'China has been alluded to as an emerging superpower. It has the potential to be the upcoming superpower of the globe. A superpower is a nation that has the ability to extend commanding power and worldwide impact over others and that needs exceeding in various areas of power projection like technological, economic, “soft” e.g., cultural, political, and military, and China is rising as a robust competitor for the position. Since WWII, the USA has been the world’s superpower. Now China is anticipated to take over as a superpower, as its financial, technological, military, and political impact keeps on growing.
China as a state has an enthralling and complex history which was molded by its inclusion in the harmonious act and furthermore warlike act. China has encountered a period of harmony, war, and favorable trade with its neighboring nations. China has confronted extremely turbulent times in history and also faced periods of isolation yet after the creation of the People’s Republic of China in 1949, it endeavored to revitalize itself and afterward it continues to rise through the policies and strategies of Chinese leaders. Like Under Mao, China was prospering in turning out to be independent in almost all assets and technologies.
Deng Xiaoping started various reforms and opening up programs that drastically changed China. He energized worldwide trade and permitted foreign capital investment which brought about China’s remarkable entrance into world markets and a flourishing economy. All Chinese leadership put forth attempts to strengthen China so as to compete with the world by concentrating on monetary, military, cultural, and scientific development. China has been successful in emerging as a worldwide power through the endeavors and arrangements of Chinese pioneers and now there are the possibilities of China to turn into the following superpower of the world because of its potential and of the phenomenal progress and supremacy it is making in the international arena.
There have been prospects for China to be the next superpower. As China has amazingly risen in the last three decades and has altered itself isolated society into a confident, succeeding worldwide trading power so now China is enhancing its power and financial impact over the remainder of the world. As in 1978, China positioned number twenty third in world exchange. By 2006, China was the third biggest trading state in both imports and exports and now it is the world’s top exporting and exchanging state and an enormous investor in the USA.
China had minimal FDI’s before 1992 yet it has been favorable in the most recent three decades under monetary reform and an approach of openness and the smooth change to a mixed economy. Presently, it has been contending with the USA as the world’s biggest host of foreign capital. After quite a prolonged period of extraordinary economic development, China is currently the world’s second-biggest economy on account of the potential role played by China as the fasters developing economy in the world and there are possibilities that sooner it will surpass the USA.
It is positioned third in number as far as military strength is concerned. It is concentrating to flourish its military ability, propelling military technology, training the troops, and building more air crafts, etc so as to compete for the USA. China’s defense expenditure has ascended from $19 billion in 1989 to $252 billion in 2020. Its maritime power is increasing quickly as well. By focusing on missile technology and attack submarines, China has had the choice to adjust the balance of forces with the USA at moderate ease. China’s military extension has caused tension inside western states and has been added in those nation’s list which has large military force due to the number of nuclear weapons it had which cause China to further grow militarily.
China is expected to be the next superpower as it is also enhancing its soft power e.g., cultural and political around the world. The number of Chinese diplomats is enhancing that would further advance the nation’s messages and interests abroad. As Xi Jinping came to control, the spending on foreign affairs has increased. China’s influence has been extended worldwide by helping the developing or the third world states by giving loans and aid for infrastructure advancement, clinical assistance and in times of emergency e.g., humanitarian crisis, etc. China is likewise advancing its way of life around the world. Confucius institutes have been built around the world that teaches the Chinese language and culture. Through development projects and foreign aid, China applies soft power.
China has put forth an intentional attempt to extend and give a more prominent profile to its soft power arrangements within the world. The commitments of China’s soft power ranges from well-being, humanitarian support to academic, proficient, and cultural exchange. Cultural exchange programs and providing scholarships to students are examples of how China has been spreading its soft power. The increase of China’s soft power has made a response in the USA, where the administration has begun shutting Confucius institutes, which is threatening the USA’s power.
Thus, through the efforts of the Chinese leaders, China has become a competitor to the USA as it has expanded its economic, military, technological, and soft power and now China is viewed as a contender to overtake the USA as the world superpower in light of the remarkable advancement and predominance it is making in the international arena. There are the prospects that in the upcoming future China will excel the USA and become the supreme power of the world because of the potential role-playing by China.'

No joke, I've seen British people go on holiday to Spain, only to not bother learning any Spanish, insisting on only eating British food, etc. It's just creepy. I can't blame them for not wanting us...
When I go to a different country, it's my responsibility to learn their language, eat their food, and respect their way of life. If I don't like it, then I can just piss of back home to England.

This !! It actually does my head in. My grandad is Irish and bless him before he got sick he travelled to Spain a lot .. he would ask the locals how to say simple things like goodnight and good morning and he would say it everytime he saw the staff after that 😂 they were so happy with him for at least giving it a go .. it makes me sad how ignorant and ill mannered most of us are.

What do you think England is like now? You walk down the High St. & don't hear any English spoken! We have millions of people here who don't speak our language & have no desire to learn it. So, this should work in reverse as well.

If you try some imperfect Spanish you'll usually get a reply in excellent English. English is the default international language.

0:55 Lanzarote is in the Canaries, not the Mediterranean.
Normally I'm quite patriotic and benevolently disposed towards my fellow British tourists. However, when I escaped last Christmas in Fuerteventura, I have to say that the behaviour of some of the British tourists in my hotel was pretty revolting in terms of noise, foul language, alcoholism, and indecent exposure.

@@davidholgate123 Exactly, so they don't need to ban Brits, they need to attract a different type of Brit. They should be changing what they have to offer, maybe getting rid of all inclusive holidays and cheap hotels. The problem is there doesn't seem to be much to do in Lanzarote other then sit on a beach and get drunk. So it's likely that this new plan won't work very well and they will change their minds in the future. I don't think banning is a good idea, because they're alienating all Brits and not just the chavs that are the problem.
