Maybe but one day he could reach a AI-level knowledge of one civ it could be enough to beat the civs specifically made to counter it. What the percentage of win of this guy against counter-civ against pros?
Because they cost 400 wood, which is really expensive, for only 10 villagers, which is also bad, and to add salt to the wound they have abismal gather rates compared to hunts. And also, if talking about European civs the villagers do waste time walking around the mill and bumping into each other, while on hunts once they start collecting they don’t need to move until the animal is out of food, so yeah, the benefit of being safer is very very little compared to all the downsides, and should only be used when you run out of safe hunts later on
