Wrestlemania 8 also had that fantastic Piper vs Hart IC title match
Steve and Larson y'all are my favorite podcast on YT but you should mix the audio in your videos cause Larson's voice is much softer in the mix than Steve's and it's startling sometimes. With that said, great RAWview, keep the amazing work.
And people give flack for how WWE is now, I now have the argument of WM 9 to defend this time period lol
@Chris Terry so true
You have all of 93 to refer to
Good review. I've watched damn near every review on WM9 and not one, so far, has mentioned that cool camera zoom out when Hogan gets the 3 count. Did ya'll notice that?
Steiners vs headshrinkers is definitely a hidden gem people should go watch it
Honestly, the first half of WM IX is pretty good! HBK vs. Tatanka was solid, Crush vs Doink was silly old-school goodness, Steiners vs Headshrinkers was great.
On the Something to Wrestle podcast Conrad asked Pritchard if there was any heat ever between him and Taker and Bruce said takers response was "You had me work with Giant Gonzalez".
R.I.P. Giant Gonzalez
Macho man did wrestle @ Wrestlemania X. He faced heel Crush in a falls count anywhere match.
Then they had to be counted out after that.
underrated match too, the rules are far different to how falls count anywhere matches are today. Their match was more like a cross between a 'falls count anywhere match' mixed with a 'last man standing match', but I enjoyed it, plus the Savage/Crush feud, a very good feud in itself, one of the under rated feuds of that year.
It was pretty good match
I was at this Wrestlemania and in hindsight everyone bashes it but at the time if you were there live it was a lot of fun. The venue was tiny, I sat all the way at the top of the bleachers (up against the building, the other side was up against Flamingo blvd) and my view was still great. Everyone in the section I was in had a great time. We cheered when Yokozuna won and boo'd so loudly when Hogan came out. This card was one of my favorite live shows I'd been to.
Bruce Prichard always gives company approved answers. It's why its hard to take his version of events seriously.
WM8 also had Bret Hart vs Roddy Piper IC Championship match. 8 wasn't good but it had a couple matches that keep it from being at the bottom.
Beginning of the end for Hulkamania was at the '90 and '91 rumbles where people were filing out of the arena right after the match. Then in '92 they sheered when he got eliminated.
And then the WWF had to dub the audience booing…
JR didn't incorrectly call Tatanka's samoan drop "fallaway slam". If i remember correctly, that's what Tatanka used to call his finisher, which was a samoan drop.
Tatanka called it The End Of The Trail.
@@ChristopherJames1993Heenan called it "Papoose to go" LOL
R.I.P. Brain
Now you know why Bret wanted creative control the last month of his contract. Because Vince fucks him over and over. Why would someone be bitter if someone they looked up to like a father kept shitting on them?
First WrestleMania that I watched as a Kid, so I'll always remember it fondly
wrestlemania 5 for me
I will say this about Wrestlemania 9....
Hulk Hogan looked weird in this one. Wasn't as big as he once was, and he looked a bit older.
Also(fun fact), "Super Mario Bros", the movie that came out the same year, actually alluded to this PPV.
Mario said that he was going to take his girlfriend to this show, lol.
Hogan stopped using roids and deflated
Have you guys ever done a top ten botched matches or moves?
Mania 11 is also really bad. Held at the Hartford Civic Center (the home of the Hartford Whalers)
😮😮😮😮 when Larson dropped the strange brew reference didn’t think anyone outside of canada has seen that.
Vince is definitely somebody who doesn’t like change but you gotta admit that he ‘eventually’ does make the right choices when forced to. He ushered in the Golden Age, the Attitude Era and now the “Practically G” era. Maybe he won’t be able to do it again this time around but he has listened.
Thank You Mikey Omega for making the Friendoverse Facebook Page 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Macho Man actually wrestled at Wrestlemania X.
The best part of 1993 was cactus Jack vs Vader feud
WrestleMania III is still my all time favorite
very good one especially steamboat and savage match
Unpopular opinion. The Mega Maniacs vs. Money Inc was a fun match.
Very interesting you guys did this watch party around the same time the news of Chris Hemsworth is portraying Hogan on the biopic. 😂
10:02 Sedan. The word is sedan.
I love Wrestlemania 9. I love the atmosphere and the old school goodness.
"How much further can you debase yourself, if you're Beefcake?"
Tell you what - shout that question down the hole, wait a few seconds for the sound to reach Ed Leslie, then wait a few more for a response.
First outdoor Mania. WM7 was planned to be at the Rose Bowl but got moved. And yet another Mania where it was on a Trump property, showing that this relationship went back far before 27.
And thank god. Trump shaving Vince's hair was a moment for sure.
I still want to see Mania in the Rose Bowl
Trump didn't own Caesar's palace. Wtf you talking about? Trump owned casinos in Atlantic City, never Las Vegas. And they did it at Caesar's Palace because they got paid to do it there.
I loved Mania 9. It's top 10 best for me.
$6000 per hour for an infomercial is really not that much when you consider that running a TV ad can cost hundreds of dollars for one 30 second spot.
Macho was in WrestleMania 10, how could you forget that falls count anywhere with Kona Crush?
Macho man was at WM 10 i see your point though. Lol
who dared disliked this video!?
I've heard giant Gonzales was supposed to be Bigfoot
palanquin is what it's called 9:05
I’m sure the event was held in the car park.
WrestleMania IX has always been a personal favorite. The esthetics for the event were some of the best yet. This 'Mania definitely had its faults...... large tone deaf faults, brother. But the the few highlights, and general presentation make it stand out as something special. It would be great if they brought back the "Roman Coliseum" look for a modern PPV......Royal Rumble or Night of Champions(?)
22 was my favorite
Bad Wrestlemania but no not the worst. Easy to sit through and I’d say it’s the 6th worst...
5) 29
4) 15
3) 32
2) 27
1) 11
Mr. Geo Give me a break.
29 was the most frustrating mania ever. The entire premise of the show was for Cena to get his win back in one of the worst title matches I’ve ever seen that somehow got Match of the Year. Besides Punk/Taker and a decent opening, this ppv was trash.
15 is clouded by the attitude era stigma. Besides the last match, there were no matches here with a satisfying conclusion.
32 is just 15 but a lot longer and even more boring. How many crowd favorites went over that night?
27 is trash as we established. Next
11. The perfect combination of bad and boring. I’ll argue that WM 9 had 3 matches I can go back and watch (the first 2 and the Hart/Yoko match minus Hogan), 29 (opening and Taker), 15 (main event), 32 (ladder match and women’s triple threat), 27 (Taker/Triple h), but 11 has nothing I want to see again. Hart’s match was awful, Takers match was awful, putting the title match under a celeb in the main event was awful, the ending of the title match was awful, and the main event with LT going over Bam Bam was terrible.
Mr. Geo I get where you’re coming from. I guess I look at it as all 5 of the aforementioned Wrestlemanias as events so bland that they legit put me to sleep.
I choose not to include the first 2 manias (even though they were both bad) because it was still in its infancy
15 wasn't bad
Larson is smart af lol
Heel Hogan strikes
This wrestlemania was awful, but it started off pretty well, but then it ended really shitty. I'm really hoping this years mania won't be as bad as this one, in terms of bad match finishes at least
Ha! Random
It was AWESOME PPV. Awesome atmosphere. The arena, was built custom in the parking lot of the casino. The ONLY blemish was Taker v Gonzalez. Definitely when Hulkamania was at its peak & winding down.
Great podcast though macho wrestled crush the next year
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WrestleMania_IX thanks guys
Mucho man was cared on on a lieder
Beet PPV ever.
Wrestlemania nine is not even close to being the worst the worst wrestlemania is easily 11 and it’s not even a competition
Wrestlemaina 2 is the worst
First
Sasha is so hot
10:02 Sedan. The word is sedan.
