you're just a bit too delusional man. the NSA this the NSA that. Also, do you really think casinos are that easy? They are multi-million dollar business. No such thing as a perfect system to win money. just get a job. Casino is more like using spare change. If you don't have spare change, then don't go to casinos or even gambling. never expect to make profit/$$$ when you go to casinos.
Nat Nat I can feel the patterns like a room temperature, most degenerates (like me) ive met and noticed were good at roulette has shared this in common with me. After a few drinks I can dial those in and win big. Hope this helps some
That's why he's the one player that I take mental notes when I watch him play. He never does anything accidentally, there's always a reason why he says something, or DOESN'T say something at the table. The guy has not only mastered the game itself, but the psychology involved in playing it consistently at the highest level
This video is really interesting in my opinion because not onlythis advices can help you to deal with bad beats, but also in everyday's life with adversity or bad things that can happen which keep you from your goal. A good lesson of personal development which can be applied in a lot of situations. Thank you sir.
Daniel I can't even put into words on how thankful I am that you make these videos. you keep me motivated to play poker. It's a slippery slope this game but at times it's the most rewarding. I love this game and I love the atmosphere no matter how many bad beats or bad plays I make that one good read or great play is what I live for . I know I will get better in the word of Aristotle "We are what we repeatedly do, so then excellence is not an act but a habit.
Thank you Daniel, I needed that. Noticed a spot tonight (or two) where I missed out on some value. Mad at first, but happy I understood what I did wrong quickly. Then later tonight saw the title of your video and realized instantly it was the video I needed to watch tonight. Everything you said in this video was exactly what I was feeling, and you were perfectly correct in your assessment on how to counter it. It's no wonder you have the success you do. Please continue to pass on your knowledge to those still willing to listen to logic, reason, and sound psychology. Thank you!
When I get a bad-beat, first I rage, but then I take a look at the instant hand replay and break down every decision I made and I determine if I lost due to mistakes I made or was it purely bad luck. If my determination is that it was bad luck and not a bad choice then I tell myself, "It happens, move on, be patient and double up". If I determine I made a mistake, then I rage again and then learn from the mistake. I think about what I was thinking at the time I made the mistake so that when a similar situation occurs in the future I might remember how it lost me a hand in the past. And thanks for the advice, Daniel. I'll add what I learned in this video to my "rules list" I made on my phone that I study and add to every day.
Just experienced one of the toughest beats of my poker career considering the several thousand up for grabs and a strangle hold on the tourney itself. That’s neither here nor there. Great video Daniel. Thank you for your open advice in this situation. For 7 full days my head has been replaying the entire hand over and over and as I’ve made mistakes in hands before becsuse we’re still human, I was 100% on this one and took it up “Main Street” on the river. Anyway I’m already putting your advice to good use as it’s helped me accept it a bit more. Keep the poker tips coming, please. 💯💯💯
Dude, if I didn’t know what made you an awesome poker player and a great guy until now, you just spilled the beans. Swear that was one of the best poker tips I’ve ever heard! Much appreciated!
Hi Daniel, just wanted to say thanks and appreciation for the emotional intelligence you display. Its one of the better leverages a person can have in life and/or poker. Breathe, think, feel. Great stuff.
Hey Daniel great to see a fellow Trontonian doing so well in life. Back in the day I played snooker at Madios and Silver Cue on the Danforth. Bad Beats - as you say we all take em - I absorb bad beats as badges of honour each one I take makes me STRONGER! - I turn them in to positive power or energy and convince myself that the bad beats I take will only make me stronger for future hands and my good beats are on the way. Works well for me and allows me to remain a gentleman in some ugly spots and more importantly this allows me to keep a good positive energy flow for my future tourneys.
Daniel.. Thank you so much. I lost so much at the last cash game I played, after winning 3 times in a row. This encouragement and these healthy tips are exactly what we need
DANIEL I LOVE YOU MAN! I'm still learning the game slowly and went to casino for the first time last weekend and I clearly lost and I needed this to get over my bad beats lol
That's beyond a great video. I hope you make a video about the key adjustments that need to be made when transitioning from cash game play to tournament play. And vice versa. Thank you.
Bro, you are getting better and better with every vid. Great clarity! Keep up the good work! BTW thinking of doing something similar here in Brazil. Not many good, clear, short and to the point poker videos here.
Hello Mr. Negreanu, I am a longtime fan and a regular tournament player on the WIN network. This is my first time ever commenting on a CZcams video, but I feel that I may have something of value to offer to your followers. First and foremost let me say Thank You for offering the insight into your poker strategies and the thought process that goes into it, much appreciated!!! I agree with everything that you spoke about in dealing with "bad beats", and I have been practicing the 3 deep breaths as part of my game for quite some time . . . but I have a few techniques that you did not mention that I feel may be beneficial to your viewers. A) Tapping your finger on your jugular vein just behind the curve of your jaw is an excellent relaxation technique and releases endorphins to help with mood enhancement/stabilization. B) When an opponent makes a mistake or gets all in bad (and sucks out) I try to make it a learning experience and make a note of the error so I can recognize and exploit similar situations in the future. This is much easier online where you can make player notes and save them for future games/tournaments. C) A concept I picked up from one of Mike Caro's books is to actually root for your opponents. As counter intuitive as this may sound it is extremely beneficial, as it ensures that you are not disappointed with the outcome of the hand regardless of the run-out. When an opponent (or myself) are short stacked all in heads up, I often interject a bit of humor and levity into the situation (which also helps with mood enhancement) by stating "If I don't win I am rooting for you". This is particularly effective as it lightens the mood, to some degree it ensures that you won't be terribly distraught when the draws get there (or the bad beats spike a perfect card) and a hidden benefit (that fits perfectly with your game play style) is that using humor and good sportsmanship is endearing to other players and perhaps they will not be as eager to bust me later in the tournament. I hope that this is helpful and again Thank you again for the channel and all of the information and insights!!! All the best!!! -Mike D
Getting back to inventory how you feel in the present (heart pounding, non-linear thoughts, "clenched" fists, etc.) is a great point as it gives me a few seconds to disengage from the hand then the hand is more in the past. Knowing it is in the past, helps me move forward because it isn't still in the present if I didn't slow down and a take a physical inventory as the "present" could last a while...aka tilt. Thanks Daniel, great tip.
All good info. Technically you can also ask yourself in your analysis whether the opponent had lots of outs. Often a great point for the opponent to bluff, because as the hand stands mid-rounds, say after the flop or turn, it might not be great, but if all those community cards are helping, then bluffing might be worth it. The player could be on to a flush draw plus several ways to get straights etc. Combine that with probabilities of folding vs. calling, and the odds might not be that bad. If the bad beat was ridiculous, then you understand that long term your play should pay off, but be honest to yourself when they had more than one or two cards to hit their much wanted (for them) hand.
Hey Daniel, it would be awesome to see a cash game strategy vid, and how a lot of the points you've touched on already would apply to a cash game grind. Lovin' the videos man
One really valuable piece of advice I've received is after a big hand loss or win, go for a walk, just a quick break for a minute to calm your nerves. Super helpful after a bad beat and also if you just got it in bad and sucked out on someone and barely scraped by to drag a huge pot.
the best tip is to stop feeling like a victim n take the responsability of your poker game. i will remember your advice, when i get to the next bad beat ;) thx daniel, you are my man (y)
Thanks Daniel Just lost my money AA v K2o and he hit 2 pair in a cash game..then after that I tilted I think..but when I realized that,it was too late.then 1 fish kept on reraising every hand I play and I decided to go all in with AJs he had 84s and he hit an 8 on the river.. freaking bad day. Thanks for the tip..it really helps to tell it out :)
How true it is about taking responsibility. Whenever I get bad beats, I look back at my other hands and realize there are always hands that I could have played better (to offset the bad beats).
I'm with you. It's just right up there with "buying a ring for "Wifeee"" Classic. If I called my ex-wife "wifeee" she would have kicked me in the balls! Ha!
There's certainly some value to the points made here. One of the key things to question, however, is whether internal identification is limited to actually dissolving the issue at hand?
For some reason I have anxiety when I first get to the table & put my chips down. It can take me 1/2 or so to get calm, think clearly & focus on the game. I pep-talk myself, take deep breaths but I can never shake the 'stage fright'. Once it subsides, I'm fine. I'll try doing these exercises instead & see if it helps. Thanks for the tips!
Backdoor wheels when you have Kings in a 3 way all in during a bi tournament are fun... thanks for the advice though and I understand it happens to everyone
The thing is that is bad beats can finish someone’s bankroll. I hace seen terrible players win tournaments an others get nothing. I am convinced that there are lucky people and unlucky people. Specially in important moments.
Daniel Negreanu Great tip for poker and life. What do you think about doing weekly segments about something other than poker? You are quite enjoyable to watch. They would be interesting to follow.
Understandable...but pleaseee tell me . at what stakes are their less call stations . ok a few here and their are gonna pay us off and good for the game . but small stakes turnys and cash games . seem like shuv fest . wheres the skill and practice to get better in that. thrilled your posting on youtube now . long time fan of your play thanks again DanielSoN ! *bows
Hey Daniel, thanks for the videos i think they are awesome and have helped me become a better poker player. I have a pretty generic question that stems from a specific hand i had lost a fair amount of money with. I guess my question is, how do you deal with a player that slow played an entire hand, limped pre-flop and checked down to me twice. Basically i had a Q9 suited where i bump the blinds 2 and a half times a pretty standard raise. The guy to my right calls me after calling the big blind. On the flop i hit the flush i needed. At this point the K and A were not on the board. He checks to me where i bet around half the pot, he later calls me after a couple of people folded. Checks down again on the turn, so i do the same thing and bet half the pot, after a few minutes of thinking he calls. Then on the river he checks down to me again where i go all in and after awhile of thinking he calls. He ended up having the K high flush. I guess for an amateur player i feel like i played it pretty decent i just don’t know where i could’ve picked up where he had the better flush on the flop. Thanks again for the videos!
I don't know anything about Daniel Negreanu's education, but he just gave the most succinct lecture I've ever seen on Dialectical Behavior Therapy, which is one of the most effective therapies for those who struggle with emotional regulation (go look up borderline personality for an example). I will be showing this video to my students because I'm seriously impressed.
I watched this video right after losing a spin and go when he called me all in .. i had 44.. flop was 443 i shoved.. he called and won A2345 of clubs lol anyway.. i went back and won 500 dollars by clearing my head.. thank u Dan!!!
negreanu, huge fan of yours, again here I am asking you, if its ok for me to repost your videos with portuguese subtitles? would be awesome to give those who dont understand what you saying a chance to learn from the master! keep going with tip videos, I really enjoy than!! take care
do you have any advice on what to look for when i wanna enter any poker tournament (for money i might add) when its my first like for example the international pokerstars championships in monte carlo?
Hey Dan, all those emotions YOU FEEL are worthy of feeling because it's REAL MONEY. I have those feeling and I'm playing for FAKE money. GO figure, lol.
Haha same i play zynga poker and i rage when i get bad beats. You'd swear it was real money. I guees i'm just competitive like that because i really love poker.
@@gowanugoodthing8719 Yeah, sorry about that beat the other day... I was just wanting you to fold on the flop... Then the runners came up... Who knew a 72o would bring a FH? Who knew?
You don't get to that level until you're able to control your emotions. Period. It's not comparable to something you do not put as much effort into... it's like Daniel getting frustrated about a flat tire when a mechanic would just get out the jack and handle it! There's levels to this
@@Kingkia33 - reunpacks the shovels - - sits in the lotus position - Ah... I see... - packs a shotgun and then the shovels - They gotta be dead first to bury them...
amazing how many older players in my card room who have been playing for decades still can't handle taking a bad beat or dealing with losing a pot when a player called their turn bet/raise with a worse hand then improved on the river. i want to tell them, "if you cant handle the swings of the game then don't play" but i try to remain neutral at the table at all times, if not positive. but when they complain, i don't want to sympathize with them either.
Personnal mistakes hurt more than bat beats in the long run, that's true. Bad beats can sting real hard but they're easier to rationalize and get over.
Don't be result oriented...try to have the best hand you can every time, accept your mistakes and learn from them, and when you get bad beats, even when you got in with the best hand...know you did the right thing, and smile....because in the long run fortune will smile on you.
hi daniel good video .... i seen you at the cheesecake factory in boca park in las vegas back in 2010 ... you signed a autograph on a napkin for my son... you signed play good Brandon !!! with your signature ..... he still has it !!!
I would prefer a "easy button" as opposed to cup holders. When that piece of """" calls preflop after your raise, calls the flop after you raise again, then your turn, and finally hits his gut shot on the river to beat your set....... Just slap the MF easy button and ... what appears?? Boxing gloves. A pair for him and a pair for me 😈. We need to bring the fighting aspect of hockey into the poker world. I would never leave a game upset over a bad beat again... It would make the game so much more fun in dealing with bad beats. Thanks for the share Daniel! It is helping as much as it can after this day grinding on the tables.
Daniel is the Yoda of poker. There is no try....only do.

There is a ton of experience, awareness and stuff you’ve worked on in this little causal and relatable bit, man. Right on!
Love this series, would love to see more
Hey Daniel great to see a fellow Trontonian doing so well in life. Back in the day I played snooker at Madios and Silver Cue on the Danforth.

Very good job Daniel to tell it so animated, you really make it possible to visualise what you are putting out there!
DANIEL I LOVE YOU MAN! I'm still learning the game slowly and went to casino for the first time last weekend and I clearly lost and I needed this to get over my bad beats lol
Great video Daniel! Glad to see you uploading on a good schedule!!
Didn't expect what seemed like bits of Rosenberg/ non-violent psychology. Great video!
Awesome, Daniel! I'm a big fan!
Please, keep up with those videos, they're very helpful! Thank you for the knowledge you're sharing! ;)
Currently Down and out in my life. Super helpful, it was like u were speaking right at me. Thx again.
That's beyond a great video. I hope you make a video about the key adjustments that need to be made when transitioning from cash game play to tournament play. And vice versa. Thank you.
Ive been watching all these older videos and I love every single one of them
I really loved this. I don’t know if I will be able to follow your advices, but I’m gonna remember them.
Thanks for the tips daniel ! appreciated you take of your time to help beginner
Your awesome Daniel, and your a class act. Thank you for giving.
Bro, you are getting better and better with every vid. Great clarity! Keep up the good work!
BTW thinking of doing something similar here in Brazil. Not many good, clear, short and to the point poker videos here.
Hello Mr. Negreanu,

Great advice Mike
Thanks Daniel. Nice genuine advice!
I need this...on loop.
That is some solid advice thanks buddy.
Daniel I love these mindfulness techniques. They work in all aspects of our lives, poker included.
You're doing great work here Daniel, keep these up!
Great tips! I have to agree that making a mistake tilts me way more than just getting unlucky!
Thank you for this buddy. Boy did I need it.

This is cool because this method of calming yourself down relates to anything in life and not just poker.

Then on the river he checks down to me again where i go all in and after awhile of thinking he calls. He ended up having the K high flush. I guess for an amateur player i feel like i played it pretty decent i just don’t know where i could’ve picked up where he had the better flush on the flop. Thanks again for the videos!
Well said sir
Great video
I don't know anything about Daniel Negreanu's education, but he just gave the most succinct lecture I've ever seen on Dialectical Behavior Therapy, which is one of the most effective therapies for those who struggle with emotional regulation (go look up borderline personality for an example). I will be showing this video to my students because I'm seriously impressed.
Great pep talk!
I watched this video right after losing a spin and go when he called me all in .. i had 44.. flop was 443 i shoved.. he called and won A2345 of clubs lol
anyway.. i went back and won 500 dollars by clearing my head.. thank u Dan!!!
negreanu, huge fan of yours, again here I am asking you, if its ok for me to repost your videos with portuguese subtitles? would be awesome to give those who dont understand what you saying a chance to learn from the master!
keep going with tip videos, I really enjoy than!! take care
Very helpful 👍
Love it!
losing set over set is an unforgettable experience
do you have any advice on what to look for when i wanna enter any poker tournament (for money i might add) when its my first like for example the international pokerstars championships in monte carlo?

@@billstephens396 I've already dug up the holes ahead of time which is the GTO way to do.
amazing how many older players in my card room who have been playing for decades still can't handle taking a bad beat or dealing with losing a pot when a player called their turn bet/raise with a worse hand then improved on the river. i want to tell them, "if you cant handle the swings of the game then don't play" but i try to remain neutral at the table at all times, if not positive. but when they complain, i don't want to sympathize with them either.
Good one.
Personnal mistakes hurt more than bat beats in the long run, that's true. Bad beats can sting real hard but they're easier to rationalize and get over.
You are clearly the coolest guy on earth ;)
Don't be result oriented...try to have the best hand you can every time, accept your mistakes and learn from them, and when you get bad beats, even when you got in with the best hand...know you did the right thing, and smile....because in the long run fortune will smile on you.
I shaked it a little bit, kept palying and broke even, but going home was tough. Being up 2x your buy in and going home empty handed is not fun.
hi daniel good video .... i seen you at the cheesecake factory in boca park in las vegas back in 2010 ... you signed a autograph on a napkin for my son... you signed play good Brandon !!! with your signature ..... he still has it !!!
