Hey friends! We're back yet again in the blocky world of Roblox with Ronautica! This amazing project is getting a sequel that will build upon and expand the original world, mechanics, and story of Subnautica to bring something new even for veteran players. Today I'll be joined by the amazing devs of the project who will give me a bit of a tour of this work-in-progress experience!

"there are quite a few things you have to work around", this puts it lightly tbh, Roblox expects you to use a lot of built-in features that you can't really make on your own and the features they provide tend to be outdated, it's probably why they use custom water as well since while the Roblox water is pretty, for some reason the glass material removes all shading effects when you look through it and the wavy texture will always be on the border of the material (unless you put a part of glass in between there but then you get the afformentioned issue)
Roblox doesn't provide engine override access unlike other game engines where you can do that, but hey, maybe in a few years they will catch up, currently there's a beta feature that recompiles LUA code you write to natively run on the processor allowing the code to run faster which is a step towards that sort of stuff
Yeah it seems to be a toolset where you need to learn how to work around the kinks :)
well, while you are right about the water, we also used custom water because roblox water is absurdly laggy, and our custom water system makes an infinite void really easy and lagless. The waves bacon showed can be toggled on and off to save on performance.

Although the water look a bit rough, the game looks pretty awesome. The graphics are good, way above roblox's standards.
It looks a bit janky for now but nothing is really finished so I have hope this will be fixed in the final version.
Gives me a question though, Is there post-processing effects in Roblox ?
Cause if there is it would really help with the deep water feeling. (I don't think there is sadly, I've never seen any roblox games with them.)
What do you mean by post processing, if you can give me some specific effects i can tell you if roblox supports them or not. (Also thanks, the water is not finished yet)
@@DeependDevs Effects that apply like on the camera directly (at least that's how they work in unreal.)
I don't really know the name of the effects but in unreal there is motion blur, there is like chroma effects (the red and blue glitch like thing), basically effects like thoses. I have very little experience using roblox studio so I have no clue if such effects are in roblox. (cause like I'm pretty sure you could code them yourself but it would take so long.)
I mean, we have depth of field, color correction, blur (not motion blur just regular old blur), and bloom@@Barklily

i have played the first version of ronautica myself before i even got the actual game on steam and i must say, its pretty good but i played on multiplayer and didnt know how to do certain things before i got subnautica on steam which im playing again and im already on mid game

When im was young i can't afford to buy subnautica then i found this game when i play this i have so much fun on it it giving me the best memory in my life and i just wish that one day is gonna be like the subnautica or better than subnautica and they make ronautica 2.0 they just look like subnautica and my wish gonna come true soon
