- 19-year-old Joanne is a budding artist with an eye for style and fashion, who dreams of becoming an art teacher, she has everything to look forward to. Except that Joanne has an embarrassing secret; she's addicted to potatoes and survives on a diet on chips, mash, and crisps. She's dislikes anything with flavour that isn't mushy - - but she's tired of the impact her weird eating is having on her and her friends' lives.
Freaky Eaters is a series in which nutritionist Charlotte Watts and psychological coach Felix Economakis help people with strange eating habits and food phobias and addictions. While Charlotte encourages them to eat new foods, Felix attempts to get to the bottom of the psychological problems causing their food phobias, with the aim of getting them on the road to eating a healthy balanced diet in just four weeks.

Her parents are worried for her health, yet they are the ones supplying her potato addiction......interesting.
Ma21 Ma21 what can they do lmao, it's literally a mental disorder, if they didn't she'd cry and starve
I'm sorry but 100+ bags of chips per week is insane. What a spoiled brat.
@@MelaneyDawson I don't think she would starve. She would be forced to eat something else.
Enablers
Sandy Husacek I now imagine how much money her parents spend on her she doesn’t even buy them like wtf
Her mum having a giggle about her not knowing what to do with a knife and fork is ridiculous. She's laughing at her daughter for not knowing something that the parents should have taught her when she was a child.
raeanadae yeh true but then she’s ALWAYS ate chips and who eats fork and knife with chips... but yh they still should’ve taught her
She should be embarrassed, not laughing at her
Am I the only one who cringes so much when the specialist come up to the camera In the intro
Disgraceful
I have a friend who is a pre-K teacher in the US. Every year, she says she has to teach more and more 4 year olds how to use a knife and fork at lunch because they've never used them before. She can tell what families routinely sit down to home cooked meals. It's not very many.
Why do they always make them go straight to vegetables? Maybe they could try toast and crackers, etc. That would have to be an easier transition.
Maggie Mae I think that’s stupid too. That one episode they had that one dude try octopus 🐙. Stupid.
She already eats bread so they are making her eat things she hasnt eaten before
True
She said she eats bread
Because she desperately needs them in her diet immediately. She's so deficient so the first thing she needs to be able to eat is fruit and vegetables
She's already got the "can I speak to a manager" haircut at 19. Wow.
I call it a "Karen Kut"
Puddles Da Molten A *”Karen Kut!”* 😱😱
More like its called, "a hair style". Get your shit straight.

**watches while eating crisps**
lol..you make a good friend😂😂😂
😝😝😝
Omg me too
🤣🤣🤣
What Are crisps? Is that a food in England?
Me eating family size bag of chips: she better change her ways befor she gets heart disease all that salt can't be good for her
Did you see how much salt she put her n her mom's mashed potatoes. Also, no one taught her how to hold a fork properly. She holds it like it is a shovel.
I’m literally eating a bag of chips by myself
You are right
But she eats them 10 times a day everyday. Your eating one bag. Not the same lol
But you dont eat that much do you
This feels like classic OCD in addition to being an earring disorder. And her parents are enabling her; food as just a potent drug as heroin. My heart goes out to her and pray that she’ll be able to rise above her mental health struggles to find happiness.
To me it felt like it could also be sensory related ARFID
On special occasions Joan treats herself to chips.
*Hi Joan the usual again?*
Her name is JoAnn.
She’s 19? I genuinely thought she was in her thirties....
She does look old.
Me too. I'm 35 and look younger than her lmao.
@Luc she probably does ... Joanne looks older because malnourishment causes premature ageing
It's probably the way she has her hair cut and colored.
...but talks like a toddler.
Her mom: oh it’s okay sweetie you can have some crisps.
My mom: if you even try to look at crisps I will rip your eyes out
My mom only lets me eat crisps once a year 😂
-ᘜᗩᑕᕼᗩ _ᑫᑌIᑎᑎ - lmao 😂

-crack-head - mine only let me eat those shits once a month
“She doesn’t eat any vegetable and fruits”
What is a potato?
A source of starch, look at any nutritional advice - potato is in the pasta, rice, carbs category, they don't count the potato in 'five a day' guidance etc
A starch, which is a carbohydrate. Potato is included in the rice, pasta, cereal category in the eatwell plate, and not counted as a 5 a day:)
@@H0NGJAE lol yea

I like Joanne's new motto 'Try it, what's the worst that can happen'. It's really good to see her happier. Such a strong young woman, it wasn't easy but she did it.
She is literally the opposite of strong
This will work, until she experiences anaphylaxis.
She’s afraid of “lumpy” food but nothing is more lumpy to me than mash potatoes 😂
🤔.. Right! 😂😂😂😂😂. She's putting on for the camera
*Thats where I got stuck too! Those potatoes were a lumpy, bumpy mess...* 🤷🏻♀️
Well, sometimes mash potatoes can be smooth, depending on how much you mash them or what you use to make them e.t.c . I don’t like it when mash potatoes are chunky, I prefer smooth.
What mashed potatoes are you eating?? Use a ricer. No lumps.
Then you’ve obviously never tried proper mashed potato
WHY THROW AWAY ALL THE CRISPS??? DONATE THEM TO FOOD BANKS OR HOMELESS SHELTERS!!!
S R well yeah but it would just be a treat. Not like you would’ve eating it like how she does!
Most food banks have a very strict list of what they accept, and crisps certainly isn’t on it
Jude Lewis it’s a Waste of money
As long as they are Golden Wonder. Everything else is bin-worthy 🗑
Jude thats exactly what i yelled at the tv when i saw that. And if food banks wont take it im sure a hungry peraon the the side of the road will
As someone who still struggles with fussy eating at 32, i think she did amazingly considering how bad her anxiety around food was!
🤣

Sorry but who is the parent here? Stop enabling this total bs. She's 19 years old but acts like a toddler.
I’m so Proud of Her, Everyone in the Comments are so Harsh... She’s not Necessarily Childlike, She’s Scared...
To be fair, the title of the episode primed a harsher response. I get it click bait but geez!
She seems very sheltered. Her parents have reinforced her childish belief systems to the point where she is crippled without them. They haven't taught her how to navigate the world, and that is a disservice to a child.
You’re SPOT on
True if it’s the case but she be a very very very mild autistic. Just saying this as someone with autism myself.
@@duckledoodledooser7551, there are proven ways to deal with that as parents.
Agreed. What a spoiled brat. But no t only parents, she's 19 now, so it's about time she takes some responsibility for her eating habits herself. I mean she's way to old to be eating like a spoiled toddler.
The notorious umbilical cord... First, they like their kids to be dependent on them; then they convince themselves that they are indispensable; as a result, they cling to their children strangling them with their parental love. I am very surprised to find out she has a boyfriend because parents like hers don't usually tolerate any rivals/ competitors trying to win their kids' love.
She is 19 years old, looks like she's thirty and behaves like five year old.
Robert Avery no she doesn’t
@@gkaiser10 yes she does
She acts like a 5 year old but she looks 19-24
You are right
She doesn't look like thirty. Like 25 maybe but not 30
Incredible how trained professionals can change one's life for the better. It was like watching a movie about a protagonist growing up and facing her enemies. What a happy ending. Good for her!
“we don’t have to buy 100 bags of crisps anymore, now we only buy 20”
20 bags of chips?!? that’s still way too many for weekly shopping!!
😂thats still so many
Compared to how much see had before I’d still be proud of her.
At least they don’t need 80 more
Blame the parent the keep enabling her habits
14:24
Finally!! Finally one of these shows addresses the failure of the parents. Their first stop should have been the g.p when she was a child for a physical then to a psychiatrist or psychologist. Every single time I watch these shows they gloss over the fact that the parents failure to do anything when they were little made the problem much bigger. Good job!
I think there is a physiological issue besides enabling parents.
My parents took me to the GP, counselling ect... many times during my childhood
it's suprisingly easy to stop children being fussy eaters in a couple of days. Most kids go through a phase of it at around the same age..just boundary pushing, perfectly normal..but if parents just indulge it, it wont stop...obviously, all kids want attention..and playing on mothers guilt is a great way to do it!

Joanne has serious psychological problems. More than some gimmicky television program can cure.
MSS. Millennial Snowflake Syndrome.
I hate how this program kept calling her a child, so disrespectful, she has a very bad eating disorder. Her parents laughing about how she doesnt know how to cut her food actually enraged me.
@@ArtwithKrissy exactly. It's their damn fault she can't cut her food. They faild in raising and teaching her properly
Thank you!
It really bothered me when they kept calling her a child too and saying her anxiety is childish. I also cant go outside without someone with me because I'll have panic attacks on my own and get so much anxiety about leaving my house and if someone were to be like that's just you being childish itd make me feel soooo much worse. I definitely think she should try therapy to help with those feelings because it's more then just "being childish"
Im just confused on how she’s not dead
Eating like that won't kill you instantly. Also, she was 19 at the time.
She’s 19. At that age you could eat Tupperware and get by. It’s when you get older that the problems start.

These kinds of cases are when the parents allow their kids to be the boss.
You don't allow a child to tell _you_ what _they're_ gonna eat. You introduce new foods into their diet, and incorporate what they like with new things.
Otherwise, this is the result of it. There's another video on YT, where a woman eats only French fries for 26 years and her daughter learned her "I don't like this food," type of behavior.
