Perfect walking tour in Box Hill! Thanks for sharing to everyone! Box Hill has been big changed from old time to present! The Box Hill Central was used to be Whitehorse Plaza in Main Street! Never seen 4 new tall buildings surprised me look sound different! I used to live Box Hill for many years from 1959 to 1988. ;)

My father got his Australian citizenship at this white town hall. He also called his business ‘White Horse Plaster’ after the statue on Whitehorse Rd….. I love being taken back and seeing all my childhood memories. Thank you. 😊

What is considered an improvement is of course subjective. If you grew up there, and if you don't like feeling like you've now become a foreigner in your own hometown, then no, it is anything but an improvement.
@@echelon2k8 Just look at the skyline, the rate of urbanization and the GDP and tell me that is not an improvement? I agreed that removing the tram from Box Hill to Doncaster is a bad move, but Box Hill is still improved from its predecessor.
@@donsevcik4317 No, the skyline is not an improvement, it is an eyesore. All the new buildings constantly springing up from the ground and ruining the old vistas that we grew up with are like an unstoppable cancer that is killing the host. The rate of urbanization, you say... We never asked for this; we never asked for Box Hill to be removed from what it once was: Our home. Whoever wanted Box Hill to be turned into a future Shanghai wannabe against our wishes ought to be shot!

10:49 The 30+ floor buildings make central Box Hill a very unpleasant place to walk these days due to the constant wind, even worse when raining. The 36 floor 'Egg Holic' tower is the worst of them all. Corrupt developers and council are quickly turning it into a mini CBD with all the problems that causes. Box Hill has always had a great multi-cultural community, but these developers have no interest in preserving/improving this whatsoever and will happily destroy it for money. Most major shops have closed down in the past 5 years in Box Hill Central and Whitehorse Plaza. So apart from the food market and restaurants there is no other reason to go the central Box Hill. Sorry, I forget about the train station that has not been upgraded since built in the early 1980s. The station is so rubbish that one of its 4 platforms is STILL completely unused ( no rails even laid down) 40 years later.
Corrupt are not only the developers, politicians as well.

I hope so, with the increase in population it will be on track to be as urbanized as Paramatta
