- I travel to Melbourne, Australia in the state of Victoria to find out how Melbourne was voted one of the most livable cities in the world throughout the 2010s till present day. Melbourne is always in competition with Sydney as the best city in Australia. I explore the city by train and on foot to see all the sights and sounds of the city, as well as it's surrounding neighborhoods.

I spent a week in Melbourne during a longer trip to Australia and NZ and despite not liking big cities that much I completely fell in love with the place. Easy to navigate, everything is within walking distance (I don't think I used the inner city free tram once or public transport at all for that matter) clean, modern and great balance of cultural diversity. One of my favourite memories was visiting the botanical gardens and looking back at the skyline. Also st kilda beach is really cozy and clean. Will definitely visit again despite the 24 hour journey.
Definitely - I wasn't a big fan of cities either, but really loved to explore and find places from where to take photos in Melbourne. Glad you had a great time!
I really enjoyed this walk, thanks for the video my friend!
Sure thing!

My pleasure 😊
Absolutely amazing city❤❤❤❤❤❤
Have had several visits to Melbourne as my daughter Lucy moved there in 1989. To her credit, she has not affected an Oz accent, although my two Oz grandchildren, Jemima and Max are not strongly, accented , but definitely Australian.Sadly, as I am now 88, no further visits will be possible, but my wonderful memories will remain with me for as long as I survive. Delighted that Lucy is coming to England, May 29th, her mother;s birthday, so I can indulge her the way and loving and generous father should. March, 2024, England.
Hey Ronald, that's really sweet. I hope you and your daughter Lucy can share many great stories together when she comes to visit. Thank you for watching my video on Melbourne and I hope you have a great weekend!
Great presentation all around!
Thank you so much Mylah! Happy to share and hear the kind words!
Cool video, great cinematography. Thanks bro.
Much appreciated Curtis, cheers
So vibrant and invigorating life in Melbourne! Poor koalas :( Thank you for your dynamic review on the city 🦘👍
Glad you enjoyed it
Thank you for your kind words! Melbourne truly is a vibrant and invigorating city with so much to offer. It's a place where creativity thrives, and there's always something exciting happening. 🌆
And yes, the situation with the koalas is indeed concerning. It's important that we do our part to protect and preserve their natural habitat. 🐨🌿
Fascinating! ❤
I lucky to have friends there which are more family to me than my own here in the UK. One day I'm going there ,seen Melbourne through them showing me on their phones and pics .certainly a place I would live if I could .
The old world structure's are awesome. Beautiful
Oh, thank you, you show exactly my favourite place in my Melbourne .. even Bendigo ...my favourite church..❤
So nice of you, my pleasure!
Hi
Love Bendigo.
Really enjoyed this. Thanks for sharing

Cool footage and insight into your time in Melbourne! That street art tho.. 🤩
Hosier Lane, Presgrave Place, Meyers Place, AC/DC Lane, Duckboard Place...the list goes on!
I really enjoyed this video thanks 😊😊
Will visit Melbourne in a few weeks from now. Thank you for this video
Hope you enjoy it!
Its the worlds most boring city by a distance
Can't wait to get back to Melbourne
Likewise, Taro
Well done! Thanks for the video! I was looking for a video giving insight about the city in a first-person view that's not a promotional video or a plain walk/drive tour and came across your content which is just that.
Thanks Benny! I just put what I thought might be useful to a first-timer like myself. Glad you enjoyed 🙏

Very beautiful country.
I love that city🥰
Just visited Melbourne I loved it. Next time I will drive myself to reach may more places in Victoria
I was thinking the same thing, especially the Great Ocean Road!
I will be move to Melbourne soon
Nice vlog! Great presentation. It was a useful vlog for a prospective traveler like me to Australia. I am a new subscriber to your channel. Greetings from Plano, Texas, United States.
Hello Planooo! Thank you so much, I wish I wouldve made it a longer video with more emphasis on the city but hopefully get another chance to come back and explore in warmer weather. You will absolutely fall in love with Australia when you go! Well worth the flight time
@@leodoeslife_ it is good you made a lucid and brief vlog. If it was long it would have been boring. The length of the vlog was perfect.
@@ganapatihegde1024 great point!
@@leodoeslife_ You did cover it very well. A vlog should not be longer than 10 minutes if you are describing a city otherwise people don’t have patience to watch. I clicked on your vlog since it was short.😊
Hope to see more vlogs on your channel. You really do it well.Keep it up!
A fantastic place to be
Nice explained everything
Thank you kindly!
Damn bro 325k views! Your channel is doing well!
wish I could say the same for my other videos haha but thanks!
Reminds me a bit of Seattle :) w/ art work on the walls, and being by the waterfront, cafes, restaurants.. etc...
Yeah, you're absolutely right! I definitely see some parallels between Melbourne and the Emerald City 🙌
@@leodoeslife_ love your videos, 😃👍have u been to South America?
Aun no, but I'm planning to travel there very soon..✌️
You’re making us look much better than we actually are
I mean I just call it like I see/experience it. I'm sure things have changed a bit since my visit but hopefully for the better
I did my undergraduate studies there. The climate, flora, fauna is one thing, but it is the people that makes up a country. They proved to me why their ancestors were outcast from Britain. The British in those days were justified.
一人做事一人当
In legal systems, you cannot lie about your crime (perjury), you cannot habour a criminal (habouring), you cannot help a criminal to commit a crime (accomplice), you cannot help to hide information-assistance before-after a crime (accessory), ... you cannot stand-in for the offence or crime. You cannot give the excuse that you own a child (slavery, seperate business entity, ignorance of the law is inadmissible as a defence) and therefore have a right (no such right) to murder him-her (still considered similar to other murders).
Those who find excuses along these lines which are internationally accepted are to be classified as stupids-idiots-morons.
When the politicians are illegal, you can report to the police. When the police are illegal, you kill the police. You don't be an idiot and make reports to the illegal-police (contradiction, law spawns police and empowers the police via the people). Don't be a moron and call yourselves police when you are performing criminal-deeds. Example, america had not been voted by every person in the world to be the police of the world (not empowered) but consider themselves to be the police of the world (idiots) and use this as an excuse to commit crimes against humanity (illegal-police is contradiction, retards)
You screw around with people = kamma = people screw with you = you suffer
The more you screw with people = ... = the more you suffer (1:1 direct correlation)
If you cannot see that, you might as well be dead. Darwinian theory of stupidity-kills (fittest survive). If you had been reasonable to yourself, you would had asked yourself about your own suffering of, the harder you try (mental-locked dementedness), the harder you fall. Hypocrisy makes people blind.
The more you attack others = the higher your attrition rates
The heavier the heft-of the attacks (example minimum jail sentence for each type of crime) = the more you suffer and the higher your attrition-rates
Too stupid(conceitedness) to be reasonable.? Works for me. Works against you. Might as well let you learn, the hard way.
As a chinese, i verified your ancestors had the world-map of not-flat-earth.
As a human, i verified you are recalcitrants and pathological-liars (characteristics of the spiritually-destroyed)
As a Buddhist, i know Kamma and how, what, where, when, ...
I verified the information and qualify my statements and justify my insults. You had been judged and ignored until, conditions for Kamma to ripen, ... factors are right for multiplier-effects of speaking at the right time and the right place for maximum blow and results. I mean it.
If there is a another military exercise

Same as your legal-system and judiciary, spawning international terminology - kangeroo-courts
Absolutely right ✅
The Yarra River is like that for good reason. The whole south side of the river used to be alluvial swamp and the plant are no longer there to filter out the silt and nutrients. So the places you like there have emerged from draining all those marshes and billabongs. I think I'd prefer things as they were...
The soil in the Yarra River was contaminated many years ago. Upstream from the City is an area that was the "Rag Trade". Cotton dying in particular where dyes and industrial waste was discharged into the river. So to fx it now requires dredging the bottom. Governments have avoided that.
Further up the Yarra River is pure clear water.
We have a joke that says : The Yarra runs upside down, the bottom is on the top. 🇦🇺
I deliver the stock and replenish the shelves at that gnarly duty free store every day 😂 I haven't travelled a lot so didn't know it was that different from others.
Haha hey alright! Thanks for stocking that storefront 🤙it's probably not the biggest I've seen but it's definitely up there
Australia ,or Melbourne give me the Shivers🥶🥶 & Creep👻

i, Felt like melbourne is changing to a homeless state like New york with Lots of violences and crimes to come ......in the Future :)
Well let's not put that in the universe

I stayed in this city for 5 months and fell for it ❤❤❤❤❤
Cool! Glad it was a memorable experience :)
Wow that burning Koala 🐨 was quite the sight 😳
For real!
The reason why the Yarra River is that colour is because of its got a clay base.. and if you want to see lots of art around the city then you should go to the city of churches, Adelaide, South Australia. I hope you got to see the MCG Museum in Melbourne.
Gotcha! Thanks!
It’s the suburbs that make it - cool city lived there for ten years
Nice
Well, there is visiting Smelbourne and living here. You'd quickly realise how expensive real estate is as well shopping for food and clothing. Most liveable city in the world my ASS!
Would rather live up north. Shopping is still expensive but you save everywhere else.
Very true
The negative comments about Melbourne make me laugh 😂 so many of them but its the truth the city is the pits.
Lol, they’re all paid bots and most of them work for Chinese Communist Party
Ill be there in June wait for me please
As an aussie who has explored the same places as you did... fantastic job... you seemed to learn alot. Will be watching nz next and then may subscribe
Thank you so much, Viv!
I need to stop being mad, Australian isn’t not to chabby. For Alysse in Los Angeles. Did it matter ?
I moved from Melbourne to Dallas, USA and there’s not a day where I miss Melbourne. It’s a beautiful city, there’s nowhere else in the world like it and I’m so excited to come back in 2025❤️🩹
Nothing against Dallas, but yeah I'd take Melbourne over a vast majority of cities in TX. Hope its the same as you remember on your return trip to MEL!
Do you mean where I DONT miss melbourne
@@TheMalteseFury i was half asleep making this comment sorry😭😭but thanks
Melbourne looks amazing and good for living. I got a question though to the people living there; have you guys ever encountered a dangerous spider or a snake?. Not to be rude but that's what I have heard....just trying to know.😅
nope, unless you're in the outback but regular suburbs no
Nah😂
I have a complete opposite view for Melbourne. Systems are messy, kids committing crimes and people doing the most stupid things. I had a terrible family growing up and I hated the city as I consider to be toxic. Planning to leave to Japan in the future.
Good move I hate it too, so many lowlife idiots
Japan *Osaka* , the BEST👍
IKR JAPAN IS THE BESTTTTT
But a few things u see are wrong kids here are much more sensible, at least more then Americans. Kids cant commit crimes its illegal systems are great so idk what i mean...😅😅😅
Kids don't have manners it's the rude way they are raised.
Great vid , query would be you completely missed the horseracing scene in Australia and Melbourne it's massive there and part of their culture one assumes, 🎉The Melbourne Cup is like a 3 day festival ???
Thanks, maybe next time! I saw some of the racing on TV while in Vic and my home state also has a big racing culture so I wasn't too into it. Thank you for the insight tho!
Very interesting, and great video! What a life in Australia! Very creative people, great life style!
Thanks so much!
Love Bendigo
I would and i wish To go there , i hope so
You do know that natural forest fires start by their own accord in Australia and Africa. Something that's been happening for thousands of years to recreate nature. Nothing to do with climate change. Thank you for posting, just been to Melbourne for 5 days, loved it
I would encourage - nay, I would strongly urge - anyone who wants to go to Melbourne to go there. And to stay there.
I want to ask... Is there safe for muslim studied or work? I mean in melbourne... Not racism to muslim? Please answer :)
As culturally diverse as Melbourne is, I would venture to say that racism is at a minimum.
NO! ~ the answer is : NO!!!
Melbourne is getting Racism by the Hours, let alone is a street filled with full of homeless street- Beggars!!!!
as a None muslim- immigrants, i felt PTSD & TRAUMA just thinkin abt the westerns "civilizations" in Australia or Melbourne!

You missed The Great Ocean Road and 12 Apostles.
I know, I couldn't fit it into my short time there. Next time my friend!
Hi,
Victoria, Melbourne people.
Melbourne was once very diverse, now it's China. I miss the old Melbourne from back in the days. Early 2000 till 2017 it was great. Now, all you see is the Chinese. Even shops like Myer are being taken over by the Chinese. Banks and shops are only hiring Chinese salespeople who can barely speak English. It's painful to deal with them when you walk into high-end shops like Myer. I don't understand why Chinese people being from a highly developed country like China is flooding this country. I understand why people from poor, underdeveloped countries move here, but not sure why people from developed nations move here. China is a well-developed, rich nation. Even the Indians left during the pandemic. Now it's mostly just the Chinese.
As a China born Melbournian, the reason I live here is because of China's ridiculous education system and political stuff. Melbourne isn't much compared to most chinese cities I've been to but it's homely.
Yeah even my Taiwanese friend said there are so many or too many Chinese here. Remember lots are students though. There are actually less Chinese tourist here now than pre pandemic 2020.
They also like the architecture of the Melbourne skyline
whats wrong with chinese 😂if they contribute to the economy and pay their taxes
Not really!
Recently i went on a Flight✈ from Singapore to Perth, Australia✈, i SAW ALL are Indians & middle- easterns people ONLY, NOT much Asians(chinese, malaysians, singaporeans). ALL are jus Indians & middle- easterners till my Mom even asked R we in the correct Flight!?? Is this Flight to Dubai O Mumbai instead!??
I'm so happy to call this vibrant city, my home. This is a well-curated video.
That's great! Happy to hear, and thank you :)
What’s the situation like with the bushfires? Me and my partner are thinking of moving there, and seeing the bushfire related videos got me really scared
@@justshowupshow We haven't had any significant bushfires since the last big one in 2019-2020. However, an accident happened up in the northern country region about 90 km from Melbourne, and it's now burning for a couple of days now. We usually get them when we have prolonged dry and windy days, but usually the temp drops down for 10C-20C in minutes when we reach our hottest peaks. You should be fine if you move within the inner suburbs of Melbourne.
Mustn't travel much huh
@@nickolas6060 56 countries/territories. I hope I can visit more before I turn 40 in 13 years. 😉
On your vlog, which was better? melbourne or brisbane?
I don't really have a total favorite but I like the beat and rhythm of Melbourne (along with the art and live music scene) but also enjoy the flexibility Brisbane provides to travel to more coastal cities and towns :D
I just actually got back from Melbourne for the holidays. It is indeed an incredible city.
Sweet!
I think Australia 🇦🇺 is the most welcoming country ever. It is a beautiful country and the English accent from Australia 🇦🇺 is similar to the English accent from the UK 🇬🇧.
I’m lucky I live in Melbourne. Sunbury bit cold
"doo doo brown color". Exactly what I was thinking...
😂 haha as close to PG rating as I can get haha
The brown color of the Yarra River running through Melbourne is due to the tannins produced in the leaves of the eucalyptus trees in the forest of the Great Dividing Range where the river originates that were shown in the video.
Exacto
Please make video like this but with Sydney, I’m curious about its art scene like you put in Melbourne videos but I also curious about its beaches, thanks!
I will try!
Great content, what city in Australia would you recommend someone who is willing to move in to australia
Hi, thank you 🙂 I haven't been to much of Australia yet, just Melbourne and Brisbane at the moment, but I'll make a future video that shows each city in detail and if it's a worthy place to live 👍
I would recommend Sydney is more Metropolitan and less racist🚞
@@massimodanzelmo4607 thanks
Melbourne has so much to offer, it’s a much slower pace than Sydney😊.

I live on the mornington peninsula and it is not a safe area. I have had pool pumps stolen, vandalised fences, vandalised garden and mail theft. It is not a nice place, there are a lot of criminals.
Don’t know if anyone will reply, but I am British and I am moving to Melbourne soon with work, what are the best neighbourhoods to look at moving too? I have a 3 year old also ☺️
idk much but if you want somwthing affordable, you want some place a bit away from the CBD
Northern suburbs dude like Mill park, so peaceful you can hear a penny drop, good family environment, or Thomastown everything is conveniently close like schools, train station, library/leisure centre, shops with Epping Plazza near by, absolute dream i been here like 20 years
