  • 169! That’s the number of towns and cities in Connecticut. We love our local communities, but our town-centric living comes at a price: high taxes, rising taxes, and slashed budgets. Can our state afford to keep its small-town roots or is there a better way of doing business?

This was helpful. I’m looking for a job, and there are two similar jobs that I am looking at. One is in TX, and the other in CT. I think I have made up my mind.

Not RightMeow Yeah, this state has a high overall cost of living and high taxes that are really kind of unsustainable unless your rich and that's why thousands of people are leaving the state each year. I should know because I'm planning to move from the state myself too.

In one word: racism. These 3 school towns would rather stay stuck in an endlessly rising tax loop than to just send their children to school in a district where there's majority #ADOS and other so called people of color. They've been able to purchase their separation and comfort for so long that maybe they believed all the poor and homeless CT natives would just leave or something. Some of these are the very same people who preach sustainability - the nerve! Were any of these town halls held with minorities in mind? I hate the term as much as anyone else the that's always the elephant in the room when it comes to CT, now isn't, at this point? If they think one dime of their precious tax dollars might benefit someone from the ghetto they shut it down. I've asked all these years, what is the purpose for some of the services in these small towns? Nothing happens there to be able to justify a bunch of cops, squad cars, and their overtime, for example. I hate to admit it but the state obviously haven't been successful at stepping in and "incentivizing" regionalism. What Stephanowski is calling "diversity" is nothing more than a large number of small predominantly white towns split around a miniscule number of cities packed with #ADOS, POC, and the non-preferred immigrants. Connecticut, the dead horse has rot, the fat lady has sung, and I dare say that the casket has nearly closed on your Pleasantville fantasy of a "state." What has even come of this?
