Hey Amanda! Thank you so much for watching. So the answer is yes, the flaking should get better eventually, but it can take many months. Make sure you are gently exfoliating the dead skin every morning and also applying lots of moisture both day and night! The area on me that took the longest to stop flaking was the area around my mouth.
So retinoids are only used at night when you would use a makeup primer. Unless you are referring to a regular moisturizer to first prime the skin at night prior to the tretinoin - and in that case the answer is yes :)

Hey Sumaia. Stay away from directly under your eyes for the first couple months - it’s probably too much for them right away. They may acclimate over time simply by putting it near that area - or you could buffer that area with moisturizer first if you are adamant about trying to use the retin-a there.
Hey Aman! If it is too irritating, try to gradually increase how much you use it. For example, try 2x a week for the first month, 3x a week for the second month, 4x a week for the third month...so on and so forth. You can also apply a layer of moisturizer to your skin prior to applying the tretinoin on top of it, or you can mix it in with your moisturizer which is what my derm told me to do. Just make sure you thoroughly mix it :)
Music to my ears, Carlos! I initially started using it for hormonal acne, skin rejuvenation and anti aging. But I never get hormonal acne anymore because of tretinoin :)

Oh, no I didn’t use it in high school. My husband used it in high school. I have, however, been on Accutane (in my late 20’s) which is “isotretinoin”. Accutane is hard on the body but does incredible things for the skin.
Also I am not a derm, but it is my understanding that it is not uncommon to be on an oral antibiotic such as doxy in combination with using tretinoin. I would definitely be careful using acids though - not sure about that part while on doxy and tret.
