The video is titled "Best Plants for topiary" yet it doesn't say where the garden is located or which topiaries are which plant. Very uninformative.

The guy being interviewed mentions boxwood and yew if you only want to trim twice a year. That was a 2 second throwaway comment. Anyone with an ounce of sense realizes that different plants thrive in different zones. It would be nice to have a discussion of which plants are advantageous in which environs. What are their pluses and minuses. There are 50 species of privet. There are over 200 types of boxwoods.
JUST YEW TREES--There are two families of yew tree with hundreds of crosses between them. Yews range from 8 to 135 feet high. Yews are found in Europe, Asia, northwest Africa, North and Central America. The following are species (not crosses) English yew (Taxus brevifolia), Western yew (Taxus brevifolia), Canadian Yew (Taxus canadensis), Japanese Yew (Taxus cuspidata), Chinese Yew(Taxus chinensis), Mexican yew (Taxus globosa), Florida yew (Taxus floridana), West Himalayan yew (Taxus contorta), East Himalayan Yew, Kingston yew, Taiwan Yew, Celebes Yew, Maire's yew, Irish yew, Scaly yew, Scutaceous yew, Phyton yew, Assam catkin yew, Taiwan catkin yew, Pollane's catkin yew, Yunnan catkin yew, New Caledonia Yew (southern yew), Griffith's plum yew, Oliver's plum yew, Chinese Plum Yew, Korean Plum Yew, Gongshan Plum Yew, Gongshan plum yew, Whiteberry yew, Farges nutmeg tree, Chinese nutmeg yew, Japanese torreya, Florida torreya.
Do you suppose all of these species are equally adept at being topiaries? Do some live longer? Are some more succeptible to disease? So maybe a little more specificity and a little more than 2 seconds of discussion is deserved. What are the advantages and disadvantages? Which are better for arches? Animals? 10 ft tall? 5 feet tall? 20 feet tall? Florida? Colorado? England? Morocco? Australia? Southern France? Texas?
This was just an interview among a couple of topiary enthusiasts. The topiaries are pretty but it is uninformative and mislabeled. It should be called, "A Couple of Guys Enjoying Topiaries".

This reminds me of an estate in Portsmouth RI. They never said where they were so they might be?
It was part of the Newport preservation society, they preserve and do tours of mansions like Vanderbilt summer homes.

How lovely! I’m from Australia and unfortunately there aren’t many topiary inspirations here (probably because of the wild weather as well). Anyone knows what is plant called for these large animal shaped topiary? Thanks.
