Quite a few games do that actually. The NPCs turn around if they notice your presence and tell you to quit snooping or not to try any funny business, etc etc.
It’s harder to find a game with pickpocketing that DOESN’T do this than one that does.

Took me forever to notice this, but in Skyrim you actually can pickpocket NPCS while they have vision of you. You just have a reduced chance to successfully pickpocket undetected.

The real target was the one who pointed it out. There’s a second thieving adventurer picking his pockets while they are distracted with the one they can see

The thing we, as viewers, don't know is that the guy in the white shirt picked up a note that starts a grand sidequest, and goddamnit is it a good quest.

If you have a high enough stealth skill in a game like Skyrim though you can rob people blind while they're staring into your soul

I don't remember what game it was but there was a game where if you were crouched and NPCs saw you crouched theyd look at you and say "What are you doing?" This also alerted enemies to come and investigate
