Yes Mike !! I would like you do a septic tank!! I would like that!! My grandfather built one on their property back in 1960s!! I was very young!! I do remember being alittle afraid of falling into it!! Thanks for sharing!! ❤ Mamma Carolyn
You and David should make a new mail box post out of the cedar trees, make it so you can put 2 boxes on it. That one is going to fall over as soon as you get more rain.
Maybe 💜
If you use wood, burn it, brush off the char, seal it with deck sealer then concrete it in with concrete above ground level so it's not wet all the time.
Termites look like big ants...haha
Mail carrier has to be able to pull up to the box at vehicle window level...post office has requirements.
I've seen some cheap septic systems made with 3 blue barrels. But if your in a swamp your gonna have hell getting the sewage to perk down and not rise to the surface.
USPS has regulations regarding post height, most likely available in an online search. Looks like it won’t be long before you will need a new mailbox and post. Maybe see if Lowe’s or Home Depot have the preformed concrete base with all the rain there it might last longer than a wooden post. Good luck. Hopefully your fix will get you a few more months out of the old one.
hi
about the diy septic tank then i would say "It's better to have something you might need one day but don't need yet than to need something that you don't have" because you maybe need one down the road and becasue you dont need it right away then it can become a long time project that you can tinker whit time to time.
that is my thought
Made me think of my son when you said that about the seatbelt. My son got in his car and went from his parking lot across a small road to the laundry mat parking lot and got a ticket for no seat belt on, never even drove down a road. Poor kid always wears his seat belt, I felt bad for him. 😆
Hey brother. You did more than we did. Mine is help up with rocks stacked around it….😂😂 good work👊👊👊
❤ Definitely not a busy road when you can park in the middle of it to check off 1 mailbox repair for you're Honey do list.
Quick fast and in a hurry.
I like it and I know you will replace it with a new 4X4 and possibly a bigger mailbox lol.
Enjoyed the show.
We are miles away from the paved rd
Good job
Good temporary fix Mike! A big fat sexy new mailbox is not as big of priority as the other projects you got coming! Keep it moving forward! Peace my friend!
Ty!
Was thinking the same thing
Spray painting your box will save it from rusting out and look fresh and clean
Cool
Mike when I was watching Mamma Vs channel some time ago!! She was digging with a machine that did everything instead of actually digging by hand !! You could maybe borrow that machine and where it's puddling up alot you could dig a trench put a PVC pipe in there so that water will drain off!! Just a thought for fixing up those big puddles!! ❤ Sending blessings!! Your doing great at the landing!! ❤ Mamma Carolyn
Mike I saw a guy take an IBC tote Cut off the top put Put wire mesh covered tubing inside On top of that Peat moss and dirt To catch the poop The fluid drained out Along pipe away from Along pipe away from his camper On top of the dirt he put earthworms And they ate everything up What was left He could take out once a year And it was composted. That was just an idea for you For the septic
Post office has height regulations.
38-42" bottom of the box even with the bottom of your vehicle window.
Have y’all thought about getting a wood chipper and chipping all that extra brush you have laying around with limbs and leaves and adding it to the landscape and then throw rock on top just a thought I live in Oregon. We have a lot of rain. I also live in Town with a lot of concrete, best wishes love your videos all the best to the Drifting Dreamers❤
Good job!😊
Mike looking forward to the May review by Lyssa!! Hope the weather gets better!! Love you guys!! Sending blessings! ❤ Mamma Carolyn
Looks like you’ve been getting lots of rain 🌧 I love 💕 the Butterflies 🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋
Yes, thank you
There are height requirements for mailboxes. You might want to put it on a cedar post so it is tall as the other mailbox. Reason for the height requirement is so postal worker can reach from his truck
Lissa, if you dig down a couple inches and “plant” the fern pot, maybe it won’t get knocked down. 😀😀
Nice job Mike nice to have you back on the Landing❤🇨🇦
Catching up on the videos , i hope it stands there for a long time
Yes it would be very cool with the DIY 😊
Hello Mike 👋 Good job on repairing mailbox 👌
About 15 years ago, I fabricated and welded a mall box poast out of 3x 3x 14 inch steel. She is still standing, going to have the grandson paint it .
I think there is a height requirement for mail boxes. They weren't supposed to be Keebler Elf dwellings.
You are correct.. there is a height requirement so the box can be opened from the seated position of the mail car/truck.. if not , you will get a notice to rectify or mail won’t be delivered.. my dad was a mail carrier for 40 years.. they don’t have time to have mailbox issues.. it’s the homeowners responsibility maintaining the boxes to regulation..
he purple thistle you have in your pics is actually Milk thistle. it is an herb and is good going to send you a email that tells you what uses it has.
Nice. Ty
I THINK YOU SHOULD DO A TEMPORARY SEPTIC SYS
I would be interested in watching and learning about a DYI septic 😂 even if it’s 💩
Lmfao 😁 😎 😂
@@driftingdreamers5 I do have some jokes 😂 but I’m never against learning some useful information
Thank you for sharing. Keep on dreaming✌️🇺🇸❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
That was some pretty rusty water, don't let it rust inside 😮
You can spray paint your mailbox too .I have to paint ours every 6 years or so
Hi Mike, good to see you back and thankful you had a safe trip. Looked like a great time. Yes it has been raining a lot. Unusual for this time of year. You got the mail box fixed temporarily. Have a great day and God Bless DD5 ❤
Good morning Mike lyssa an family 👍
Good idea about the septic system
You can make a septic
You should have a new mailbox post. All mailboxes have to be a certain height and I don't think that is right. It needs to be the same height as that other one.
Hi from Germany
I do wonder at why the post and mailbox are so old when David built the first homestead on the hill. Or was the address already established decades before he bought it? I built my own hand made septic 44 years ago when I bought my 10 acres here in NE Ohio. Rented a backhoe, ran the pipe from building to pit the dug pit, built a 4x4 block box, ran pipe to a series of blue plastic drums that I cut 2" holes everywhere. It's worked fantastic for all these decades and never has even been pumped. I've always wondered why ya'all haven't done the same. David's backhoe should make quick work of a trench, pit and trench. Just keep to a 1/4"/foot and it should do great for you as well. Old Betsy will work just fine until David decides what he wants to do. If you built yours to connect with his that would be awesome. I had to go BEG for an address for my place when we started as all we built was a barn for the horses on the property.
There was a cabin there already
@@driftingdreamers5 Ah...so the prior owner didn't just build a hunting cabin, but a place to live...I'm surprised he got a mailbox. I've been at my 10 acre barn property 44 years and the PO won't give me a mail box delivery...
That flowing water at the creek sounds so peaceful.
Good morning, Mike. How are you doing today?I hope everything is looking good out there.Good job on the ma box.Have a good day and keep up the good work
You can eliminate the seat belt chime by hooking the seat belt behind your back. It amazes me how you deem a car port more important that finishing the house you have started so you can get out of the RV. DELAY the carport and get the house finished. I can't believe that you tried to drill a post hole in the same spot the old post rotted out at. I guess you finally woke up and moved over to a new spot.. AND, where is the not post? That old post will wind up rotting and will also be much lower than it was originally.
Great job 👍❤
It's doaible to make a septic system from a tote. I have seen a video of someone doing it
Do a septic system according to code. Tank and field lines done to code, then you can hook up the house to it also. Once and done for both.
turn all them trees into mulch put where needed, just a thought
Looks good, Mike.
They also have breakaway regulations but people still brick them up.
Good work! Hate the HONEY WAGON!
Thanks brother!
Mike great job on mailbox repair new post do a complete job sand and paint mail box or better job buy a larger mailbox add peel AnD stick numbers
The USPS official mailbox regulations state that the mailbox should be positioned at a height between 41″ - 45″ Mailbox Height. When measuring, take note that this height measurement is from the road surface, not where your post is placed. Public records have all the info anyone needs if they were actually looking for you, which is highly doubtful!
Are you kidding me, I figured you put something that looked better than that old one back up.
Quick fix for now
Mail boxes have to be 41-45 inches from surface. Without cutting another post isn't that one too short?
Ok
I feel so bad for you in your chosen spot for building your homes. Looks like you’re in a virtual bog. 8:59 From the outer road DOWN to the home it’s virtually all down hill to where it all sits in front of the shous and trailer. You need so much more elevation to get out of that hole you’re in.
The Post Office has a certain requirements for height for a post. Might just get a new post and a bigger Mail Box . Check with your post office for requirements!! I'm pretty sure it's too low.. but, they will tell you for sure if it's at the required height.
Thanks for the info
Think of using it as a septic. Think that's a great idea. I wish you could find someone to drill a well for you. I know it's hard to save with a family. But like your Uncle David says a little bit at a time. Water and rock will be needed.
You will probably get a notice from your mail carrier to replace the post and set your mailbox at regulation height. I used to be a rural carrier and it is difficult to deliver to boxes of varying height. For right now it’s a good temporary fix.
Maybe.
We will see
also the mailbox must be 41 to 45 inches from road surface regs
I am a 35 year retired employee of the USPS. My position was a Safety Spec. I inspected rural mailboxs amongst other things. If I inspected yours it would fail sorry. The box itself is not properly secured to the wooden base in addition to a rusty outer shell. If the current Safety Spec ever saw this he would issue you a letter to replace or repair it. if you fail to do so they would issue orders to stop deliveries due to safety concerns. sorry to tell you this only trying to help you
You might have a diesel 4 wd truck soon
Now that would be amazing
You should paint your mailbox or buy a new one, they are dirt cheap.
The vine near your potted plants looks like Greenbrier, aka Similax. Green shoots are eddible.
Mike, that was a toad not a frog lol
I dont ware my seat belt when Im flying down the highway either! 😂
Lol 😆 🤣
So glad you brought STS back. I really missed hearing you say it Mike. 😊
More to come!
Hi Mike n Lyssa
👍👍👍
What about an incinerator toilet?
Yes, that's what we will be using for the main home
If it's just black water, and drain it will work
Out of Totes just make sure you fill the totes with water before you cover it with dirt or it will collapse.
Welcome back from your vacation. Just wanted to tell you that another parcel on its way to you.
Ty so very much 💓 💗
🇳🇴👍
Why wouldn’t you put cement around your mailbox post.
Bc I didn't have any
Whats with the purple rags dotted around the mail box
It's a local no hunting/no trespassing thing
I can help with your DIY Septic
Email me please
@driftingdreamers5 how do you send a email can't remember how
Road looks good? Where
You obviously never seen it before looked this good
Mike, just a suggestion, you shouldn’t be showing your license plate, at lease make it blurry.
It's public knowledge. I'm not worried about it
Mailboxes here are supposed to be 4 ft.😊
Why did you go back to "shooting the sheets"? Just wondering?
Well, we haven't posted in like 5 days on DD5. Lyssa was still editing the next video... and it needed to be done. PRESTO... SHOOTIN THE SHEET!!!! 🤩
@@driftingdreamers5 ooh ok, makes sense. 💚💚
Just checked subscribed and it was deleted. Good job on the mail box.
Ty 💚 😊
Howdy Howdy
I thought Tim from Ridge Life said he accidentally had a mishap during his stay @ CMon Mt & your group outing. I could be wrong but I know I made a comment on his video about it. If not that then I don't know what mishap he referred to. Until you mentioned it in this video you still didn't know, I figured it was all settled.
We still don't know.
It wasn't Tim
May be to low😮😊
Can it be too low?
@@driftingdreamers5 as long as it is level with their trucks you're good.
Good 👍 Job Mailbox 📫
If below their window they can't put mail in..
Glad you fixed the mailbox but it's not looking pretty. Lyssa use your crafting to paint it. Maybe put some flowers in the bed around the tree. I think you should do a DIY septic. You might be in the RV for a while and it would be one less job to worry about. I was surprised the boys went to Florida this summer. Would have been nice to see them learn and work along side you building the shouse. Have a good week.
They went to Florida last summer as well.
It's a thing
That truck needs a wash, joke
So not on highway yet
Yikes! thanks for the heads up; yeah, I was unsubed somehow!
Okay, now I’m confused. Is this a Dreaming with Drifters or Shooting the Sheet? I thought you had stopped the Shooting the Sheet videos. Sorry, did I miss something?
I'm pretty sure I said in this video... Welcome back to shooting the sheet.
Maybe I said dreaming with drifters... You should go back and check it out
Just a little rot
I thinking it someone live around you it done it you not think so mm keep your see out it tell you who it was

Worried about letting us see the address on the mail box? Masking tape and paper or cardboard on the address as a preparation would be a wise thing to do before you make the video.😊
Milk thistle is good f9r your liver
