  • Georgia is a country situated between Europe and Asia with rich history, known also for its quality liquor and wine. These were not the main reasons which lead us here. It was all about the Caucasus, majestic mountain range on the border with Russia which is poorly inhabited and where you can still find true wilderness. As there are many trails used by horses in these mountains, you can also find great opportunities for mountain biking here. This short documentary displays a bikepacking trip of four friends across part of the Great Caucasus. The Caucasus tested our strength and physical condition, but on the other hand it showed us beautiful nature and people willing to help. In combination with biking on exceptional but out-of-the-way trails, we have great memories to remember...

    Hey
    Absolutely love the video! What a trip and amazing singletrack. It must have been incredible.
    I’m looking into doing a very similar ride in Georgia.
    How much singletrack was there? What percentage of the whole ride was singletrack more or less? If you could let me know that would be amazing!
    Thanks again for the inspiration. 🙂

      Hey Alex, I am glad you liked the video.
      We rode basically over 4 passes, 2 were beautiful mountain unpaved roads and 2 were over 3000 metres high and just singletracks with some hike-a-bike uphill sections but amazing downhills in Caucasus landscape. So I would say we were half of the time on singletracks. Basically if you watched The Trail to Kazbegi by Joey Schusler, we were trying the same road, but successfully as there was no snow on Atsunta Pass and opposite direction which seemed more bike-able for us... There were some other possibilities we wanted to try, but didn't have time, e.g. during free day next to Omalo there was a nice rigde I wanted to try, but we were dealing with some technical issues and needed some rest too :)
      If you need any more help, don't hesitate to ask or drop me an e-mail.
      Cheers, Jaro

    Am curious why you all are carrying the luggage in backpacks instead of some rack system? It’s pretty heavy uphill, no?
    Love that you are using regular bikes mtbs and nothing exotic and expensive. Shows us that the effort matters more than equipment. Keep it up !

    • @JTadventures
      @JTadventures  Před 9 měsíci

      we had both backpacks and bikepacking bags. I mean I know there are still options to have more luggage on bike, but I personally prefer to have big and light things on bike like sleeping bag, tent, jacket, and the rest in my backpack. the bike is then more manageable and I can enjoy the downhills on trails more, especially on full suspension mtb :) but I mean that’s just my perspective, I know some people prefer to avoid backpack on bike, for me it is not a problem…

    Awesome! I am planning to make a same trip, I want to ask you in which month you went and is there any problem with checkpoints border passports if I go deeply into the border? Thank you

    • @JTadventures
      @JTadventures  Před 7 měsíci +1

      Good for you :) We were there at the end of August. We didnt’t have any problems with these checkpoints passport controls. As far as I remember we got the permission after Juta and returned it in Girevi few days later. There were some checkpoints inbetween, but I don’t think anybody stopped us. Easier to know some Russian or have translator app ready :)

      @abdelali789 Před 7 měsíci

      @@JTadventures Thank you so much for your response, please what permission you mean? If I want to climb mountains there and go to this point, should I have a permission or I can go freely, and for checkpoint controls did someone of them check your passport or not? Thanks I appreciate your help 🙏

    • @JTadventures
      @JTadventures  Před 7 měsíci +1

      @@abdelali789 basically just for moving in this area you obtain the permission on the first checkpoint, you just need valid passport and tell them the plan or days you need it and they give it to you. and you need to have it until you are leaving this area, that’s all.
