- We Just Bought One Of The Rarest WW2 Tanks In The WORLD!
Hi everyone! We are finally back! Sorry we have been away for the last 5 months but with the state of the world we have been extremely busy. But we are back and have some great new videos on the way.
We have just received our newest vehicle the Sherman Jumbo (1 of only 8 left in the world!) We are really excited to start this project and estimate it will take us about 18 months to complete. We will be releasing videos as we get on with the project so please do subscribe to keep up to date!
Thank you and please check out our website at www.armourgeddon.co.uk - Zábava
This is just a Sherman that stayed in the chow hall for a few extra weeks.
“How many times did you go through that chow line, private?!”
“Twice sir.”
“What?! You got a lotta fat between your ears and now your trying to match up further down?!”
Eh more like, they wanted to piss off every German big cat ever
Germany: *laughs in big tanks*
America: *laughs in chow hall the size of 2 football stadiums*
eyyy 200th like! (nobody cares)
Idk man, the jumbo has better front upper glacis armor as well as on the mantlet
I had the pleasure of seeing a Jumbo once. Amazing piece of machinery, and I felt so bad for it's transmission.
He he yeh, there was even a jumbo with concrete armor as well
@@SlowpokeSpartan I've seen pictures of the 'In-the-field Jumbos'. It's interested.
@@SlowpokeSpartan yep. The M4A3E8 "Jumbo Easy Eight" is the one most renowned for the concrete armor being used successfully. The Concrete Armor was mainly a infield add on for Urban conflicts.
@@legogaming6585 That tank went from the normal Easy 8, M4A3E8, to the M4A3E2 (76 W), in urban conflict right?
@@kommandantkillcode I believe it did. If I remember correctly, and I could be mistaken, the Easy 8 went from an early model M4A3E8 with the 75mm gun, and standard M4 drive train, to the updated 500hp Ford engine and 76mm gun, while still boasting its concrete armor.
I believe there is one of these at the military museum at Camp Ripley, Little Falls, Minnesota.
There is, but its an even rarer variant (the model with the 76mm gun) of which only a couple are left (samur france, camp ripley , and the collins institute)
@@Ssgtremy Indeed it is. Was a great sight to see a few years back in HS, as they had it in the shops on post to respray her coats of paint.
@@Ssgtremy been wanting to see these variants lol, afaik these weren't even 'official' variants rather a field modification
Hi everyone we are finally back! Just a quick note i thought i would mention, but the damage on the Jumbo is range damage not battle damage. Because the damage was made with modern weapons we have decided to fill them in and restore it to its former glory. We feel this will be more true to the vehicles WW2 history. Thank you for understanding.
When was it used for target practice? If you know
It’s your tank, you restore it as you feel! Anyone else can go buy one of their own.
Isn't the Nashorn rarer with only 3 tanks surviving in the whole world with 1 surviving a fire and is currently in running order.
@@larshaas2658 "One of."
No one notices how this comment was made 7 months before the release? Meaning it was uploaded 7 months before releasing the video 🤔
It's fascinating to watch experts rebuilding vintage tanks!!
The only 76 mm JUMBO now lives in Washington DC. Cobra King was concerted to 76mm in 1944/45 and lost in the Hamelton raid on a German POW camp. Cobra King had the gun replaced during a cosmetic restoration prior to being sent Washington DC, to the WW2 museum. They were making it look as it did in 1944 when tanks broke into Bastogne. It had"First in Bastogne" written in chaulk on the side facing the camera.
I would love to see a Churchill Gun Carrier restored only 62 of them were built and i think there is a surviving one somewhere
I’ve seen a wrecked one at the bovington tank museum and it’s a lot smaller than I thought it would be
that is the one i remember seeing
@@CaptSlow127 I wish they’d restore it
I’m very happy you’re keeping all these marvels of history intact and resorted and keeping them safe. Very good!
great to see this, i am guessing your guys in canada is the backyard tank show as i just watched their videos do these repairs on a jumbo tank
Was just going to point that out, glad to see someone else already did.
What a great acquisition. I can't wait to see it in the museum. I photographed the one at Bastogne Barracks previously.
I wouldnt fix the bullet holes and the battlescar damage on the top part of the tank because you are wiping out its history but repair the damage that is really necessary to get it in running order ,remember there only original once and never take away its history , its always more valuable to keep the battlescars in some places so the tank has a story to tell and that should be respected and shouldnt be erased from its history
Hi it's not battle damage but firing range damage. If it was battle damage we would have left it. We have found some previous repairs in the turret that were obviously done before it went o to the range so we believe these must have been damage inflicted during combat.
Oh you found my old BB-gun target. Neat!
What a fantastic find. Looking forward to watching her restoration.
If i ever become extremely wealthy... I will be making so many donations to you guys, and a bunch more armor rebiulders...
Haha thanks so much!
Damn sure looked like a range target...used'ta have M47s on the ranges at Grafenwohr in the early 70s...(8 Nov 71 - 18 Jul 74)...Iron Horsemen!!!
The m47 are still there
Wow that is one serious project! Good luck and I can't wait to follow its progress!!!
Thanks!
I would love to see videos of you guys driving the tanks and showing how the tracks wear down over time or what vehicle maintenance is like
I’m like oh it’s probably just a cool restoration and then I see a whole entire museum behind him
Just had this come up after watching the vid of the dealer preparing it for sale.
Glad it went to you guys, love the work on the Lee you did
So glad the interest and the skills required to bring these bits of history alive again are still around!.
Hope you guys can get her back together again cool tank.
Fantastic too see you restoring this tank!
Glad you like it!
The rarest tank goes to a German A7V tank named mephisto, it is the only surviving A7V from ww1, and is completely original. It is currently displayed in Brisbane Australia at the Queensland Museum. An M4A3E2 is a great find, good luck with the restoration
@THE FRENCH BAGUETTE
There are plenty of tigers in museums in the world,
Just because a tiger can run under its own power doesn’t make it the rarest.
@THE FRENCH BAGUETTE
Again.
There are plenty of tigers in museums in the world, with nearly all the major powers of the war having one in a museum.
Just because a single tiger can run under its own power doesn’t make tiger 1s the rarest tank out there.
Fantastic addition chaps! Can't wait to see the progress on this one :)
THANK YOU SO MUCH for keeping these tanks alive! They are historic!
Good luck restoring her!!
Great job, looking forward to seeing this project come together! I built a running 60% scale model of a Jumbo, so it’s fun to learn more about the real thing.
The family car
Good job Stuart. Will watch out for the next video.
Hi guys, good luck with the restoration, all it will need is a bit of welding and it will be ready for the road, keep safe and well.
I watched all the Back Yard tank restoration vids on this tank this morning lol watching that guy pre heat then weld in that side armoured piece was amazing. Looking forward to seeing this old girl get lovingly restored
Brilliant video thank you for sharing
Very cool look at the Jumbo!
i don't have any envy of the one who is ging to grind all the fixes on the sides xD
I like seeing the damaged parts because it make war more real.
Thats one MASSIVE Job ! wow
I do think you guys should try and rescue the ram on the Moor near the winking man at Ashbourne.
Hi! Do you have a link to it at all or where it’s is? Thanks!
@@ArmourgeddonTanks It's on an abandoned MOD range just south of the winking man on the A53 just off Blackmere road. It was a range target though.

Best I can do.
Awesome. Can't wait to see the end result. I wonder if they'll find any gold bars hidden in this beauty.😄😄
Thank god there are other tank collectors buying up old range tanks that you can source parts from. It’s not like you can just order parts from a WWII tank supply depot.
Yes haha! The industry is small but strong!
Little bit of bondo and old girl would be looking like a new Jumbo in no time ;)
Haha if only it was that easy!
Fabulous channel - subscribed, Liked and Notified!
The guy refers to a Sherman Jumbo as an extremely rare tank while standing in front of an even rarer tank, the M3 Lee (named for Lighthorse Harry Lee)
I think it was after General Robert E Lee because the British turreted version was called General Grant. They were British names anyway since I think the US Army only called them M3, M4, etc.
Hi they are both quite rare but there are only 8 jumbos and quite a few more m3s.
I know that I'm writing this two years later but I'm curious what caliber might be making such damage both to the hull and turret? Anyway it will be a hell of a job to get in shape the poor Jumbo! I will follow you with pleasure this restoration!
I saw this tank come through the port of savannah that august. it was an in immense pleasure to see
Some work to do as you will be quite busy for a while on this very rare tank! How it will take to put it back on the road? Looking forward to see further developments on this tank! 👍👍👍👍
Wow, that's a real ass jumbo
From the size and shape of the holes....APDS from 20 pounders or 105mm L7s is my guess. Definitely Sub Calibre ammunition as well as some HEAT as you pointed out. HEAT is not something I would expect to see from a Range Target in Britain as the Army haven't really used HEAT...Maybe a US Tank was at the range at some point? :)
It might just be me but I really think that it's way more valuable with all the whole still in it. Sure spray painted so it doesn't rust, but I think that the holes piercing through the armor is way more visually appealing to the masses then just looking at a pristine uped armored Sherman. The holes are character. I know if I have paid to go through a museum I'd love to see holes in a tank rather than just seeing a brand new sheet of steel painted in there covering up the interesting holes.
that's range damage not combat damage if it was combat damage they would have kept the damage
Good to see you back! - where would this have been for target practice? Good Luck with the restoration. I will be following.
Hi it was in the US
@@stuartgarner5072 Thanks.
Spent some time on the range I see. Good luck restoring it
I would put a 76 fire fly cannon on it
Thank goodness your putting her back into actual combat condition.....the only way to restore her
THICC Sherman
This is why i want to start a business to make 1:1 replicas if WW2 tanks as they where during production
There are definitely markets for Replica German Tanks and some rare American Tanks.
@@REDARROW_A_Personal i know, the issue is... can i make a profit on it to make it viable i do not have the funs to just take requests out my own pocket
Glad to see it I I didn't know about them
Pretty dope.
I shall be watching this with interest. Maybe invite Nicholas Morran (The Cheiftain) to take a look when you are part way through?
Lovely
Looks like you have am OSF Hull and Union Steel turret there with the casing markings inside the lip of the Hull and missing off the front top plate of the turret as OSF turrets had a cast number and an SER plus number built on the right! The bottoms of the turrets are the only difference down past the weld beads to turret rings what makes them a nightmare for building accurate models of for armour shows haha!
VERY NICE TOO SEE SOMEONE CARES ENOUGH DO I SEE A 43 30 DO A STORY ON THAT THANKS 😊 .
yooo its the jumbo aka big boi ssherman yooooo sssshhhhheeeeesssshhhhhhhh
Camp Ripley has one of these in Little Falls MN
You to repair those holes with thermite welding they will train tracks together look it up on CZcams it may be the best way to repair your damaged
Great video Stuart Kevin Kph transport
Amazing find ! @2:19 won't be able to see it ....Just like Ernie Wise's Wig 🤣🤣
Sherman Jumbo in fact was very armored and had the chance of killing a King Tiger (Tiger 2 (H))
I would LOVE to see you guys fix up a maus
Me waiting patienly for him to tell the name of the tank:mmm yes I N T E R S T I N G
@4:39 License =BIG Bang
Imma need to play the cobra king in war thunder after this.
an A7V would be cool >.>
Well I know someone who fixed one completely well just missing the gun part but other than that he fixed the whole entire thing up
There's one at the american heritage museum in Massachusetts, US
Any tank: *shoots jumbo*
Jumbo: haha shells go ping
I am bloody sure that jumbo is from the lads at the backyard tank show ..I watched those blokes replace the turret roof on would you believe a jumbo turret and they said this tank was going to a museum. Hmmmm 😁..this is gonna be something special for sure.
Love the jumbo. Biggus thiccus and eating german 88s long and short. Turret has as much as 500mm effective armor at some places, enough to eat a modern 105 apfsds shell.
Hull armor is up to 100mm front with 60mm sides and the turret is 152mm all round. You can barely kill it with bombs. The lower hull is 38.6mm with extra plates 10-20mm thickness.
Tigers dont even like facing these things. Panthers cant do much and you have to be very good or Godly lucky to kill this. The M3 75 cannon and later M1A1 76 are amazing on it. King tigers? Uhhhh. Yeah nobody wants to face those.
And the added benifits of being a sherman means you can put any other turret or gun on the chassiss.
Do you sell on the parts you can not use as relics? I would love some of these for my collection
Looks like a bit of drywall spackle, some primer and paint and should be good as new? Might need new tires? Er tracks?
When you replace bits of armor with new plates, do you run into any issues with dissimilar metal corrosion?
spookston better take a look at this
All of the War Thunder Tiger players are scared of you now.
I know this is a rare tank and of course you would like to restore it perfectly, but I think damaged tanks have a charm that's hard to beat.
Its range damage tho not combat footage
Need help making my drivable Goliath tracked mine
Over excitable initial presenter and naff music was just about to switch off, but then everything changed and morphed into a good presentation. I will come back to watch the rest of this saga.
I had no idea that Jumbos were that rare.
thats going to be a project and a half
I instantly knew what tank this is from the thumbnail its very obvious when you know tanks
Wow a M4A3E2
Bro I think the jumbo looks cooler with the damage
The Orange bogie has done some Logging
I knew what it was just by seeing the thumbnail image
Theses are fun in war thunder
As a Canadian I'm curious, where are the replacement part coming from, museums or private collectors?
Private collectors mainly.
One jumbo is in a museum in New Jersey by my house
Do it right!
We have one at Bastogne
Can you not fire live rounds because of deterioration of the gun?
Wonder how Kevlar reinforced concrete would compare with this traditional weld steel armor from the early and mid 1940s.
Was she in combat? Can you see or research to see if she did fight ? Good luck.
Hi all but 4 jumbos saw combat so yes this one definitely was and we have since found repaired damage to the turret
@@stuartgarner5072 Thanks, and Cool.
That orange bogey, did you get that from a logging company in Canada who used a Sherman as a cable puller?
I saw a M4 sherman outside a school.
