  • This is the biggest cash game pot ever recorded in poker history. Wesley runs an epic bluff against the legendary Tom Dwan, who has a pocket pair. However, there is a bizarre twist in this hand: Wesley accidentally exposed his cards to Doug Polk, who now knows exactly what he has, and must keep a stoic poker face. You should bring Tom on the podcast once you get back to discuss his thought process but also to hash out past beefs. He seems like that's water under the bridge for him but it would be an amazing poker podcast to have him on and get his perspective on everything that's been said about him over the years. A true journalist or even a man with integrity would want to hear from both sides and at the table Tom brought up a good point that you never reached out. Let's go!

Having ruled out Aces and Kings the only hand Tom was worried about was _8 which was very unlikely cause Wesley 5-bet it on flop.

    If you had looked down at pocket tens after he did that and you had called, would they have made Wesley show his cards to everyone so that it was fair to anyone else in the hand? Or would they have just had a miss deal?

    • @delg1211
      @delg1211 Před rokem +3

      Neither. It was Not a misdeal, the casino takes No action in your scenario. It would play out the same as this clip.
      Wesley did not show his cards to Doug until *After* Doug folded. The fact that Doug saw Wesley's cards Before Doug folded was simply poor card protection on Wesley's part- which happens often with players. The biggest difference here was that Doug called it out, many don't say anything- especially during the hand. Unless the Casino has evidence of collusion or other cheating, the hand plays out as usual.

      @@delg1211 If Doug calls and Wesley later folds, a good dealer will then expose Wesley's hand so that all remaining players have the same info.
      I'm one of those who wouldn't say anything. Profotable poker is about capitalizing on the mistakes of others. I wouldn't ever intentionally spy on a player's hand, but if they're flashing cards then that's no different to me than if they have an obvious tell. Funnily enough, this happened to me in a live game once. The player was sitting across from me. He raised pre-flop and I called with QJs. The flop came 39K rainbow. As the flop was being dealt, he was shuffling his cards angled towards me and I saw that he had 88. He led out, so I called. Turn was an A and he led out again. This time I raised a decent amount knowing that he couldn't possibly call with 4th pair...except he did call! That's when I realized he had 99 and flopped middle set. He was setting the trap on the river (probably putting me on an A, possibly 2 pair). He went for the check-raise on the river. The bad thing for him was that I realized my mistake and wasn't about to try to bluff a set. The worse thing for him is that I binked the gutshot T, and since there's no way he could ever put me on QJ here, he gladly check-raised his flopped set all-in to my river straight. He was livid and couldn't understand how I could play a hand so poorly ;)

      @@delg1211 well that’s the my point. Since he said it out loud, if he had called or raised after saying that, if I’m at the table and in the hand I would ask for the table to see his hand! I would have asked for a ruling. And I’m pretty sure they would rule that he would have to show his hand to whole table if Doug stayed in the hand.

      I didn’t really have much of an opinion on airball before the stream, but after watching it he seems like a genuine, if not occasionally obnoxious, guy. I know people enjoy hating him, but he won me over throughout the stream. He also seems to really care for his friends at the table.
