    Just fyi to to the XJ'ers, 62mm TB's come literally stock for a grand cherokee, YJ and JK and cheap as dirt off of Ebay. It was in the later half of the 4.0 that it finally got upgraded.

    If you did a aftermarket intake, and a header, that bigger TB would make a noticable difference in power.

      just whit a trotter body specer n 62 mm trotter body from bbk n i cut the post cat i can feel the difference

    It's about 4 or 5 horsepower. I bored mine out on a Bridgeport mill and made a new throttle plate on a lathe.

      The throttle plate is actually oval a bit. The plate sits in there on an angle, so I mounted it a mandrel at 5° when I machined it.

      The upgrade improves throttle response mostly. Nothing else needs to be changed.

      I never took it on the dyno. But from what i hear it doesn't gain any power really just throttle response

      The intake hole is already bigger than the throttle body.

      Should be able to. A spacer isn't doing anything though.

      Offroad Maniac I think they only make them for the 4.0 but I'm sure there are other companies out there that make it for the v8.

    I have a vacuum leak , won’t pass smog in CA. I smoked the motor and found smoke coming from the Butterfly shaft of the TB . My Question is.. should the TB have “No “ smoke coming from anywhere? …

      Correct, those shafts could wear out and cause vacuum leaks and possible high idle issues. I would recommend replacing it.

      Have had any luck with the after market 62mm BBK ?
      RockAuto sent me a remanufactured one that the smoke test proved to be worse the my original TB.

      I haven't ran any aftermarket throttle body other than the original bored out.

    What's the point I got a stock Throttle body with a Spacer and cold air intake . Aint that the same results in the end gonna still take same air to fule ratio unless you program the Pcm otherwise 🤔

      It will be the same air/fuel ratio but with a bored out throttle body, it will increases your throttle response because more air can pass through faster with a larger hole. As for a throttle spacer they don't really do anything to increase performance unfortunately.

    I am looking into the four hole injectors. I heard the CPU has to be retuned? Could you explain benefits of a more holes please.

      You're engine burns the vapor from the holes so with one hole its more a "stream" of fuel while the 4 hole injections distribute the fuel more efficiently

      It also allows for better fuel burning and fuel economy. Not much but slightly from what I've seen

    Would this make a difference in throttle response for basically an all stock grand cherokee. Stock size wheels 2001. Sorry if this seems like a silly question. I just notice you have replied that this throttle response made yours "feel more like stock" since the bigger tires made it sluggish. Any feedback is appreciated. Thank you

      Pros - better throttle response and gives a little more pep while accelerating. Cons - no real hp gain but a better driving experience.

      Cole Webb Yeah I should have done that because the jeep is actually throwing a code for low voltage from the tps.

      OutJeeping thank for you'r reply sorry it took me a while to get back to you i was working on a friend's car the tps sounds like time to replace it i just think checking seancers when you have something apart it's good time to know what is what and easier in stead of finding out later for you'r jeep less trouble on the street and off road plus for it to run good and get the best m.p.g. have a very good night C😎😎L

      All factory sensors should work with no hiccups, that's how I'm running mine.

      I would double check your cable routing and make sure nothing is getting bound or snagged up on anything.

    Did you bore the intake manifold too? I thought the intake had a smaller hole than 62mm

      Intake hole is bigger 10 mm socket for bolts and you can find out yourself in 5 minutes

      Intake is 63mm for direct bore match. Just did mine with 4-port injectors. Reset the PCM afterwards by ground positive cable on negative 30 secs...ignition on but not started, headlights on then off then ignition off. Viola~

    I've seen guys put the 62mm spacer in, then with a 62mm hole saw, open the intake to exactly 62mm. why you not do that?

      Throttle body spacers don't have any proof of performance, and using a hole saw is not as accurate as Machining a surface and having it fit perfectly with a new butterfly valve

      @@OutJeeping right, but the space was for getting the hole perfectly spaced, and centered. But you neither used a hole saw or had it machined and just plopped a 62mm tb onto a factory hole in the intake.
      The intake hole is 55mm

    Aside from being a dog, the throttle response is as 'right now' as a cable driven throttle could be IMO...drive a 6cycl Trailhawk sometime. 2-sec delay from input to reaction! Almost dangerous. Throttle body upgrades (in my past) were done in conjunction with porting and exhaust upgrades. And ignition. Just the TB might not be a value added item by itself.

      It shouldn't make a difference in that aspect only in throttle response, its not like a forced induction intake.

      A lot more responsive, my jeep is very sluggish with stock gears and 33s and this makes it feel more like stock. I will make another video on 12 hole injectors soon so then we can see the difference even more.

    Ohhh. Kaaaaay...........I searched for a vid on this subject for the explicit purpose of seeing how to disconnect the throttle body cables and what do I see? The swift disconnect with the cables hidden by gloves........no close up of what you were doing with that screw driver or how to avoid damage to the cable end fittings. Move on........nothing to learn here.

Getting the throttle cables off is easy as shown! Pull the opposite end of the cable and it pops out, for cruise and trans cable.

There are 3 different cables with two different attachments but you are so smart you already knew that didn’t ya Mr. Mechanic. I’ve rebuilt carbs........rebuilt engines..........do all my own work on two cars, a Harley, a diesel motor home so I’ve turned a wrench. But I ALWAYS view you tube before doing a projects to see if there’s a new method for a job. In this case I changed the stock throttle body to a 62MM BBK Performance Series and was viewing the video for some different perspective. If you know so much, why do you watch?

      Depends what the bore size is on the RC spacer. Needs to be at least 62mm for this upgrade to be effective.
