The IFBB /(NPC the feeder league),created these divisions out of greed and opportunism, unfortunately money influences every sport and corrupts something beautiful like bodybuilding that was once a prestigious and unique sport unlike anything else. Now pros are indistinguishable, from the dedicated gym 🐀.

When it comes to the flex Lewis Lee priest debate . It comes down to one theme conditioning lee never had flexs conditions. In fact most lees shows he was kinda soggy. Only maybe 2-3 x he was in shape . Flex was all the time every year .
Promoters need to make money and have an ROI. Prize money is there, but it’s not the only source of income and the promoter has to sell out tickets have sponsors and have a lot of people buying the pay-per-view. The athletes has to market themselves and do a lot of things to generate revenue like: clothing line, coaching, nutrition , CZcams, marketing representing products from supplement companies. You have to market yourself and ask what value do you bring? Ask yourself that. The only thing about the 212 that I’m seeing is most of the top guys are going into the open so the question is not who’s winning the 212 it’s who’s going to be there??
212 goes Friday , winner goes and competes at the open
Winner now has 24 hours to do whatever they wanna do , carb up more , eat , get fuller etc
What they should do with not guys entering the show is simply .
Top 3 are qualified for the Mr O and anyone else else needs to complete twice in that year not matter if they have won there first show . Then more like 15 tops guys in the Mr O .
You could then add points for others to get through as they entered more shows

I know a trainer in my area who is pretty well respected with helping guys and girls with competition, diets and stuff and he has this as part of his work out meal along with whey isolate

I don’t understand the “men’s physique don’t want to train legs” comments. They literally were so much bigger than classic physique guys they implemented a height and weight cap lol
I will say though as a Men’s Physique competitor; I would like shorter shorts (if we have to have them), and more poses.
They were bigger but without balance. Most of their mass is in their upper bodies. That right there is not bodybuilding.

I love Lee but he's just too harsh on the 212 , he know very well how hard is to compete at that level , he's not wrong as in totally delusional or something but his critique would've have been more appropiate towards the board short guys , to me the whole "relatability" thing of that class failed miserably
Competing at 212 is easier than open. Priest, Lebrada, Momo, Franco etc would walk through all of them including flex. There should only be one pro division like other sports.

Contests are way underpaying open 212 and classic why compete and lose money due to prep and travel costs . That’s why many qualified guys won’t do garbage shows
Imagine the NFL ( or the NBA, MLB or any of those big soccer clubs in europe ) treating footballers the same manner the IFBB treat its athletes...players won't be able to play anymore , how could they? BB pros sacrifice literally ALL they got for the sport..and the federation treats them like disposable napkins . Nothing has changed since Lee's times , just the first place price has gone up but it has stagnated for decades at this point , iirc Coleman, Cutler even Yates took pretty much the same amount the first place gets . Oh and the humvee..nice eh but if I have to pay mortgage the hell am I doing with a hummer
That's the same logic as why women don't get paid more in NBA. Two things decide how much you get paid. First and most important is what are the finances. Are you making money, losing money or breaking even? If you play in a league that is losing money, it will bankrupt. If it's barely breaking even or has low attendance like arena football, arena soccer, women's soccer and basketball those teams will have much lower operating budgets and salary mass.
Second thing is how to get your fair share if the league is healthy. In north america, all the leagues unionized after baseball and negotiated conditions..
Bodybuilding is run by one family and the Manion minions (the yearly fees for all those pro cards isn't meant for athletes) and then you have the promoters who get authorized to hold shows. Do they make money on shows? How come prize money is still the same? That's questions that come to mind. But don't compare bodybuilding pageants to team sports. The structure is totally different.
Actually bodybuilding reminds me exactly of actors where 87% of SAG members don't make 27,000$ per year. Great. Youre an actor. Now go get a job.
Actually, UFC is probably even worse since all those guys that fight for 10-12k a fight ( before luck and Conor red panty night changed his life, Nate Diaz was headlining Fight NIghts for 20k), you see them postfight saying that they got to be at their Costco- Walmart job Monday morning at 7am.. Even if they fight 2-3x a year once you take taxes, coaches, gym fees, therapy you still need to eat, sleep, live so thru have real jobs.
I'd call acting, bodybuilding and MMA fighting to be semi pro . Some people make a living doing MMA, others do MMA but work for a living.
@@vlada no it's not the same as the gender pay gap , it's about treating people with the respect they deserve. imagine you sign pro for NFL, good, now you pay the pro card, you pay your doctor, your food, your travel to the games. it'd be unacceptable yet pro bodybuilders are thus treated .

Why pay them. A lot of people doing their hobbies don't get paid. Like motocross, for example, there aren't many pros making money. Maybe this sport ruined itself , the fitness and bodybuilding Community Is circus and even as a gym goer not competitor I'm embarrassed to be a part of this online influencer/gym Community. It's over . Was better times .
