Love the way you treat your dog. The way a person treats their dog says a lot about them
I love the love you have for your pup. Mans best friend for sure. My lady use to get on me for always sharing with my dog, I can't help it. :)
"theres only one thing I hate doing worse than dishes, and thats spitting out a dip right before I get on camera"
The way this man treats his dog is better than most people treat each other, man...
cant get enough of these camp cooking videos!!!!
Dave, I used to watch you on Dual Survival all the time. I was REALLY excited to see you had made a CZcams channel. Really enjoying the vids, and as a dog owner, I really appreciate the fantastic relationship you have with your bud rufus.
Dave your #1 in my book! I love how you are with Rufus... cracked me up when you said you hate to eat in front of him without him having his ") I'm the same way 100% He's such a good boy too I can just tell watching him in your videos ~Jaime
You made my day sharing with Rufus. I got in a "discussion" with my step mom last week when she started bitching at me in my own home about giving my Jack Russell the fat off of my steak, (She only feeds her dog dry dog food). She said its bad for them, I say, I don't believe that but even if it is true, I'd rather him die a year sooner than for him to watch his best friend eat chicken, beef, and pork in front of him his whole life and not share. Buddies to the end.
+Shane K well said
+Shane K
The dry dog food thingy is bad for him, not meat and leftovers-;)
Plus pets love to eat our food. Sharing is caring!:)
Dave I think the pup eats better than I do! Enjoying these vids
looking forward to the new book
+Corporals Corner What- there's a third one coming out?
+Atkrdu Never mind, didn't hear the end of it before I posted that.
This lady finds it extremely sexy when a man treats his pets like family. Rufus is a true chick magnet. My man and I got a big dog a few years ago--we went out right away and got a king-size bed. It made us all very happy.
Great video Dave Canterbury,I've been enjoying these older videos
Dandy fine, Dave! I love that dog of yours... his presence brings so much humor to the videos. Think he might want to come visit Alaska for a while?
Thanks for another great video Brother.
20 year old college student. Id guess about 50% of my class mates dont even know how to make a fire. Very refreshing to see these videos.
Rufus loves those garlic biscuits! Every time you open a pack he comes snooping to see what you're up to, haha.
I'm definitely going to make this the next time I'm out in the bush. Thanks Dave!
To: Dave Canterbury - I have never had Chicken & Dumplings ,but I do have to say that looks like an Excellent meal. Thanks for sharing.
chef David your killing me lloll wo I want some too. love seeing you share with your dog. Blessings to you all!
Who are you? I was sure no one in this world treats their dog the way i do...but you do! Hmm happened upon this for recipe ideas...well bravo! Looks good!
Rufus rules! It's great that you have him in your vids. You're lucky to have a friend like him. He's never complained about your cooking.
Great video. My 5 year old will enjoy it this spring.
what I'm loving about this is that you're actually portioning things well.. A lot of cooking vids I've studied have amounts to feed the Mongol army!
Good to see some cooking videos! A lot of people think you're stuck with dehydrated food when bushcrafting/camping. The best food is stuff like this, just add water breads and muffins, prepackaged meat and dehydrated veggies can do a lot. My staple food is pancake batter and peanut butter, top notch camp food. Thanks Dave, great video as always!
Awesome I️ have to stop watching these late at night. STARVING !!!!
Two thumbs up, looks delicious. You can tell a lot about a man by the way he treats his dog. Keep them coming Dave.
Love this video and the book announcement! You made my day Dave. Thanks for this.
Cooking videos are some of my favorite videos, Dave! Really enjoy the series you have on Trees too.
Just had some chicken and dumplings for dinner last night. My absolute favorite comfort food of all time. man this video makes me want it again tonight lol. But I have to go healthier tonight. Grilled fish it is!
As a cook and outdoor enthusiast, I LOVE this new series, and hope there are many more to come. Ill also definitely pick up that book.
Made this on a fishing trip into the backwoods last weekend. Best bush pot recipe I've ever tried. Thanks again for the great videos and amazing book series.
i have been a chef for 20 years now....and i have heard you say you are no cook....but i would be happy to eat at your table anytime...i am really liking the new series ATB Boreal
Thanks Dave. I am always searching the store shelves for foil packet meats, and grains and breads that are "just add water". A lot of companies are starting to come out with more of these recently. "Get home bags" are a great place to carry some of these foods as well (alcohol stove guys/gals).
ive been watching you for a long time dave and you never fail to amaze me,you are indeed gifted sir
Love Rufus. Cant wait for the book. Much respect.
Rufus:Get out of the way Dave!
Dave: its gotta cool down boy
Rufus:its not on fire, so its cool enough for me.
David really enjoy your videos I'm a French and Indian War reenactor and long hunter I love the fact that you were teaching you skills so many of them have become a lost art
Been watching your videos for a couple of years now and this is the most comfortable I have seen you. You always seem a little rushed to get your info out, I still enjoy. Except for some o your blacksmithing that is a little over my head even for an Aircraft Tech like me. Love the dog. Look forward to the cook book to teach my grandkids from.
There is a reciepe called "cream of anything" you can use to add a thickish gravy to the soup. Its a dry mix and would work well.
Rufus is such a well behaved doggie
I don't quite know why I find these videos so enjoyable, but I do. Nice job Dave, keep 'em coming.
Love God Love your channel. Thank you brother for sharing your thoughts and knowledge. Allways enjoyable. Blessings.
Great series Dave I love it!!! One of the best series yet!!! More, More, More!!! Soon as the rain stops I'm breaking out my Pathfinder nested bottle/cook set! Great product. Also thanks for the controllable alcohol stove lid that was a great addition.
Tim
Looks awesome! Thanks for all you do Dave
Dave that looks so good thanks and take care
greetings from MN. Thanks Dave, learning new things all the time.
Your dog know what a hush puppy is...your dog is a real southern gentleman...lol
been a long time since I had some good homemade chicken and dumplings. My mother, grandmother and great grand mother used to all gather around the table making old fashioned dumplings and noodles from scratch and we would have a big huge pot plus sides for the whole family. You never realize how much youre going to miss those kinds of days until they are long gone.
I love everything about this video. Thanks Dave
Another good video. Rufus is a cool dog, so well behaved.
keep these coming. Thanks
That is a happy dog when those dumplings are being made. Hes going " man I know I am gonna get some of the good stuff"!
Aww no dumplins for Iris. Great video Dave! I can't wait to buy your bushpot and try this out. I think I may need to pick up that cook setup as well, that is sweet!
I tried your bush pot chicken and dumplings although in a large pot in the kitchen. Great recipe and I'll definitely consider this for the trail. Keep up the great work Dave. Ohio strong.
Another awesome video, made me hungry just watching it.
Looks good, poor Rufus looks like he's thinking " this guy is crazy - he sits in the woods by a fire talking to himself....But he cooks me good food so I like him ! "
That looks so good. Keep up the good work Dave.
That really looked good. I am enjoying this series. Thanks for the video
Dave,
Thanks for doing what you do. Truly a blessing watching your videos. God bless you sir.

Dave, you have no idea how much i wish that life you live...
What i mean is,i have more than 23 years of experience in wilderness/outdoor ,self reliance/survival, whatever. But i live in a city and i only got time to go into the mountains in weekends :((
That's why i am glad, you are doing this almost every day.All the best.
Respect brother.
Been watching your videos for about 3 years now Dave and that's the first time I've seen you mess up the ending! Haha great video as always!
I love chicken and dumplings! I got hungry watching this one for sure.... As always Dave, well done and I concur with your entire methodologies. I believe that I'll have to get your fire setup, it's to good to not have in use. Thanks for another fine video, I look forward to more in this series.
im 31 and i love to camp fish and hunt year round days at a time ur cooking looks awsome i will try some of your resapes look
Thanks very much for posting Dave, really interesting segment, and enjoying the ideas you are sharing, as my campfire cooking leads a hell of a lot to be desired, and as I am probably the worst cook in the world, I appreciate that with a bit of imagination you can create a meal out of lightweight ingredients available from your local supermarket. Loads of inspiration, and I may now be eating more exciting things other than minute noodles. Thanks very much
haha you crack me up Dave. that last bit at the end. great video wish I could join you
Hello from Gustav. Thank you for making excellent videos of bushpot and meals. I have many enjoyment of your videos.
Another great series. I look foward to buying and using your next book, when available. I already have your other two, this one will be a welcome addition. Excellent job. Sir.
I love camp cooking vids! As an Eagle Scout it just brings back some great memories!!
I love it. Good job! I also love the way you share your meal with Rufus Keep cranking out the videos
I really appreciate your perspective! It's really helped me develop a "real world" mindset on preparedness! God bless!
Cooking is my weak area, especially for more than one. looking forward to this series.
Awesome video, I also carry Cherios dry cereal to crush and mix into soups and stews. Adds a little baked oats flavor, thickens the mix and add extra calories to the meal when I want my soup a bit more hearty.
Mr. Canterbury, when is your bushcraft cooking book coming out?
Looks great, greetings from Greece Dave!
That looks really good, Dave and Rufus killed his plate. Looking forward to additional videos.
Looked good Dave, Thanks for sharing.
What i find lovely to do when i visit a place is to research cookbooks. I particularly like chuckwagon cookbooks.
Three well cake on a campfire is lovely.
Oh my, you make me want to cook. Thanks for your videos.
That looks amazing. Personally I would make more dumplings because I like dumplings covered in the thick broth than the chicken itself.
I'm hungry...but at least the dog got fed...that was so nice of you to share your food like that. :)
Just like grandma made it, with a slight change to what it was cooked on. A 4×10 wood fire steam heated range, able to do a two turkeys and dessert in oven and the rest of the meal on the range. Thanks giving dinner for a fourty member family. The bread and the rest of the pies done the day before. Oven was a twenty loafer if you used the rack. Also had hot water for the dish washers.
This is making me really hungry, that broth looked great by the time it was done. Also Rufus is a beautiful dog man!
nice idea for a new series i can't wait to see more videos of this series
man oh man. golly haha Dave your awesome that looks so good
Thanks for the heads up about the dehydrated veggies!!
Great vid! Thank you so much for posting!
Love the dog! 😊
loving this series, keep it up Dave!
Lol. I just made beef stew with carrots and potatoes flavored with bouillon cubes and shared it with my dog Jericho that looks like a miniature version of Rufus.
Great information as always from the father of bushcraft. Keep these amazing videos coming.
Love common man cooking series good shit as always dave. Thanks
I like these camp cookin videos. Rufus is a nice dog.
Great video as always. Really liking the series, looking forward to the book.
Awesome series Dave. Do you have an instructional video on your cooking set up? I freaking love that thing! Can't wait to see how you use the chain!

Great video! Love the series
Great video, I really enjoyed the end of the video as well.
Great video, thank you Sir.
And, I just love the way you treat RUFUS. It seems that maybe unintentionally, but you do create a "serving" for it. It can't write, but I know how; ... thank you Sir.
Dear Sir: I just discovered your videos, and they are wonderful! I am a 59 year old housewife, and I am ever mindful of food safety. May I suggest that you carry packets of FROZEN chicken pieces into the woods with you? This will give you at least another 12 hours of food safety. I buy fresh chicken tenders in 5 pound bags at my local meat market, and divide them- 4 big breast tenders into a baggie, and then I freeze them. (This is called "portion control"!) I can take out one or two baggies and drop them into a pot of cold water, where they thaw very quickly. (3-4 hours at room temp?) After 2 hours, they are still partially frozen, but can be broken apart and put back into the cold water to thaw even more quickly. Depending on how I cook it, I allow 2 to 4 large chicken tenders per person per meal. (But, I would probably require more protein if I were out in the woods!) I like your common sense approach to food prep and emergency nutrition. I do a lot of cooking in Dutch Ovens on my wood stove, so I understand and appreciate your basic precepts concerning food. And I intend to purchase some stainless steel dog bowls and big metal spring clips at the "Everything's A Dollar" store, and attempt some top-of-wood-stove baking (with a pre-heated Dutch Oven inverted over the top). Thank You for that idea! Carry On!
I love these videos with your dog
I enjoyed this video and always enjoy seeing Rufus :)
Dave I just found you on here and I can tell it is great. I at one time was always outside hunting or fishing or just camping. Those days are over now I am disabled but I really love to watch shows like this. It makes me feel like I'm there with you. I always felt like you were the one with the common sense on the dual survivor show.I would love to meet you some time. We live in Northeast TN. Are you close ? I would love to drive up to see the school. I guess I"m just dreamin but anyway thanks for all the videos and books. It gives me something to stay occupied.
