  • In this video, the customer was complaining of her blower motor cutting out intermittently. We observe that the lights for the speed control for the blower motor won't lighting up on her HVAC control panel and also all the controls are very erratic.
The blower motor for the heat and air conditioning would cut out randomly. The video will show you what we found and how we fix the problem on this Volvo heating and air conditioning blower motor problem.

Don't swap the AC control module without disconnecting the battery. You will trip an airbag light otherwise. The switches in the bottom are interchangable between modules. Just pop the frame and the switches out of the old one and pop them in the new one.

These units all suffer the same problem of a broken thermistor which senses the cabin air temperature. On the front panel there is a small vent above the passenger temperature control. The thermistor lives behind there. It breaks of at the body but sometimes can be resolderd or replaced.

On the money! It stopped working lastnight---sure enough, I found it and it's actually better than it was before! Anyway, my wife told me to thank you---we are in the 3rd day of +105* and her car is black in black---dealer can't get to it 'till Monday, she just WON'T drive mine--- soooo, You are the saver of this weekend, ( not to mention peace in the house) We Thank You.

So if you fix the thermostat then the blower motor nob responds to adjustments?? (Cheaper fix than replacing the whole unit.)

    The problems are the contacts
You need to disassemble and use flux to re solder the contacts on the control switch.
    2 on one side
3 on the other side of the control switch.

The panel on the bottom with the switches pops off from the front and there is a bank of plugs that all those switches can plug into.
What I’m not sure is if the switches themselves trigger the features they are meant to control no matter what plug they go in because I keep seeing different arrangements of the switches - like several modules I’ve seen gave the rear a/c control switch in very different positions…

I thought that it was the control head. Your video confirmed it. Thanks for the tips on getting one with the correct buttons. Now I know what I'm looking for. For other tech's to help you, in my situation: No computer trouble codes. Fan knob wouldn't light any LED's, nor would it change the fan speed (which by the computer data, indicated fan desired was at 91%) - so I knew the fan motor was working.

Very interesting range of possibilities. Thanks! Thought I would add my related problem to the universe and see if it pulls in any comments My blower failed to come back on after I shut it off one day. The defroster had been going for a while, the interior of the car was warm and so I just twisted the fan knob to off.
When a little later I wanted heat I twisted the knob, pushed the cabin buttons and noticed the fan was not blowing at all. The lights all responded to my knob twisting and button pushing on/off , high /low but nothing happened. I parked the car, did other stuff and then when I started it again the whole panel stopped lighting up. Still no blower or anything else of course. Now after several different versions of CZcams presentations, checking all the fuses and confirming sufficient voltage with the battery/ alternator... one other strange thing has happened in this no heat electrical mystery. The interior lights won't come on with the central cieling switches anymore. The courtesy lights come on when the door is opened and stay on until the timer shuts them off still, but I guess the "reader" lights want to get in on this mess with my comfort head game now too. Are there any more fuses that could explain this. It is 2021 and the car is a 2001 V70xc
Age and all things so related. But all this so suddenly? A replacement heater control panel looks inevitable and a blower motor too perhaps. But is there a quick fix? It might just be some mechanic didn't reattatch the panel plugs firmly? I may just have a look at that if it comes out like it is shown here on this video. Anyone have a thought about all this? Happy New Year in any case. Please wish me luck.

Guessing you got this figured out. But the interior lights(power windows and locks) issue is common when the computers need to be reset. This happened to me when I was testing a radio with the heart control head unplugged. Disconnect battery and there is a trick with unlocking and relocking the door using the key. Can't remember exact order but it worked for me. Won't fix heater though

@@jasonwakeman thanks for your input. I don't know where I followed through with this issue. I dId finally get heat with an Ebay item replacement climate control panel though...BUT now it is summer ...come.to find out the AC has a very different recognition issue and according to my mechanic there is simply no way to make the vehicle make friends with this alien part for AC. The initial start up actually makes cold air but then something in the back and forth will not let the AC stay on. Anyone know a way to wipe and reprogram an alien climate control module for this?

      @kazparzyxzpenualt8111 Před 2 lety +1

@@jasonwakeman good luck with the part you try! Another thing to be aware of which has been partially explained by my mechanic who consented to look at my problem but actually could not help me with after all is the way the main ECU "talks" to the alien climate control was the relay clicking which happens now upon start up.
He said the clicking (which is audible under the drivers side dashboard ) that goes on for a few seconds then stops THEN the alien climate control panel finally lights up after a worrisome pause. And the fan control knob will activate the fan. This was not the way things went with the car before the climate control panel failed. And one other thing I found you might have on your car is a n easy way there is to check the plug terminal that goes to the fan behind the glove box compartment. A sort of secret panel just like the one on the drivers door that has fuses it mirrors. The door has to be open. You can wiggle that junction at least. All those terminal plugs are prone to oxidize and make you think your fan is shot. But this seemed to help me. It is much better than slamming the dashboard a few times which also got the fan working.

@@kazparzyxzpenualt8111 super helpful! Thanks! New one works pretty well, but stays on even when key is off 😂 guess you have to get exact same unit from s immolate year and same model as ecu expects 😥. Thanks for tips, good luck with yours!
