I appreciate how you shared the experience and how you made me contemplate different things as you hiked northward. Thanks for being vulnerable on your vlogs!!! One day when you are dead he will watch, and it will mean the world to him. Thanks for such kind words early riser. It's been a pleasure seeing you appear in the comments so frequently. You're welcome for being vulnerable on my vlogs! You should go read the blog and see about that. hahaha
Godspeed, Andrew! If you decide to go back for that last 700, I hope you take us along. It was a privilege to share your monologues. We often experience such lonely internal lives; your generosity in sharing was, and hopefully will be, a thought-provoking journey. Luke 6:38.
Hey Alison, thanks for sharing this comment. Life can be so lonely huh. A friend once shared with me that each person always experiences life "alone", but that it doesn't have to be "lonely". I thought that was an intriguing comment.
This is a relief. So glad you’re okay. You are correct that we should live our own lives. I am one of the people who watched your blogs with my morning coffee. You will be missed. There aren’t many that are as high quality as your vlogs.
Have a blessed life Andrew! We’ll be here if you decide to continue your journey. Otherwise we wish you the BEST! Thanks for sharing some of your life on trail! You have been an inspiration to many!
Andrew: I have followed your AT experience from the beginning, and have enjoyed your videos a great deal. I haven't left a comment before this, but perhaps I should have. I commented to my wife that "I'm worried that Andrew has suddenly stopped posting", so thank you for this video - at least you aren't injured or anything. I wish I had a job for a guy who is as physically, mentally, and spiritually centered and solid as you - great things await you. By the way, I'm a 60-year-old who is planning my FIRST hike, so thank you for your insight and education !! Take Care !!
Hey Mark, thanks for your kind words. Hearing these words from a 60 year old is very meaningful. Best of luck with your first hike! What sort of hike is this? Best wishes,
Loved you short and sweet candid videos man. Do not underestimate the power and value in being someone’s “coffee entertainment” for some of us that is one of the highlights of our days
Glad to see your update! You owe no one an explanation, I personally thought your last couple videos explained your plan well. You are a great person, and people should be able to tell from your videos you are for one very emotionally and mentally mature but as well you have done well at just putting your raw experiences out there without the false romantics of trail. Enjoy your break!
Thank you so much for the update - every morning I would look forward to seeing your new video and when about day 70 they stopped appearing, I actually began to worry about you! So I was delighted to check in today and find you sitting on a log in the woods, sharing your thoughts. It's amazing how invested I became in your journey, and hope you know that many folks followed along with you as you travelled the AT. Good luck to your new adventures in life --
Thanks Noreen! I appreciate your having taken the time to write here in the comments. Please don't worry; these videos really do a poor job of expressing all the dynamics of a life. An absence or presence of a video has very little correspondence with what actually might be happening with me in the lived moment. And, isn't it funny how we can become so invested in someone we don't even know!? I do the same thing with people I watch. Best wishes!
I’m on the at currently and saw your picture in the Harpers fairy atc log book. Glad to see you are living your life on your terms. Peace and blessings
I miss watching your hikes but so happy to see you are doing well! My son is presently doing the AT thru hike and he is not vlogging so watching you helped me to know what he was going thru! Thank you for that! Stay well Andrew!
Great to hear from you. Just saw your picture at Harpers Ferry. You were fun to follow as you started before me so I enjoyed your view of the trail as I was waiting. Thank you for sharing what you did!!
Oh cool! You've done a lot of walking my friend. What number were you at Harpers Ferry? I think someone told me along the way that you also trained to be a pastor. I'd love to hear about your story one day.
@@andrewgoorhuis I was number 50 15 days ago. Yes I am trained for pastor and I have a Master in Divinity degree. We have that connection and I enjoy getting in touch.
We have really enjoyed your videos... And certainly respect that you do for you... When/if you post more videos we will enjoy them just as much. We hope you are blessed along all of your journies.
Thanks Suzanne. This is exactly the sort of social relationship on CZcams that gives me the most confidence and warm feelings. Like, "I appreciate the gift. I recognize I watch because I choose to. I'll look forward to choosing to watch more if I want to and there's more to watch". Yes! And then I can respond with "Hey cool! I'm appreciate that you watch and give me space to be me. Please share with me from your own wisdom!" And then we can be CZcams buddies.
Many blessings to you as you go forward in life. Your personality is inspiring. Thankyou for thinking of your followers and checking in. 😊 don't worry about us we have lives. 😊
yay! Oh man... I'm noticing how anal it comes across for me to communicate that other people should "have their own lives". What a dick! haha Thanks for your comment Kat. :)
Thank you for this update. We do get invested with the people we watch and want to know your ok. Wishing you the best with the adventures in life going forward. Thanks for sharing your videos and your blogs!! Enjoyed
Hey Andrew, thanks for checking in with your devoted followers😉 You be you, the unique and enigmatic person that you are. I can relate to your "quirkiness" and that's one of the reasons why I like watching your thru-hike vlog. I hope to see you back on the trail, but if your life goes in another direction I think I'll survive. It would be nice to let us know either way when the time comes. When I lived in Boston, we fondly called our Mainer friends "maineiacs," and they usually didn't disappoint . . .
This update did not disappoint 👍 You summed up you very well. This what makes listening to your trail talk special. You got the very interesting person down pat. All the best to you. It has been great experiencing your journey with you thanks.
I’m glad you posted this. I miss your vlogs. They are different and honest and always eloquent. Look forward to whatever is next, if you decide to share ✌🏻
Thanks Lina, being called "honest and always eloquent" is like a sugar rush to my ego. hahaha, be careful! I'll look forward to sharing with you when I next post. peace!
I enjoyed your video with coffee this morning Thank you for the update and I’m looking forward to hear what you are up to next. Enjoy your time with friends and family
I miss watching your hiking the AT trail. I glad you are doing well. Hopefully you get back on the trail when you are ready. Thanks for sharing. Stay Safe and REST, then HIKE ON!!!
I appreciate the candor on your channel and the honest discussions you have with yourself and your viewers. From my perspective, I just enjoy seeing folks hiking the trail and having a good time while doing it. It helps me stay connected with a passion I have for backpacking and hiking, but since I have limited time to hike, the vlogs really help me stay connected until I'm out there again on another section hike. Thanks for the update on life and I hope to see you back on trail to finish and get that Triple Crown! Thanks and God Bless!
Thanks for sharing Jeff, I'm happy I could be someone you fell like you could appreciate and connect with. I hope you're back out section hiking again soon!
Thanks for the update. Looking forward to seeing all your adventures when the time comes. I appreciate your snarky sense of humor. Much like my own lol.
I'm glad you're okay, and finding time for yourself and family. Good luck with the job search, and hopefully you get to sprinkle hiking in. You put out a great vlogg and insights to your day. Thanks for all the videos. Enjoy life.
Good attitude! Thanks for the update. I think most people were just concerned that something had happened to you. Glad to see you made a choice because its what you wanted rather than what "we" want. Enjoy your life and I hope you are blessed in whatever you do! Take care.
I started reading your blog last week after watching parts of your AT hike and really enjoying and connecting with your personality. I quickly realized that I went through a similar (from what I can deduce from the pieces you've shared) relationship situation during the same time period while you were on the CDT (and also man, I hate plastic and loved your dedication and thought process behind the decision to carry your plastic waste). Sometimes we feel like we need to yell "f*** ***" into the abyss, sometimes we need to sob on the side of the road, and a lot of the time we need to look back and think about the part that we played in our own life. I'm excited to finish reading about the rest of your CDT hike and how you sifted through all of your emotions. I wanted to share how much I appreciate your vulnerability and how open you are with your emotion processing and all of the quirks of being human in both your writing and vlogs. I agree with your thoughts about the whole parasocial relationship that sharing about yourself and your life online can create, but on the positive side, it can also be so helpful and comforting to know that people all over the world are experiencing the same emotions, desires, and adventures we are. That we're not alone. So thanks. I appreciate you a lot.
Hey Saywolta, your comment is really in depth. Thank you so much for taking the time to write here. Thank you for reading the blog. Thank you for seeing the complicated depth of human relationships, self-relationships, and even para-social relationships (or non relationships). I especially appreciated when you wrote, "and a lot of the time we need to look back and think about the part that we played in our own life". That self reflexivity is really important, and I'm happy you've reminded me of it. I hope that self-reflexivity comes through in my written blog. The last thing I wanted to do with my writing was cause the people I care(d) about more harm. And yet, I felt that the voice the blog required was one which could really express what I thought and where I was while I was on the CDT. Anyways, you can see how your comment engages me. I'm typing too much to get through all these comments. Thanks again.
Andrew, I am just glad to know you are doing well. I am so happy you vlog your hiking experience, but I completely understand that it's a very personal journey this thing we call life. So I hope you can get the jobs you want and continue to enjoy life. I have enjoyed your quirky personality. You are very entertaining to listen to. Hike your hike while living your life. All the best to you! Thank you for letting people know you are okay. I look forward to seeing what else you share.
Glad to see your okay always look forward to video's. It's important that you hike your hike. A walk in woods is always a deep reflection especially when you are doing a thru hike. Take care and may Godspeed!
He is always with you and loves you. What a champion you are to share your journey and your thoughts. Praying the best is yet to come wherever you are led!
I think your virtual family was worried about you more than just a morning coffee.😊 Thanks for the update. Enjoy being young and experiencing life. I was waiting for you to mention poop in there somewhere .😊❤
So happy you are well, and thank you for taking us with you. I wish you the best!, and we are taking an RV trip to Maine in August, and will be staying the, Kennebunkport, Damariscotta, and Belfast areas, (if you know of any must see or do, let me know lol). Take care, and keep having fun. Pat (Tugboat)
Those are awesome places in Maine. Enjoy the summer heat in August! The best thing you can do is drive thoughtfully and kindly, especially when you see cyclists on the road. I am one of those cyclists. Take our frustrating presence on bumpy and narrow country roads as an opportunity to remember that driving slowly with the windows down and being present is better than driving fast to get somewhere just to get back in the car to drive somewhere else. Better yet, is the bike itself.
Andrew You were absolutely or favorite hiker to watch!! Thanks for your update and sharing your thoughts about the experience and your future. JT & TT - Jerseytown, Rocksylvania
Thank you for allowing us to come to your Ted Talk! Glad you're enjoying your freedom for now, soon enough you need to do the work life. Enjoyed seeing the video, thank you.
Enjoyed your videos , mainly because of the reason you said,” I really like this guy” You always found something to laugh about, mud, slick rocks. Enjoyed your hike so much and I have read the blog , enjoyed that also. Many blessings!
I appreciate what you have said in this video and others about just talking to the people around you in regular life and getting to know them; that all people are fascinating. As someone who sets up trail magic fairly often, I try not to get too focused on the youtube 'celebrity' hikers. Instead I just go out and feed and talk to anyone who walks up to my chairs. Every single hiker has an interesting story that I want to hear. Best wishes on your job prospects! I hope you find something that brings you fulfillment and allows you to contribute to your community.
Good Morning, good to know you are ok. As a follower of many YT Creators it’s nice to know what happened when a story abruptly ends. Kind of like Forrest Gump, “I think I’ll go home now”…
Great to hear from you. You were missed! You are a superb story teller (and scenery view enabler, and hike glimpser, and interesting thought sharer). PS - nice haircut.
I enjoyed your videos.i hoped you were safe when you stopped posting but remembered you were near home. I was looking forward to watching you finish. Take care and good luck with all things.
Thanks for remembering I was near home. That shows me you were listening to me well! And, I will certainly get out and finish the AT, just don't know when it will be. I hope I can share with you again.
I relate to the shift between "once in a lifetime" to simply something that I do - I have a bit of a lifestyle like that as well. It's good to see you and I appreciate your sharing. I really enjoyed travelling with you as I will never be able to go at your pace, much less with a smile on my face as you do. Best wishes with your coming opportunities and experiences!
Hey knotty number (what a fun name), thanks for sharing back with me. I appreciate knowing that you can relate specifically to my expressing a transition to trail as "simply something that I do".
Good morning Andrew! I've greatly missed you 😉 I want you to know that I greatly appreciate all of your videos. You're a very uplifting and inspiring young man. I can totally understand your need to get off trail and spend time with your family and friends especially when you live in such a beautiful area. But I do hope you'd finish your Hike seeing your such a goal oriented and driven man, but if not thats fine too. Best wishes to you on whatever you choose to do in your life. Enjoy your summer. 🚲 🏖 🍷 😊 God Bless 🙏 ❤
I’ve been watching tons of thru hiking this season , it looks like so much excitement , challenging too I understand why ppl want to thru hike , hey it’s also thru hike season
As someone who hikes the AT as a sort of wilderness spirituality and pilgrimage project, I enjoyed listening in on your trail banter with its occasional contemplative and spiritual angle. Blessings on your journey!
We enjoy your videos and the way you share exploring nature. They attract us to getting out there ourselves (while we’re drinking our morning coffee 😅). I think I’ll go for a bike ride to the park now. Happy trails.
Hey there Brother. I appreciate your vlogs and fully get that this is your story for your own future reflection. I posted my vlog on instagram last year and had to remind people that I was allowing them to join my personal thoughts. But the vlog was created for the future old fart that was sitting in his nursing home rocker. Lol! Enjoy your time on the trail. You are going to have a life full of these rich memories.
Your thoughts are interesting. I find myself obessing not so much on the journey but on the destination. It would be devestating to me if I didnt complete my thru hike. I understand that you still plan to do it and thats great but its interesting to me what your mind prioritizes. The ability to turn on and off dreams at will and prioritize other places and people in your life is something im not able to do at this time. Thanks for posting all these videos andrew and I look forward to seeing more in the future. 🙂
Hey craeden, thanks for sharing a little about yourself! You know, if I hadn't hiked the AT when I did I think I would have feel a bit more like the way you do. That drive is definitely what keeps a thru going when it sucks, is boring, or is lonely. Having started so early, and knowing I'd move so consistently, I imagined from the very beginning that I'd end up needing to take a break and let snow melt off. So, it was sort of baked into the trip from the beginning.
Hoping to experience some of these lessons for myself here soon. I think getting to a place in your hike where you aren't running from anything, and aren't really chasing anytning either is admirable. If you are feeling fulfilled, then I think we should respect any decision that comes with that in regards to the channel. Appreciate you taking us along! The monologues offered much to think about going into my SOBO trek this year 😁
Min 9:20 just about brought tears to my eyes because I can relate. The grind I put into the AT early on was intense, including "requirements" ie 20+ mile days, 10 mile nights blah blah blah...And after finishing it, I finally learned no one "cares". They dont care if I do it or not, or how I do it, or when I do it. Its walking. But somewhere along the Sheltowee Trace I learned to embrace time, appreciate quietness and alone time and care for myself more than the goal. All of that aside, I still grind it out some days and it brings me joy vs stress now :)
Hey Scott, thanks so much for sharing. I'm touched that your life, in the moment you saw it mirrored in my life, brought tears to your eyes! And now you've chosen to mirror your experience back to me and so now I'm feeling a little more connected. That is something quite wholesome, I think. Glad to hear you have such a balanced trail experience. Seems like sometimes trail just demands we grind out some days. haha
You may not like this but your are a compelling person to watch. You have interesting perspectives and show trail in it's reality, not glossed over with drones or high techy crafts. You are funny and cool. You were cruzin the trail and was excited for you, for the triple crown Because of that, it was fun to watch and i looked forward to your videos daily. Until recently, you were really the only AT hiker i was watching. It think it's important to recognize that you have folks that are willing to invest their time in watching you and it's so appreciated that you take the time to do so. Sure, i would have liked an update sooner but i also understand the need to not be a slave to the vlog. Per say. Bottom line, i love watching your content and i hope for more in the future. All the best Andrew and the trail will always be there. Hiking it is YOUR adventure, not ours :) Some of us fan geeks should recognize that also.
Hey MJG, I'm really appreciating the way you're indicating a bit of a reciprocal responsibility present in this little CZcams channel. Yes, ultimately my posting isn't expected (I can't find the word, I'm tired). Maybe that would be different if there was some sort of two way relationship (e.g. money was involved). Despite this, people are sacrificing time they could spend elsewhere to watch me. That's not my responsibility, and yet is something I can be responsible about. A bit of self-disclosure about my CZcams process; I never felt anxious about meeting a certain amount of "time" for each video. I watched others post videos that were sometimes a half hour long! That seemed like a lot of time living with a camera, a lot of time editing, and a lot of time for people to invest watching. I developed a sort of guiding principle; "If I'm going to waste people's time, I should waste as little as possible". hahaha I often wondered what people might be doing instead of watching my video. Like.. people watch with coffee apparently. That's cool. But what if instead of watching my video with coffee they were helping their kid with homework with their coffee, or training their dog, or just not looking at a screen. I don't know! I can acknowledge that watching a CZcams video is not a negative thing. It's a neutral thing. Like most everything else. But, if people were so committed to watching that they were willing to miss out on other things that might be more important, then I didn't want to be present longer than I deserved. Does that make sense? Walking alone gifts a lot of time to overthink things.
Thanks for the update. I followed you because you are interesting. Your videos come with raw feelings and thoughts versus some other vids of monotonous jib jab and the same views as many other hikers. You owe me nothing. I sincerely wish you the best in whatever your next adventure and you will continue to be on my subscription list. Press on with life Andrew.
Hey Pam, thanks for risking some confrontation with me. I appreciate you sharing your thoughts and calling me into more responsibility. Sorry to have left you feeling ghosted! The word "ghost(ed)" sticks out to me. Through my communications you've gotten a sense for my personality, some of the things I feel are important or are affect me, how I deal with challenges, and many other things. That's not all of who I am, but certainly creates the possibility for a sense of felt intimacy. I, however, have had almost zero opportunities to learn about any of the real, dynamic, and expressive people (like you!) who chose to view my videos (isn't CZcams so limited!). So, when you express I've ghosted you (nice millennial term!), my immediate response is "but to me you've always been a ghost". I don't share this to critique, but because I wanted to express my response! How strange.. what do you think?
It is funny, but when I was following your vlogs - and I did follow all of them, but seldom commented, I quietly gave you a trail name that only I knew…I tuned in to see what the “Young Chaplain” was up to. Gordon Lightfoot’s “Sit Down Young Stranger” also came to mind. I so enjoyed your thought provoking monologues and all the beautiful sights and sounds that you shared. I wish you the very best in all your future endeavors. You are sure to make an impact wherever/whatever you choose. Regardless of why you shared your journey, THANK YOU for doing so!
Thank you for letting us know. Middle aged woman who’s spent the last 37 years (since an unsuccessful attempt at 20) , trying to get back. Was living vicariously through your journey. Grateful for the footage you shared with us. So glad you’re with your family. Again, thank you.
Thank you for sharing your journey with us thus far! My partner and I have been wanting to try backpacking and having been watching thru-hikers for inspiration and to learn more about how it’s done. You’ve been one of the few who has talked about some of the rougher parts of thru-hiking that get ignored in the more romanticized videos. Best of luck to you on and off trail! Hope to see more of your videos soon, and if not then, “Okay, bye!” 😊
okay bye! :D Thanks for sharing about the way my sharing has been helpful! I feel very excited for you and your partner's exploring of backpacking! It sucks.. and then you find you like it anyways. haha
@@andrewgoorhuis We are too! Learning to “embrace the suck” will just be part of the experience. We think it will make us cherish the good parts even more. Hopefully we will be able to do a trip (albeit a much less epic one) soon! 🤞
I lost the bet. (that I had with myself) In my head you got off the trail for a family thing. (a happy thing, not a sad one) You returned to the AT, continued (continuing?...who knows because you seem to effortlessly walk 50 miles a day consuming only hot chocolate with whipped cream) on your hike but have been storing up the videos to post them when you are off the trail. Because people can be people and no one wants to come across someone who "knows" you but you don't know them so of course a delay posting the videos makes 100% sense. This was a very good video to watch. Thank you for checking in.
Sometimes it's good to get things off our chests, as you did in this video. It must be difficult to read the negative comments. Lots of positive ones too though. My impression of your videos was that you enjoyed the trail, but were at times also frustrated. But what hiker doesn't get frustrated. Perfectly normal. Hope to see you on trail if/when that happens. Wishing you the best.
Sharing your hike, for whatever reason, with anyone who cares to watch was a good thing to do. I deem you to be a good person lol 😅 stay safe and hope to see you again
Hi Andrew, a thoughtful and eloquent monologue. I followed you because you seem a sympathetic man, rather less self-centered than so many AT vloggers. Somewhat enigmatic too, with an apparently ongoing internal dialogue with yourself that led to you often laughing at yourself. Unasked advice, perhaps don't overthink everything you do, try to just enjoy the simple pleasure of being out in the woods and meeting all those interesting people, in modern therapytalk "be in the moment". Don't apologize, don't feel you owe it to us to account for your choices and actions; for me I'm just glad to see you're ok.
There are some great trails in Britain and Europe. I hope you consider some of those. I can help offer advice on those, as i hike in the UK very often.
Hey MJG, thanks for the suggestions! I haven't constructed any dreams about international travel just because it's so much more expensive (or at least I don't yet know how to travel abroad inexpensively). So, I've stuck to North America. But, and with my background in religious studies/experience in mind, I would love to walk a camino, walk the National Israel Trail, and do a Buddhist walk (that I don't know the name of but know it exists) in Japan. That "triple crown" of religious walking would be so incredible. Maybe when I'm rich!
@andrewgoorhuis I say this because now I feel like I know more about you, and I have a different view of your past videos that I've watched. I have only followed you since the AT. You're an interesting fellow. So, maybe not the best, but for me, an eye opener.

Thank you for update. Good to know your safe and sound and living your life as you want. God Bless your future endeavors .
Thanks Dianne
I miss watching your hikes but so happy to see you are doing well! My son is presently doing the AT thru hike and he is not vlogging so watching you helped me to know what he was going thru! Thank you for that! Stay well Andrew!
Oh Cool! Thanks for sharing Natalie. Happy to help illuminate what trail life is like. Best wishes to you and your thruhiking son!
Please share with me from your own wisdom!"
And then we can be CZcams buddies.
What a dick! haha
Thanks for your comment Kat. :)
Thank you for this update. We do get invested with the people we watch and want to know your ok. Wishing you the best with the adventures in life going forward. Thanks for sharing your videos and your blogs!! Enjoyed
Thanks Karen!
Thanks for the update and being you. Best of luck in your future endeavors!!
thank you mitoosuns
Thanks clc!
It's all good. Best Wishes and Happy Trails!
happy trails!
Best of luck to you Andrew! I enjoyed your videos and your thoughtful and fun comments along the way.
Thank you Laurie.
I’m glad you posted this. I miss your vlogs. They are different and honest and always eloquent. Look forward to whatever is next, if you decide to share ✌🏻
Thanks Lina, being called "honest and always eloquent" is like a sugar rush to my ego. hahaha, be careful!
I'll look forward to sharing with you when I next post. peace!
I enjoyed your video with coffee this morning
Thank you for the update and I’m looking forward to hear what you are up to next.
Enjoy your time with friends and family
yeah for coffee buddies!
Appreciate the update! Good luck with your future. Will definitely tune in in the future if you post more.
ok! Cool... :)
I miss watching your hiking the AT trail. I glad you are doing well. Hopefully you get back on the trail when you are ready. Thanks for sharing. Stay Safe and REST, then HIKE ON!!!
Heartfelt, thanks for the update
you're welcome!
Much like my own lol.
yeah snarks!
Glad to know you're okay!!!
I'm glad you're okay, and finding time for yourself and family. Good luck with the job search, and hopefully you get to sprinkle hiking in. You put out a great vlogg and insights to your day. Thanks for all the videos. Enjoy life.
Thanks Elizabeth!
Good attitude! Thanks for the update. I think most people were just concerned that something had happened to you. Glad to see you made a choice because its what you wanted rather than what "we" want. Enjoy your life and I hope you are blessed in whatever you do! Take care.
Thanks it guy!

Great insight. Loved the video. Congrats on the triple Crown. Crow✌️
woohoo!
Thanks Tammy, I appreciate your regard.
I’m just SO glad that you are OK. Do what is right for you!
øke doke. Also, cool! CZcams handle!
Glad to see your okay always look forward to video's. It's important that you hike your hike. A walk in woods is always a deep reflection especially when you are doing a thru hike. Take care and may Godspeed!
Hey Charles, thanks for your comment. Godspeed! (how fast do you think God's speed is?)
He is always with you and loves you. What a champion you are to share your journey and your thoughts. Praying the best is yet to come wherever you are led!
Well said. Hope your journey brings you joy and happiness.

I think your virtual family was worried about you more than just a morning coffee.😊 Thanks for the update. Enjoy being young and experiencing life. I was waiting for you to mention poop in there somewhere .😊❤
I FORGOT TO TALK ABOUT POOP
Thanks for the up date😊
you're welcome Christine

You were absolutely or favorite hiker to watch!!
Thanks for your update and sharing your thoughts about the experience and your future.

Thank you for allowing us to come to your Ted Talk! Glad you're enjoying your freedom for now, soon enough you need to do the work life. Enjoyed seeing the video, thank you.
Boo work life!
God bless you. May life treat you kind!!! Thank you for sharing your adventure........

We have missed you! You make me laugh! Love the snarkey, funny comments, somewhat my brother from another mother!!! You do you well!
woohoo! Snarky!

Congratulations on your accomplishment! you have done what few ppl can.
What have I done?!
He's still got an attitude 😞
Enjoyed your videos , mainly because of the reason you said,” I really like this guy” You always found something to laugh about, mud, slick rocks. Enjoyed your hike so much and I have read the blog , enjoyed that also. Many blessings!
THANK YOU FOR READING THE BLOG
I had followed you early on but not as much since I started my own AT hike. Always enjoyed your style of telling a story.
I hope you find something that brings you fulfillment and allows you to contribute to your community.
mhmm. :) I Think we often fixate, forgetting that every single person has something to teach and tell.
Thank you for sharing! I wish yiu very well in all that you do. I know it i selfish, but i must say i will miss my morning philosophy sessions.
hahahaha, this is a funny comment. Thanks Kathy for your kind words.
Good Morning, good to know you are ok. As a follower of many YT Creators it’s nice to know what happened when a story abruptly ends. Kind of like Forrest Gump, “I think I’ll go home now”…
I think I'll go home now is so real.
Brother I love all about your channel, thanks!
Thanks retired person!
Hi Andrew! I miss your vids. Honestly, I miss your vocabulary! You always have prolific things to say that make me think. Have a fantastic day!
It’s nice to hear all is well. The best part of the trail is yet to come, Maine was my favorite.
MAINE IS THE BEST
Great to hear from you. You were missed! You are a superb story teller (and scenery view enabler, and hike glimpser, and interesting thought sharer). PS - nice haircut.
Thanks. I cut it myself. :D
You look great 😃 so glad you are doing good ☺️
Thanks Anita!
Of course! Keep me posted.
So good to hear from you, thank you and Good Luck 💪🌷
BTW you were my coffee companion in the morning 🙄🤣🤷♀️
Hurray for morning coffee companions!
Hey Joan! Thanks for the kind words. It's lovely to see all your emojis again!
I’ve been watching tons of thru hiking this season , it looks like so much excitement , challenging too I understand why ppl want to thru hike , hey it’s also thru hike season
mhmm! Thruhiking is the best. :)
As someone who hikes the AT as a sort of wilderness spirituality and pilgrimage project, I enjoyed listening in on your trail banter with its occasional contemplative and spiritual angle. Blessings on your journey!
Thanks Chris!
We enjoy your videos and the way you share exploring nature. They attract us to getting out there ourselves (while we’re drinking our morning coffee 😅). I think I’ll go for a bike ride to the park now. Happy trails.
YEAH! Bikes!
Love your videos. Love your thoughts. Ur such a cool guy. Thanks for sharing
Hey smoketownjane, thanks!
Thanks single buck. Isn't it funny how we have to remind people?
Enjoy the rest of the spring and summer, wherever that takes you!
Thanks!
The monologues offered much to think about going into my SOBO trek this year 😁
Hey Zeb! Good luck with your SOBO! You've used so few words to describe something so important! That's so impressive.
Seems like sometimes trail just demands we grind out some days. haha
Nice video, with lots of big words, see you back on the AT, so let's keep on hiking 😊
hahhaha :D
Can always count on Danny to encourage more hiking!
You may not like this but your are a compelling person to watch. You have interesting perspectives and show trail in it's reality, not glossed over with drones or high techy crafts. You are funny and cool. You were cruzin the trail and was excited for you, for the triple crown
Because of that, it was fun to watch and i looked forward to your videos daily.
I developed a sort of guiding principle; "If I'm going to waste people's time, I should waste as little as possible". hahaha
I often wondered what people might be doing instead of watching my video. Like.. people watch with coffee apparently.
Thank you. :) And nice golf form!
Gordon Lightfoot’s
“Sit Down Young Stranger” also came to mind. I so enjoyed your thought provoking monologues and all the beautiful sights and sounds that you shared. I wish you the very best in all your future endeavors. You are sure to make an impact wherever/whatever you choose. Regardless of why you shared your journey, THANK YOU for doing so!
Thanks Deborah. I appreciate all your kind words.
Good to see your video.
cool haha
Thank you for letting us know. Middle aged woman who’s spent the last 37 years (since an unsuccessful attempt at 20) , trying to get back. Was living vicariously through your journey. Grateful for the footage you shared with us. So glad you’re with your family. Again, thank you.
Ah! The trail misses you! Thanks for your comment Ellen
Thank you for updating us on your welfare; I've been checking in to see if you are ok. I really loved your vlogs and wish you the best!
Thanks Jackie. I am well!

mhmmm
Thank you for sharing your journey with us thus far! My partner and I have been wanting to try backpacking and having been watching thru-hikers for inspiration and to learn more about how it’s done. You’ve been one of the few who has talked about some of the rougher parts of thru-hiking that get ignored in the more romanticized videos. Best of luck to you on and off trail! Hope to see more of your videos soon, and if not then, “Okay, bye!” 😊
okay bye! :D
Thanks for sharing about the way my sharing has been helpful!
no no! There is no less or more epic trips. Just epic trips.
@@andrewgoorhuis I love this perspective! We will have to start planning our first of many epic trips!
Thank you for checking in.
oh man.. how much do you owe?
HOT CHOCOLATE AND WHIPPED CREAM
Sometimes it's good to get things off our chests, as you did in this video. It must be difficult to read the negative comments. Lots of positive ones too though. My impression of your videos was that you enjoyed the trail, but were at times also frustrated. But what hiker doesn't get frustrated. Perfectly normal. Hope to see you on trail if/when that happens. Wishing you the best.
Hey thanks Judy!
no, you were more than coffee entertainment, you were showing us what it is like to hike the AT, the realities of it, thanks for sharing
Dude... you keep doing you. It doesn't really matter what the rest of us really think. :-)
Right on!
Yo Andrew!! Have a great day
You too Rusty 😌
Sharing your hike, for whatever reason, with anyone who cares to watch was a good thing to do. I deem you to be a good person lol 😅 stay safe and hope to see you again
I am deemed good!!!
You were someone I could never really troll because you’re so good at walking 😝
hahahaha. What makes someone so good at walking?!
Ok! I will think about how I should live my life not overthinking it!
haha, thanks for the comment mr dutchman!
Very well said 😊
cool
God bless brother :)
thanks!
Best video I've seen from you.
O.o Why do you say this Fistmele? Would you please be more specific about how this is the "best video you've seen from (me"?
@andrewgoorhuis I say this because now I feel like I know more about you, and I have a different view of your past videos that I've watched. I have only followed you since the AT. You're an interesting fellow. So, maybe not the best, but for me, an eye opener.
