    • @ScuffTuff
      @ScuffTuff Před 29 dny +1

      Here’s an even bigger sleeper pick that I think is super worth watching, Rob Dillingham. I genuinely think his drafting by Minnesota increases their title window by almost a decade and improves their title odds dramatically. Their lack of trade capitol and huge contracts, specifically KAT and Rudy, had me super worried they’d only have a few years to contend before having to blow it up cause they wouldn’t have the assets to build around Ant kinda like the Bucks right now with Giannis but I think he’s a complete game changer to what this team’s ceiling is.

      Next year will be the FIBA AmeriCup which would be good practice for Team USA. Not in terms of competition maybe but it is good as a way to improve teamplay by having a team that remains consistent. Then in 2027 there's the World Cup. If Team USA can have the same players play together across those two competitions and into the Olympics then their chances improve a lot. And i say that as a person who was hoping for the US to lose.

    Booker literally said "I'll do it". I don't see the other guards besides Ant who has that mentality. Book proved that a Star player could accomplish the role that he just had, so I hope the others show the same tenacity

    How about the New York Knicks "blockiness monster" Mitchell Robinson? Defense was the major issue why the USA Basketball team was challenged so often take a look at Awful Coaching on the matter. They were really not engaging in simple basic defensive fundamentals necessary to shut down their opponents.

  • @Nuvendil
    @Nuvendil Před 29 dny

    I think the big man spot isn't the biggest issue when you factor in the substantial defensive prowess of those 4 you listed. Those 4 guys are DPOY-candidate level defenders.
    Also, 0.0% chance that BOTH Tatum and Brown don't play.

  • @akamikedavid
    @akamikedavid Před 29 dny

    If the team you picked is it, then I would definitely be super nervous. It is hard to predict how players will progress or regress in the next four years so maybe the players you picked will be better than expected. Could also see some other younger players right now emerge.
    I do think the omissions is the bigger talking point honestly. I think Booker would run it back one more time. Booker would serve as that veteran experience that every Team USA team has. It's how you end up with a J Kidd on the team for multiple cycles. If Tatum and Brown actually decline to participate because of hurt feelings and feeling disrespected then they're just being petty and short sighted. It'll be a short term win for them in 2028 to "stick it" to USA Basketball but it'll hurt their legacies in the long run. They'll be seen as putting themselves over Team USA and deliberately hurting Team USA. It'd make more sense if they came in playing with a chip on their shoulder and wanting to prove that 2024 was an aberration and that they are those guys.
    Including Booker, Brown, and Tatum means taking three off and, from your group, I'd probably take off Brunson, Barnes, and Williams. You already pointed out the issues with Brunson and Barnes. Williams is a hard one to cut because I agree with what you said for including him but I also agree with you that we'd want some bigger forwards that could technically play the 5 so that means keeping Paolo and Zion.
    I'd still not be super confident but I'd feel better if Booker, Brown, and Tatum were playing.

    the tatum minutes narrative is heavily overblown. it does not matter at all. if he wants to be a featured player and help the US win gold in 2028 he’ll be there. if not, other people will want to be there.

  • @michaelstankiewicz6617

    If Steve Kerr was coach again, I can certainly see Tatum not wanting to play, same with Jalen Brown. They were both snubbed, even if Tatum has that Gold Medal.
    At center there are definitely concerns, but I wouldn't rule out Walker Kessler or Donovan Clingan just yet, as USA need that bigger body in FIBA play. I love the idea of Zion playing alongside another big, if Zion is healthy and can shoot okay from 3.
    France will be amazing moving forwards, as will Canada, but a number of the other top teams are likely to regress. Australia is losing its heart and soul after these games, with Paddy Mills, Joe Ingles and Matty Dellavedova all moving on. The younger guys are good, but none of them can shoot from distance. Germany are likely to be worse without peak Schroder, Serbia are not likely to get better (seriously, how much better can Jokic get), and he carried that team by being the best player on the floor. Greece have Giannis, but that's about it. It's also likely to be both Jokic and Giannis' last Olympics.
    Also factor in a lot of these guys are young.
    I know I don't want to face a team with Tatum, Brown and Ant when they are all locked in defensively, especially if there is a decent rim presence back there too.
