Once again, just a reminder to commenters that Akim is a hockey player doing this for charity. He is not her new partner, and he is not a professional figure skater. It is unfair to compare him to her former professional partner. I think Akim did amazing and came really far considering he only had a couple months to learn figure skating!
True. You are correct. However Vanessa is again on her way. She has come out of retirement. After being released by France she is now skating competitively for Canada with pairs skater Eric Radford. They are aiming for the 2022 Olympics. Their interview video is on CZcams . I miss seeing her and Morgan together on the ice. But they are now past history.

I too am sad about Ms. James and Mr. Cipres but this is about Ms. James and Mr. Aliu. What beautiful skaters they are. I am impressed with Mr. Aliu. He picked Ms. James up and supported her like he'd been doing it all his life. Ms. James must have been nervous working with another partner and not having years of learning each others strengths and weaknesses and oh my goodness if he had dropped her! I think they completed a magical presentation that was worthy of partners who had worked together for years. I very much admire both of them for their bravery to step out of their comfort zone and try new things with new partners. Bravo!!!!

Yes, and to do a throw triple flip and double twist (3FTH and 2Tw) w/an untrained partner shows her true fierceness. 😍😍
Morgan Cipres is the man for Vanessa. Their chemistry on ice is undeniable. They are beautiful and flawless.Morgan has a gleam in his eye and such love for Vanessa that it moves you to tears.
comparing Vanessas landings they are seamless with Akim as if he gently places her back down on the ice, regardless of height she is coming down from, where as with Cipres you can see her impact the ice clumsily. Her transitions are continuous with Akim and just flow, but when she skates with Morgan you will note pauses in-between transitions making their routine sometimes look mechanical .
watch both and you will see it. Having said that Akim needs to work on showing more feeling and connect with the music as well as with his partners emotions, like Gabriella Papadakis and Guillaume Cizeron
@@RealFIRSTONE Pardon me.!!??. May I enquire as i am curious regarding your assessment. You believe that after 3 months of Vanessa and Akim( a professional hockey player who has never done ice figure skating) that he is better than Morgan? Akim did indeed do well and that should not be minimised in the short time he and Vanessa trained/skated together. She I am sure with her phenomenal skills taught him well along with the trainers.
The music and words were heartfelt but come on, Akim is certainly no where near to the level of skills and artistry as Morgan?! Imho, you do not only Morgan but moreso Vanessa a disservice in mitigating (seeming so dismissive) of their many phenomenal success together. Because guess what, they did it together. One could not of won without the other after nearly 10 years of their amazing sublime artistry, chemistry and connection on the ice which led to their national and international success.!!
Also pls note that Vanessa at 5ft 4 is tall for a female pair skater and the difference in height between Vanessa and Morgan is only 7 ins whereas Akim I believe is 6ft 3ins and that gives him an advantage bringing her down from a height
I have a feeling that for some reason your assessment is biased? but every one has their own views which needs to be acknowledged.
I don't believe any artist reaches perfection and continual growth means that there is always more to aim for. For me however it's about the whole package which transports and gives one the emotional feel; and Vanessa and Morgan were the whole package.
I am pleased for Vanessa that she is still demonstrating her skills and artistry on the ice and is imparting her skills to others.

@@RealFIRSTONE Apparently you have never really watched Morgan skate let alone Vanessa and Morgan skating together in competition! Do you think Vanessa and Morgan would be the top International gold medal pairs skaters for so many years if Morgan had all the flaws you claim he has. I'm American as many of Vanessa and Morgan's fans are, and neither the American or the Canadian pairs teams have ever come close to the scores or rankings of Vanessa and Morgan for the 10 years of their partnership. They are beautiful to watch, Vanessa with her fearless athleticism and beautiful body movment as she skates, and Morgan (the body) with his graceful strength and perfect muscular physic..and handsome too! And he is so gentle in his duty to protect Vanessa as she does her flips and turns in the air. And Morgan is a perfectionist which Vanessa stated was sometimes difficult for her. Akim is a hocky player, I have nothing against him. But the duo of Vanessa and Morgan are the most beautiful pairs skaters on ice.
Myself and others of their fans have watched their entire competitions in many countries on CZcams over the years just to check on our own biases. Those competitions consist of between 15 to 24 skating pairs. There have been no other pairs skaters particularly in the past 5 years with such beautiful skating programs and if they didn't get a medal during a few of those competitions the only reason would be because they had too many falls or mistakes and another couple skated cleaner, although not as beautiful. And they always scored above the ranges of the Canadian and American skaters with one exception, the 2017 Skate America competition They were also the most photographic. Vanessa skated with Yannick Bonheur (I hope I'm spelling his name correctly) before Morgan, but not even they looked as beautiful skating together as Vanessa and Morgan does. I figure if the 10 or so professional judges who judge the various International pairs skating competitions felt they could give Morgan and Vanessa quite a few skating medals over the 10 years he and Vanessa skated together...he must be satisfying the elements they require because they deduct points and levels when you don't do your elements correctly. Morgan is the best and with Vanessa they are the best pairs skaters!

It was so awesome watching Vanessa and Morgan as they "grew up" and worked so hard to become this beautiful pairs team that affected the skating world with their own unique style that the judges finally began to give them credit for. I selfishly have said thank goodness that the pandemic has put skating compititions on hold. It would be so hard if skating compititions were going on as normal without Vanessa and Morgan...and I just imagine how they feel...skating all of their lives...and together 10 years.... wow. I continue to pray for the best for both of them🥇💕🥇💕
Vanessa and Morgan are sorely missed. The two of them brought pure perfection, class, sexiness, Grace and elegancy when they were on the ice together. 💕💕💕💕. No one can take place of either one!!! Vanessa & Morgan. They need to start skating again with each other💕💕.

I've not watched skating for some time as I suppose it isn't my favourite sport. Having said that, Vanessa and Morgan came across my feed and I am mesmerized. I'm also not a huge fan of love songs but the music and choreography is sooooooo....magical and beautiful. Vanessa, you are an incredibly beautiful woman for a hundred different reasons. We are so blessed to have a front row seat. Thank you
I agree. Morgan Cypress and Vanessa skated as one. It is as if they were born to skate together. It is a natural flow between Morgan and Vanessa. I think Morgan is Vanessa's life skating partner. There is no other.

Venessa makes every partner look great. She is amazing. This was a lovely pair skiing vid but nothing.... compares to Morgan Cipres and Vanessa James. Real chemistry, amazing talent and the way Morgan uses his powerful arms and hands to embrace all her moves is nothing short of masterful.

@@RspbyLmn That's understandable. Skating is very dangerous and she has gotten hurt in her training even with her professional partner(s). They both look like they were trying to be as careful as possible, him being a competition skating novice. I held my breath with some of their more advanced moves, but Vanessa is a professional and Akim did well. Bravo to them both.

Soul On Ice! It wonderful to see the professional ice community change with the times. I remember watching Debi Thomas perform in the Olympics with great pride and joy. I enjoyed watching Surya Bonaly, who was another trail blazer, with her flips on ice. Let’s not forget the great Mabel Fairbanks. A shout out to Rory Flack too! Both Fairbanks and Flack were the front runners of theses sisters on ice. Let the greatness continue to flourish for the next generation of woman pacing the way. It’s breathtaking to watch Vanessa and Akim do magnificent skills on ice! They are so inspiring!

Maria De Almeida This performance here in the Battle of the Blades show of Vanessa and Akin who is a professional ice hockey skater - they are skating for their charities.
Sadly and unfortunately Vanessa and Morgan have retired from competitive skating as of end September 2020 and are no longer skating partners. It appears they have gone their seperate ways and focusing on their individual careers. So sad that we will not again see them together on the ice. They are so missed by their thousands/millions of fans.😒😒

Morgan retired because there’s an ongoing, active investigation of him for allegedly sending two lewd photos to a 13-year-old American female figure skater.

So true Vanessa and Morgan; can their chemistry ever be replicated. However Akim is not Vanessa's new partner. This was just a one off for a Canadian Charity Show called Battle Of The Blades (BOTB) which lasted for 6 weeks. Akim is not a professional figure skater; he is a professional ice hockey player. In BOTB hockey players and figure skaters are paired up and they skate for their individual charities. Vanessa and Vanessa came 4th and won $$25,000 for their charities.

Um, This was ok but I really have to agree with the other comments and say that Morgan and Vanessa's chemistry shines through their performance. There is clear trust between them and it emanates love when they are on the ice.

Muito triste , mas teve o momento de estupidez na vida e infelizmente encerrou uma carreira brilhante.
