- In this tutorial, I explain how I set up my iRig Stream and my iPhone to record my drum covers. This question comes up often, and I thought I'd share how I do it. It's a really simple process. I do take some extra steps so I can hear my screen reader when the iRig is connected to my phone. Also, the iRig is bus powered, so I did not need to connect the power supply to the iRig in order to get it working, as you will see in this video.
For this, you will need:
iRig Stream
iPhone
Drum Module
dual TS to RCA cable
Instructions:
1. Connect the TS connections to main output of module
2. Connect RCA ends into iRig Stream
3. Connect Lightning connector to iRig Stream.
4. Connect other end of Lightning connector to iPhone
5. open iPhone camera app
6. Set camera to video mode and start recording.
7. Play!

who ever put the dislike needs to take a look at themselves in the mirror .. because of this video i now know howto record myself playing Drums . Doing this blind is just remarkable.
There's just got to be someone out there with nothing better to do that crap on someone else's hard work. Dude figured out how to do this on his own and it's great quality. I learned from this and an going to buy one of these now
This is the explanation I’ve been looking for 😭 lol you kept it simple and straight to the point 🙏🏽
Great work, simple and helpful. Now go enjoy drumming.
Great tutoria man, that's the clearest video on this topic seen so far.
Fantastic video, exactly what I was looking for, you sound amazing. Thank you so much. Best Regards from the UK
Hats off to you my friend, the drums sounded top notch .. thank you 👌
so helpful, thank you.
Great job Gerad! Thanks so much for sharing ... your kit sounds great! Kind Regards, Tom
You saved me, thanks. Great video
I got the Irig Stream tonight to use with my TD17KV. Going to try it tomorrow. Thank you for making this
did it work? because i have the normal irig with the same kit and its not working
me irig normal its work...@@tim7688
Sounds great!!! I'm going to have to pick one of these up
That was So helpful to a video new b! Thanks a ton, and nice playing too!
Useful! I was trying to understand if I could get a stereo recording with the iRig Stream, and I see that I can. Thank you!
(iRig Stream seem to be the only interface for mobiles that allows you to record a stereo line in input. I'll buy it)
Great job mate
You are awesome! Thank you for the info.
Thanks for the great tutorial. Also you have some chops brother! enjoy drumming :)
Nice job you sound great very tight
I have been very unsure about what kind of outputs I needed to use. I bought a rca to xlr yesterday since I have my kit going through a Yamaha mixer and then that didn’t work and then I thought you were supposed to use the headphone output but that didn’t work either. I guess I gotta get a third cable tomorrow🙈 I very much appreciate the information. Thank you so much!!
Thank you so much bru!
That seems to have been the issue, i had both the TD27 and iPhone on record, when i just recorded with the iPhone it worked. Thanks for your help.
wow cool broham
Nice job Well Done Keep up what you are doing. Kind regards japo
This is great! Do you have a video where you show how to do a drum cover with electronic drums?
Nice tutorial. It is appreciated. One suggestion to make things easier for you: Swing the phone bracket around to the other side (drum side) of the phone. It will give you an unobstructed control surface, and it will not block the camera lens (as long as the bracket is not positioned directly over it). Keep up the good work.
I have to use it this way because the case curves along the ack side of the phone, and when I turn it around, it slips out easily at the slightest touch. I want to get something that stands on the floor.
nice job texas 70 to 35
Easier way to record video is to flip the phone front ways. Easier to maneuver. I use iRig HD2. Take a TRS cable which records in stereo. That to the module to the iRig into the phone. I got a mini mixer with 4 ports and got a wireless headset mic to talk during a livestream which is pretty neat. Pretty cool technology now days. Drums sound good too.
Hey mate, I have a Irig hd2 how do you get it to record in stereo? Mine is recording in mono and won’t allow me to changed it to stereo
@@brycekelly1823 I used a TRS cable. It’s different than a regular input cable. It automatically records in stereo.
Great video! I have a question, i bought the same iRig for the same purpose (make drums videos) but i have a problem with the irig stream, it’s turning off the sound after 4 or 5 min using it, in the beginning you can hear really clear the drums, then it just stop working all the sudden. Hope you can help me 🙏🏼😪 I’m recording in a iPhone 13
Download the iRig Recorder app, run it in the background and enable audio in background. should help.
Great help! Has anyone told you that your voice sounds like Jack Black? Cool!
I've heard that before back in the days, it's crazy, I'd have never guessed that one, even now.
Does it work for Skype/zoom/ Google meet.plan on Using for online drumming classes basically . ..
Cool tutorial! I wonder if I need the iRig stream then. I bought the iRig HD2 and I cannot get clean audio directly from my Roland TD11 module into my iPhone 8 Plus for live-streaming. What’s happening is when I open the phones camera it’s recording using the camera mic and not using the good sound from my module. This sounds like I didn’t even turn my module on and I’m just hitting the pads with no drum sounds. I want to be able to livestream to Facebook, Instagram, and Tik Tok but want the clean sound from the module being used.
Try doing this:
1. Download and install iRig Recorder app
2. Open app and go to settings
3. Turn on "Background Audio" option.
4. Try streaming and see if that works.
Note: You must have iRig Recorder running on your phone while trying to stream. Also, you do not need to use the iRig Recorder app for anything other than enabling that background audio option.
@@DWRhythm okay thanks I think I turned that option on but I will double check. Thank you!!!
Download the iRig Recorder app. Run it in the background and enable the background audio settings and it will work for anything you do, or at least it should.
Should this setup work with the Irig Pro I/O? I set my TD27 just like you did, video looks great but im not getting the audio? Im using an iPhone 11.
It should. so long as the input gain on the iRig is loud enough. You should not hear any camera audio, just the audio from the iRig.
I don't know about the Pro since it's not designed in the same manner, nor have I ever used it.
how did you manage to lessen the bass sound of the electronic drums?
What kick pad are you using with the TD27KV and why the switch?
It's a modded Alesis RealHead trigger designed to accept a mesh hed instead of mylar. I didn't switch anything. This was my kit when I used my TD-9 module. I just changed out the module, and added an additional PDX100.
Hi yeah what do you do if u only have one input on your drum module thanks Jamie
You will use a signal splitter. split the signal coming out of the drum module into both inputs on the iRig Stream.
Question for you sir… will an irig hd work as well ?
it should
After i connect all with irig my video audio still not connected to the video. Im using iphone 11 pro max and it doesnt work. When i use my ipad pro and its ok.
Gerad, do have the TD27 on record at same time as the iPhone?
No, You don't need to record on the module. As long as you have the iRig Stream hooked up to the phone before you open the cvamera app, it will work just fine.
@@DWRhythm I eventually figured it out, thx.
I have the normal version of the irig with the roland td17kvx and i cant figure out how to get it to work
I never even seen the original version of the iRig. so, sadly, I couldn't help you much there. Probably would be left mono out of the module into the iRig adapter, and record on your camera.
What if you’re using a daw and ez drummer how can I pull audio from my laptop which has ez drummer to my phone
I'm assuming you're using the DAW to play your backing track, or if you're not using any kind of backing track, simply line out the L+R of the audio interface your DAW uses into the iRig Stream.
Pls can u help me I have irig 2 but I can’t recoard it with my iPhone 11pro max
Download the iRig Recorder app, and enable the background audio option. As long as you don't close that app, it should allow you to use it more flexibly.
@@DWRhythm thxxx bro I’m gonna try it
For Android smartphone Huawei p30 pro does irig 2?
I only used irig with iphone, so I could not tell you.
Does this work with a cheap irig? The one with just one Input cord?
It should I have irig 2 Nd I can record through it
I got a problem, my phone is a type c, when I use " 3.5 to type c converter ", the sound is totally bad.
But my original old 3.5 phone is perfect
How can I fix it? thanks
the Type C to .5 is converting a digital signal, so it responds a bit differently. If you use the iRig Stream, all the connections will be on the box that connects to your phone via the type C to iRig Stream cable that is supplied with the iRig.
@@DWRhythm so you mean irig steam will be no problem of it?
I'm currently using irig 2, but the sound is totally bad compared with my previous phone
I don't see how it would be. the Stream was meant for line level signals. the irIg 2 is meant for instrument level signals, if I underestand correctly. Also this device has a level controller. YOu may also want to make sure the signal going into the devide is not too hot or that could cause some problems with sound. You may even be able to fix with your current setup. just need a very low output volume from your source.
Please just turn the Iphone Mount around😑🥴my head hurts
