Hello! This is wonderful! Thanks for your very helpful advice! I am just starting to go through your choir tips so you may have addressed this elsewhere, but what would your thoughts be concerning practicing singing from a sitting position?
It's fine - but, better to stand for high passages and 'performing' the music. My rehearsals are 75% sitting I would say (with an adult group). Kids can be more...
Hi thank you for your wonderful info. I need to teach the alto part to some of the members but some of them are finding it difficult to adjust. Are there any tips to make it easier for them to grasp. Also are there any easier ways to make carols more interesting if the choir cant pull through SATB?
Hi, it comes down to making them very comfortable with their own part and then slowly introducing the other part back. There are a few KEY tricks to do this. One of them is that after you teach the alto part, have the sopranos start humming their part and slowly reintroducing it until you can hear both parts clearly. You can divide carols up between men/women, use very simple harmonies and parts (pa -rum pum pum pum), or try finding a round. www.musicministry101.com/choir-essentials

Children usually don't sing in SATB. They might sing rounds in 2-4 parts, though.

You can teach them by ear/rote
Sir I'm Shining star I don't know how to arrange the satb perfectly so kindly teach me the parts arrangement
That's a huge topic, but I would start with music that is already arranged for you!
