so how was it in the uk a little trip from thailand to the uk for 5 weeks to see family and friends
to tell you the truth where i was in derbyshire it was very nice
the house is near the countryside and it was great to be able to go out for some nice walks
something i haven,t been able to do in thailand because of the extreme heat and i must admit the weather was very pleasant in the uk with only a couple of bad days
so in this vlog we will have a talk about the trip the places the walks the food and the prices
i know that many expats now living in thailand have got a bee in there bonnet when it comes to living in uk , but i for one am glad i lived in uk then moved to thailand because what i saved in uk i wouldn,t be able to do that in thailand
so please drop me a comment see what you think

I will discover the costs when I get there in July. But in the winter it gets dark at 3.30 in the afternoon and light at 8,30 am. For me Thailand still wins.

Our average monthly bills here in the UK are £2500 with the mortgage , petrol, insurance , food , gas and electric etc. When we are in issan for a month it costs around £500 a month and that includes having a couple of beers every day and often feeding the family at our house, We generally only drink a couple of times a month in the UK as its far too expensive for us to go to the pub more than that- a pint in my local now here is £5-50. The things that are cheaper here are generally not what Thais eat eg dairy produce like milk butter / margerine and cheese etc. If you bring your mrs over she will have a heart attack when shes sees the price of Thai foods here eg a pack of 5 thai eggplants in the UK are now £7 where as its 20 baht( 40p) per kilo in Thailand and you would get around 35 to 40 egg plants. Mama noodles are £1-25 to £2-50 here depending where you but them and agian are around 20 baht in Thailand . As you said you cannot really compare are the average wages are higher ( providing you are not self emplyed ) but also things are more expensive here when its stuff that is not too popular and its the same in Thailand - ferang foods are always far more expensive but as we all know ferang are always over charged there its just the way it always has been at least for the 22 years Ive been going anyway.the cost of living is definitely subjective to whether its a produce that is used by the nationals of that aprticular country. Glad youve enjoyed coming back Mick. when Ive finally sold the house here and get to Khonkaen will be in touch and meet up on a bike ride out . Safe journey back matey.

All true. Just back from Roi-Et. Been going to Thailand for 20 years. Lived there for 8 months every year. UK is so terribly expensive now. Khonkaen is not far from Roi-Et.
