Thank you for showing how you did your Hamon. I have never seen or heard of anyone doing it with tape that way lol. Pretty darn ingenious. Loved the video.
Just the fact that you didn't forge the curve into the blade, and you actually quenched it in like it's supposed to be 🙏🙌 Proper traditional Japanese Technique. My personal biggest pet peeve of any katana build I see. Edit: before anyone comments, yes, I know this is a wakizashi.
I would love to see a video on how you make your crucibles. Constantly having to buy them is cost prohibitive for me, and what you do is exactly what I want to do.
It's just captivating to watch this guy do his magic from start on rusty pieces of metal to finish holding shiny gleaming pieces of work of art in form of knives.
What do you mean by crap metal, the sword was forged with high carbon cruicible steel. Japanese Tamahagane is quite simmilar and behaves in about the same way.
I count myself fortunate to own 2 of your knives! This is just outstanding work! Truly admire the work, attention to detail and the entire process. Well done
Wootz steel is a very strong steel and has very nice pattern when forged into swords. Tipu Sultan's sword was forged from Wootz steel. It's so beautiful
In the past 10 years I have watched thousands of swords being made... this one is most definitely in my top 5, if not my most favorite!!!! Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful sword my dude!!! Carbon fiber... who woulda thought!!!
My only quarrels were to please use water when cutting and sanding the carbon down 😭 that stuff in dust form is so dangerous, I sincerely hope you were also wearing a mask :,) stay safe
That is amazing! That also looked like an unbelievable amount of work! I have always wanted to see a larger wootz blade on your channel - the outcome is so impressive and of course that includes the handle. It would be really interesting to know what the properties of your wootz steel are like - the history and mystery around wootz is just so deep. I also wish I understood more of the steps in your technique - I mean aside from the secret recipe of course! Thank you for adding those captions!
Bella lama.
Tu me régale mec. De voir au résultat où tu arrive avec du matériel que tout le monde peut avoir sans se ruiner ! Franchement, félicitations tu es un chef !
Lost the temper on several spots along the edge. An oven temper cycle would have been cheaper, easier and with better results on a smaller piece like that. Still, looks nice. Earned my sub.
I was very pleased to watch your technique. Many bladesmiths harden then sharpen. I never saw the logic of working hardened steel. All of my work I use your approach of fully working the metal then hardening.
Amazing!!! Not only great craftsmanship but to have to the understanding of your materials to seemingly pull off both 'difficult' and 'lost' arts using modern materials and techniques is just spectacular! Was this 'Wootz' a happy accident or did you know the springs you used had the correct constituents? Maybe I am missing the point..?
for future reference if you decide to make more japanese inspired weaponry, you should always clay and quench the blade as one of the final steps before polishing and should never sand it afterwards lest you lose your hamon line
Another really good/great vid/ blade! I Enjoy your projects and insights to your project. Having asked about your wootz formula before, just wondering if you are planning on a more detailed video? how long does it take to melt the steel?

The steel pattern turned out exceptionally well, it's simply beautiful.
Hate carbon fittings, but it's a matter of taste.
👍
The carbon fittings and the tactical tanto kisaki are not my taste either. The hada turned out quite pretty indeed.
Im a complete carbon maniac but gotta say that carbon fibre composite does not go well with swords

I actually was really sceptical about the wootz part, but you actually went and did it. Hats off to you. Great video, cheers!
Thank you so much for informing us what the powders and materials are that you add. I’ve always wondered what they were. Amazing work as usual!
It is so cathartic to watch and artist do what they do best.

sorry to break it to you, but crap metal in, crap blade out
What do you mean by crap metal, the sword was forged with high carbon cruicible steel. Japanese Tamahagane is quite simmilar and behaves in about the same way.
It will keel
@@williamblennlid5432 High carbon steel is brittle, that's why it's wrapped in lower carbon steel for flexibility
@@czarekp3552 I definitely wouldn't call springs crap metal
There's something very interesting about watching those impurities flake off the surface of the steel as it becomes pure.
Amazing.
