  • Without a doubt the biggest Miroku news here in the UK for over 30 years. The MK11 was launched in 2021 and has been a popular choice particularly with game shooters since.
So what is this low profile action Miroku really like and is it really that different to the likes of the Browning 525 Heritage.
As ever Matthew gives his impartial views and opinions on this latest offering from his favourite shotgun manufacturer.

Back in the late 70's as a young teenager with a certificate (yes back then you could buy, own and use a shotgun under supervision as a young teen) I had 3 Miroku's; skeet, trap and game and a Remington 1100 semi-auto pigeon blaster. All great shotguns that nobody had seen before, everybody at my local clay pigeon club had a go with my guns and everybody ended up with purple/green bruised shoulders.
£2.00 for a box of (25?) Eley cartridges, 50p for clays. A time served gunsmith in most major towns. All paid for with after school and Saturday job TAG welding for a rate of pay bonkers high.
Matt, thank you so much for reminding me how wonderful my teenage years were in the shooting community back then and how free we all were back then. You have just made my day sir

Thank you for your comment and kind words. I have no doubt that you will also enjoy many of the reviews of shotguns from the 1970's and 80's which are on the channel. Kind regards, Matthew

Very nice presentation, in my opinion one of the most beautiful and descent gun for it's price point

You guys are really short changed on Miroku options, they are the bread and butter of the amateur rounds here in Oz. The 'base' model MKll was around $3600AUD on release about 8 years ago. I picked up a new one last year for $2300 about 1100 quid. Vented mid and top rib 30inch with thin wall briley chokes. Balance is perfect and lifted my scores instantly over the old 525 I had before. Great video as always.

Thank you for your comment. I am very aware (sadly) of the differences between the UK and Aus spec of Mirokus. Kind regards, Matthew

    Hello Matt,
Enjoyed your review of the MK11, I won a MK11 last year in a drawing in the UK and my gun does balance just slightly forward of the hinge even with “aftermarket “ extended chokes. In reference to your MK38 comparison, I received my MK38 on Friday that I purchased from you. This gun is in perfect condition for a pre-owned firearm and I had an opportunity to shoot it over the weekend in a round of sporting clays. It was great doing business with you and am very pleased with my purchase!

Thank you for your comment Mike. As you say with a few little 'tweaks' the handling can be altered. Great to hear that the Christmas Special MK38 landed safely and is serving you well. Kind regards, Matthew

totally honest review, but then we wouldn't expect anything less, I have to say at the beginning I was going to say I would love to be on a peg with that, but having listened to what you said I totally agree with you Matt

    Excellent review as usual Matt,
I absolutely love your reviews, such honesty and that’s what people need,
As for that choke key on a £6000 + gun well that’s a piss take if you ask me, why not supply a Browning one with a Miroku icon on,
Oh well they know best or so they think 😂😂

Thank you for your comment, I am pleased that you enjoyed the video. I think it is such a shame that the gun looks so good but falls flat in the handling department. I am going to try a 30" model and see how different it is. Kind regards, Matthew

Totally honest review matt I looked at a 32inch didn't like it but the 30 inch does balance perfectly especially with teauge titanium chokes in ,and I do like the grip shape suits my hand well ,I certainly shoot well with it at game ,but I'd use my mk38 for clays, but then the mk38 is to heavy to walk about with all day on a game day ,so the mk11 fits the bill well there ,i also found the recoil was very low on the mk11 ,but then i looked at a eell classic aswell for a lot more money and that kicked like a mule and was about 2 inches or more in front the hindge pin of balance and that was a 30inch gun. great review as always matt honest and to the point

Thank you for your comment and kind words. Miroku are without question masters of shotgun manufacture but this gun in 32" is just not quite there. Kind regards, Matthew

Thank you for such a candid review of an intriguing shotgun. I am an owner of several different products of Superposed lineage but I must say that I was also very impressed with the 725 design. After shooting 725's, I was sure one would be an addition to my collection at some point. I patiently waited for a version with aesthetics I could live with. Most were just too plain and I was really in the market for a nicer game gun. My kneejerk reaction upon seeing a MK11 was to get on some UK list and buy the first one that came available. After closer inspection of the engraving I was sadly put off. I truly love the deep cut engraving of the acanthus but I found the gamebird too coarse and a bit distasteful. In my humble opinion, gamebirds are graceful, delicate creatures best presented in Bulino or similar style. I understand that would be more expensive to make but I would have been happy to pay the price.

I have the 30 inch barrel one, balance is probably a bit better than the 32 , overall I am pleased with the gun, I use mine mainly for clay shooting, it will be interesting to see the sport one of they bring one out and yes the choke key is taking the piss .

Great video and review. The problem I have is that we can't get any of the Mirokus in the USA. Stuck with Brownings - which I have no problem with mechanically, but Brownings rarely dress up their guns.

Nice review. For the price you could get the XS Pro The Crown, or as you said a MK38 (or two). Easy choice all things considered.

Hi Matt. I agree with you on this one. I looked at this gun in 2021 and was disappointed enough to come away with a Beretta 687 EELL. How about a review on the Browning 725 'Medallion's', in 12 & 20 Bore. I would be interested in your thoughts. Especially with regard the 20 bore?

I’m a Miroku/Browning fan and really wanted one of these when I first saw them being reviewed. Having handled one I really didn’t like it. Felt unbalanced and awkward, hugely nose heavy and the stock dimensions just didn’t feel right. I’m not a fan of the angry cartoon game birds either. Shame as it’s a really well made gun and beautifully finished. Matt, great review as usual and far better balanced than the gun!

Nice looking gun! However, it has too much finish in the checkering, and the checkering has too many overruns! The engraving is really top drawer for the price range, and the forearm is too short for my liking. Great video though! I like my older Brownings much better!
