- Finally! After a long while trying to solve several issues with the Stinson L-1's engine performance, we finally got the chance to take her out for a test flight. Check out the clip and see if we have things figured out.

The sound of an inertial start is off the chart. Thanks Kermit !
What a lovely aircraft this is and the way it took off with that STOL climb out ! Kermit you have the very best guys looking after your treasures and this gem is no exception,we could see how pleased you were with the way she flys, and that radial sounds fantastic, hope that you get to enjoy her flying again soon.
Mr. Weeks, I"m working my way through all your videos during quarantine and they're helping me so much. Thanks you! Looking forward to ACT 3! English is not my native language!
Wow Kermit what an A/C! You came off the ground like a home sick angel! Beautiful aircraft, it is larger than I had thought - I thought it was more the size of the Bird Dog. Thanks again!
Kermit you are the MAN! What a great crew you have also. Best wishes for full success and expansion of your work. 👍🇺🇸
Kermit the test pilot! I'm impressed at how big the L-1 is once a bit of scale is added. I'd only seen pictures.
Great video. Any pilot understands your delight in seeing the machine working as it should. Night and say!
It must be during moments like these, that it all seems 'worth it'.
Nice post Kermit! I think my Dad flew in such a Stinson in the Army in '46, he was a photographer. Sweet aircraft.
Love the sound of that start up! Great flight.
Great. Nice clean starts, and a happy camper - can't ask for more.
You took me back to another time. I could see in my minds eye the young Army pilots doing ash and trash, VRs, and Arty Spotting. Wow.
It is sure nice when things work right makes you smile.
I've been wanting walk around vid and inside tour of that PBY since like...forever!
Nice work, guys. That is one heck of a taildragger.
I was surprised by the person who can steer the airplane.
I subscribed to the channel.
I am looking forward to the movie.
Great crew ya got there Kermie. Excellent video and aircraft. 5 star.
Huge fan of you guys and the videos, hopefully I can visit the museum sometime! Would be awesome to meet Kermit, very inspirational person!
LOVE THE SOUND OF A BIG ROUND ENGINE
Love it need more of it.
Beautiful plane.
But I Do love the sound of Round and Round. There's nothing like the sound of a Radial engine, inertial starter and all
That's a big plane!
interesting video as always. missed kermie cam but happy you are back again :)
I just wish we had a Kermie Kam inside while you were flying so we could see what you were doing at the controls, man! What a cool airplane!
Coming Soon!
This is every Aviators 👨✈️ dream right here. 🤔Hummmmm...Which plane do I want fly today....?. I think I'll take the old Stenson L-1 up today. 👍🏼😃👍🏼
Awesome bird, sweet.
Beautiful airplane....can't wait for a Kermie Cam for this plane
Agree with You Tuber, please give us the tour of the Cat Always looking forward to your videos Keep'em coming :)
Great videos mr Weeks! 2 things to consider in your future releases.
1) Increase the resolution of your videos to 1080p.
2) Bring back the Kermie cam.
Greetings from Cyprus :)
No wonder she won a prize; what a great aeroplane!
Ideally we could have the Kermie Cam and simultaneously show exterior shots...
...that's the way I'd like it anyway.
Thanx for another great vid and...
cheers
Very very good stinson radial engine, brasil ok.
Awesome! Man she's throaty!
thank you for using a slow shutter speed! :)
Yeah, please take the Kermie Cam inside that plane! I use to watch these Stinsons fly over my house when I was a kid, then I'd ride my bicycle over to Owens Field in Columbia to watch em' land.
We have that on the to do list. Hopefully soon!
This channel is awesome:D
Cool machine. Did you guys check the tach with an optical prop tach? Pretty unusual for a mechanical tach to be dead accurate.
Kermit beautiful aircraft.. I have a set of plans that I am going to build. 60+" WS. Is yours a Stinson O-49 or a Vultee L-1-A? Thanks from John, Hayden Idaho. Home of the Pappy Boyington Musium
Good job dodging the round bales :)
Beautiful airplane. Stinson built great airplanes
gunsaway1 yup. Got one, 108-1!
Man, you got the best mechanics! I hope you're paying those guys good !!!!!!!
Please do a video with that beautiful PBY in the background
The strut on the landing gear makes the gear look bent. Kind of an interesting optical illusion.
HDaviator I noticed that also
HDaviator t
Why wasn't the motor inspected before you took it up the first time? Sounds like there was a lot wrong....you got lucky.
When I stopped at fantasy of flight a number of years ago this plane was pile of parts and now it's running.
I wonder which plant this aircraft was manufactured in possibly the plant I worked at.
Amazing airplane! Love the videos.
Any update on the Fokker D7 coming soon? :)
Ben
Shes a beauty!
I miss Kermie Cam :( Great video though!
Kenneth Moureau me too!!!
Bring back the helmet cam, please.
That poor radial sounds like a bucket 'o bolts
I like the "slats" myself.
Beautiful Bird. Isn't that the type of plane Glen Miller was flying in when his plane went down over the English Channel?
uc 64 norseman
Wish you had an "IN Cockpit" camera view of the flight.
Hopefully A2A will model this!
Wow what a beauty. Whats the year?
right about 1941, 324 built
Was that the plane the CAP used to sink a german sub in WWII?
Yo sé que no entenderá esto pero. Me gustan muchos. Los videos de usted y mi pasión son las aviones. Son hermosas.
"I know that you won't understand this, but I like your videos a lot. Airplanes are my passion. They're beautiful."
180 out makes a huge differrnce
😲
Behind every rich millionaire collector are a bunch of dedicated talented folks working to keep things going. Am hoping guys like kermit & leno pay their people well.
Hey can i borrow the plane or car for a hot date? 🙄
guess the cob webs were blown away like Kermit was.
Very similar conception to german Fieseler Storch.
All those fancy vintage airplanes, still no 1080p video
Dang Kermit, fly it again with the Go Pro next time bro!
It's not a Kermie Cam, but this video has some GoPro footage of the L-1 in the air.

That thing stops in almost no space!
God I thought it was Jon Lovitz w/Kermie...lol
Bit close to that hay bale...
Hi Kermie, have your guys checked the compression pressure and exhaust temp and cyl head temp and exhaust pulse signature on all the cylinders? Still doesn't sound as if it is running 100% to me. [but then I have only been listening to Aero Engines for six decades]
Paul S ist extremely nervous...why..???
About the same size as a Fiesler Storch, unless I miss my guess.
tsmgguy Looks like bigger than the Storch...
L-1 span 50' 11", length 43' 3". Feisler Storch span 47', length 32'. Both are considerably larger than my Piper L-4A.
OK, Kermie's pre-flight doesn't incude a fuel check...............
The video was obviously edited so you have no idea if he did so or not.
Îk
Go get a dipstick from a Studebaker
Straw bales? Would I fly with Kermie? Nope.
Well then you are a .......
