- In this video I will show you how to make an easy button using gimp cord. You could also use other types of cord, such as monkscord (twisted cord), double-spun, braids, and even thicker threads.
This easy technique is great for fabulous decorative buttons - you could also just use this technique to add embellishments to other textile projects.

Lovely I’m so enjoying this channel. All the buttons are so beautiful.
Thank you!
Glad to see you using. The Huck needle.
They are also great for knot buttons!
Thanks for sharing! I think these buttons would make an interesting choker necklace too.
That's a wonderful idea!
I was just thinking that this is just like making coiled baskets when you mentioned it. I took a class in making little coiled baskets many years ago using silk thread and a paper core which was very addictive!
Silk thread and paper would make a cool button!
I would like to thank you for sharing your art with the world. You have introduced me to a rare art and you inspire me loads. Love from the Netherlands :)
Thank you so much!!
as always love these buttons what a relaxing way to create a work of art.
Thank you!
Oh what a great button and actually so many possibilities .. you are tempting me again to make some , thanks for the great tutorial , loved to watch it. Greetings from Bavaria
Can't wait to see what you create Corinna xx
I would love to have a go, im just looking at the gimp on your site....lots of lovely choices but which size is the one you used please?
I've used a 2mm hand spun here - you could go with the 1mm or the .5mm, but the results will either be a smaller button, or you'll need more rounds. I would not recommend the pure silk gimp for this - it has a very soft handle which won't work in the same way. It is also super fine, so you'd need a lot!
@@GinaBSilkworks thank you for the info and advice…so I have a hard choice to make in which colour now!
I am heading for 30mm buttons so I see the 2mm will be perfect.
Thank you
